That's a big ask that I don't think will ever pan out for Arma. The complexity of mods in a way that is only really supported on PC (mostly due to kb and mouse) means your console market is always going to be minimal. Not to mention the broad cultural differences in player base.
Also if native run code can't work on console (and it never will due to how console games restrict content) then even if not using TS and replacing it with a dedicated and more elegant voice backend will have the same result.

The support for console is the exact reason we're creating an external von mod. The current von system, while good enough for console and cross-platform, is not good enough for pc communities.
That, and the fact that we're missing a lot of von qol features ingame that obv is not the main focus for bi rn in reforger

There is no information about the position of the storage on vehicles right? Hence origin. Maybe bounding box center would work better, or "bounding box center and 1/4 of the vehicle's size to the rear" which should put it "somewhere near the trunk" (added benefit: infantry eats grenade explosions in the LAV while being flashbanged by the flares if they are even still there)

In principle yes, but they have rather a low speed, so don't do that much damage. Ofc depends on the ammo. A stray HE from LAV still is dangerous.

Some people just tested it and says it works with GMFX, i dunno how that is possible but hey
Iiirc it just needs the words “gas mask” in the inventory component and GM FX does a check to see if the name is there and then negates the effect of the smoke when the check comes back as true

IMO a good affordance is having some larger ‘hub’ parts where you can fit a mortar or a raised part where a static machine gun can be placed. Compatibility with existing gm compositions like bunkers is a plus to allow customisation per scenario but not essential

I'm currently working on creating physics-based hit effects for my "Better Hits Effects" mod. The current stage of development is already playable and has good optimization, even for 500 simultaneous projectiles with physics calculations for particle spawn.
To achieve this, I have implemented physics-based script for hit effects that take into account various factors such as speed, energy in joules and angle of impact of bullet, as well as material hit, and more. These factors affect specific particle emitters within a PTC file, allowing for customization of particle size, speed, wind effect, wind resistance, gravity, and other parameters. This allows for a more realistic and detailed hit effect.
You can test current version by downloading "BHE_EXP_4.0_Alpha" and "BHE_EXP_Shrapnel_Compat" (for compatibility with my "Shrapnel 1.2" mod, although I currently do not recommend using this mod because I have not yet implemented lighter shrapnel physics)

I don't think physically correct particles are a good idea for vanilla, I would say that the game doesn't need it. This will take the time and effort of programmers, it will be necessary to rework all the ptc, and it will probably affect performance. And considering all the other problems of Reforger, it's not worth it. But for Arma 4, yes, it would be cool!

I know, I bugged him about it for awhile but stopped because it's going to be a long time long. can't post for another 10 minutes, but Pierre proved my point with the "if I work on that" part of the everyone having it. Then deleted his comment. When you mod you shouldn't just do it so you can benefit, everyone should be able to use your work, you aren't making money off of it, everyone should have easy access without having to download and entire map to even touch them

Wanted to announce a huge milestone in a place of open interest.
RAVEN ANTI-CHEAT has been more successful then i ever imagined it would be. Unfortunately [BattleEye] hasn’t been able to detect many of the cheaters very easily in Arma Reforger however RAVEN has bridged that gap allowing server owners to catch them in the action.
RAVEN has contributed to over 50+ Confirmed cheaters banned with evident video proof. It also has led to a drop off in some servers of direct cheating activity acting as a safeguard for few. I wanted to say formally say thank you to all who utilize the mod on their own servers we’ve just hit 20 thousand downloads 🍾.

Got the idea to put together a MP compatible player name change mod.
Callsigns can be set by any player (prefixes their name with ~). Admins can view real name of player's with callsigns via #callsign list. Base game profanity filter is applied to callsign text to mitigate abuse, along with an impersonation check based on current players. Persistence, additional moderation features lacking, very basic implementation currently. Let me know what you think, not much to show off in terms of showing it in action.

No, it's because I don't use multi-materials. For now, all of this will be optimized later. But it's an evolving project. I needed to make a lot of buildings quickly, so I allowed myself to do certain things to save time. But these buildings will be optimized later.

I present to you the spider face grab mechanic.
When a spider attacks a character, it appears on their face. The player has time to remove it. If the player fails to remove the spider, they die and several more spiders appear in their place.
Need to add that to an otherwise vanilla conflict server at night
latest thing im been working on now. Got a pretty good base now, so detection on craters so they dont spawn to close to overlap, its snaps to terrain and only spawn on terrain so not on vehicles or buildings, and snaps correctly to terrain height/slopes. The crater didn't 'dig' into the ground, it 'piled' up from the terrain. Yeah, raised up is the correct term I guess. Just a crater object placed on the terrain, since you can't deform the ground real-time in reforger/enfusion (yet)

Fps is perfectly fine, assets are low poly, also all assets will include multiple LOD's to ensure performance. Besides that the terrain is NOT flat, the terrain has multilevels of heights in short distances. So therefor you never load in the entire map on your distance, because the view is basicly blocked to certain elements, example are: elements of Nature : Hills, bumps, holes ect. Human made elements: Tunnels/caves ect. so to ensure performance with high quality of terrain I am basicly trying to work my way around it.
So far I havent found any problems yet with the ammount of assets, no weird FPS drops or performance issue's. AI just works also fine for now.
Also assets are also focust on their purpose, trashy stuff on the ground will have a very low quality texture while larger assets will have better textures, therefor not breaking your immersion of playing on the terrain.

It should not scale with players, you set an AI limit for the world and it splits them evenly with players. So if you set the ceiling to 40 AI and it's two players both get around 20 each etc. At least that's in theory unless I screwed up. Lol

EE_Supply Drop
This mod lets players call in a supply drop during a match. To do it you need to hold and inspect your radio and look for a new action: "Request Supply Drop"
When you trigger it, your character makes a quick radio call, and after a short wait an airplane sound plays as supplies get dropped somewhere near you. A marker will show up on the map so your team can see where it landed. The drop only lasts for a while before disappearing, and you can’t spam it because there’s a cooldown timer. Depending on the settings, the cooldown can either be just for you or shared with your whole faction.

It seems that bullet decals are a small thing, but it has an incredible effect on immersion.
In the latest version of BetterHitsEffects 4.0, more physically-correct decals were added (they work the same way as the particle effect - bullet energy in joules and the angle of impact), at the moment there is a limit of 50 thousand bullet decals (it does not cause performance problems (on stable 1.4 Arma)), and they do not disappear, but remain in its place until the end of the game (only if the limit of 50k decals has not been exceeded).
The addon is available on stable 1.4 Arma (recommended) - "BHE_EXP_4.0_Alpha", and on experimental 1.6 Arma (test), there is also a mod compatible with Shrapnel 1.2

Of course, why not? Decals (I assume better than meshes for footprints) are a bit wonky but it should work

Tested the Crater system, but it was on bellue wood and they didn't work in the mp scenario, but it could be just the map itself

Yes, its applied to the material files, the temperature settings themselves. AND... if I am correct, I believe you can also apply heat map textures as well, so for instance if you wanted to make not the entire helicopter hot, but a particular part of the texture, say where the engine is for example, you could have varying heat signatures on objects.

The color gradients I made, minus the red default - but the cool thing is temperature weighting goes from left to right on the gradient from cold to hot, so I was easily able to make White Hot, Black Hot, Green Hot, and BlueCold-RedHot effects with just creating a gradient in Photoshop and not having to change too many values. I have not seen any base game assets, it seems like it was added primarily to benefit the modding community. But realistically, I imagine we'll see these make their way to IFV optics, and Tracked Vehicle Weapon Sights, sooner or later in the base game.

Take a pic to youre model and just imagine the main bones on it for example if you close and open your arm waht the bones are moving the arm, in this case its the elbow. so the elbow needs to be red painted, and from the wrist to the hand must follow the elbow so u need to paint it with yellow to green.

The fragmentation range in the game will be greater than 200 meters and there will be strange hit directions,the farther the fragments are generated, the more concentrated their hit direction is and all of them hit distant objects, such as trees.
This feature could be added to an object such as a Kestrel and would be amazing

According to the official map and multiple complex scene tests, the distance of fragments in the game is about 300 meters, which is the most comfortable distance based on the objects that can be hit in the scene.
If the distance is too far, it will be occupied by other objects and hit by Perform Traces.

I remember seeing another post on here from a guy that had made an autopilot using PID controllers; maybe you could use that mod to get the AI to actually "fly" rather than faking it?
The author of that mod said, and I quote:
"Since I am manually piloting the aircraft from script, essentially invoking the same things that are used to control the helicopter from player perspective. Having AI fly may not be possible with this approach, but I would like to create the ability to feed a location and tell the helicopter to go and fly there. Would still require a player on the controls to monitor and be along for the ride."

my idea here is that ive already got a system in place that slow vehicles down when driving on terrain/offroad. Then im making vehicles like this that can make a new road enteties.

I don’t know if you know but terrain materials do have modifiers that control the effects tires have on them. For instance you can create ice or very loose terrain that impacts handling.

ah yeah thats true. I just thought it would be easier to have it on the vehicles so its would be easier to tweak per individual vehicle handling. So my system just checks for what material/surface the wheels are in contact then applies slip and those effects there. But modifying materials themself would probably be better when i think about it in terms of online maybe. havent tested it too much yet 🤣
It would be less costly to do so with the materials alone. If you just made an override to certain things to add a level of grit to the game when it comes to off-roading.
A good way to go about that then too is to create different tire types A/S, W, S, P, AT, etc

I am working on an AI-controlled FPV enemy drone that searches within a specific radius; if it detects a player, there is a % chance it will engage. Any helicopter can work as long as it's properly set up. Need to add a component and mess with the ActionsManagerComponent too. Out of the box only works with the UH1H

A bit more information... I plan to make a whole system. Maybe add normal spotter drones flying around (slower and more predictable) and those are the ones who send the FPVs if player is spotted.

they spawn a configurable distance away from the target area. Currently is 1km away I think. They could in theory do the whole process, as in spawn at MOB on ground, take off, etc but why bother I think it's too much unnecessary trouble 😅

shift + escape to access pause menu then any settings you change there will be saved for all subsequent game mode previews if you 'save and exit' from the pause menu before closing - similarly if you enter Game Master, set up the shortcut tabs at the bottom then save and exit they'll be default whenever you start up GM

Oooh this is only for map making sadly. Will release a mod that overrides the roads in any server, but there's no way to set this up in GM due to how roads work. You need to check it on Tools

Not ideal but not catastrophic - similar to the vanilla LAV. This definitely doesn't need that many polys, but should be fine with some distance lods as a toy to play around with.
Idea: position the player so it looks like they're hanging from the arms and use the falling animation as the default pose

For transport and air presence is easy to set up with modded helicopters but for the air strike is more complex and will depend on how the turrets are set up etc. Definitely possible tho if you want to put in the work
