Hey, so i bought the game a couple weeks ago and insta-refunded because i joined a couple of Official Severs and 1) In the very first minute of the game i was teamkilled 2)There was noone on comms 3)There was no queue for modded modern warfare servers (which is the only thing im interested in)

I do wanna buy it again cause i got that itch and ive seen videos with people playing modded servers and communicating all the time but there were very few of them and they were all full (in EU). Is there a way to get in those servers regularly ? Like Squad where you get priority access if you seed for example, or anything like that ? Are there discords for those servers so you could get in easier ?

I dunno it's about 50-50 for me. Half the time I will get a squad who communicates and have a great time. Other times they are just running off and playing solo. I mostly play official conflict.

But safe bet is to just join a community and play the game. Eventually you will find other people who wanna match your playstyle.

I just downloaded Arma Reforger on my PC today and when I go to "Official, Community And/Or All" server listings, there is only ONE that can be found. Doe anybody know if I have to manually join servers or if random ones will pop up automatically?

Check your steam library for 'Arma Reforger' and 'Arma Reforger Experimental'

the experimental is pre-patch testing before it goes to stable build(stable is the one you should be using) Many people accidentally install the wrong app and then think 'there are no servers what the heck' where in reality there are usually at least 5-10 full community/official servers with around 600-1000+ players spread across those alone, with around 400 servers in total in the server browser

YMMV with community servers, most require mods and mods with low effort to boot so I play Official(around 20 Official servers total)

The other day I was playing KOTH and I grabbed a truck at base and rammed a guy in a Hueys tail rotor as he was taking off, he proceeded to take off and then crash, spent all game on global coms crying for me to be kicked and complaining about a wasted $15k or so

Make sure you add these ports to Windows firewall inbound ports. I did local and global. Also disable any anti virus or program effecting firewall setting

my guess is that many servers (especially the official ones) run on completely undersized virtual servers with shared CPU cores. i know this from dayz, what a difference it made to play on servers where the dayz server ran on a powerful dedicated root server, and you could smoothly drive a vehicle without being whirled through the air with lags every two metres.

for cost reasons, game server providers such as nitrado overbook their hardware without restraint.
that makes them cheap and easy to set up. but you get poor performance

server hardware , not the user hardware. if people talk about synchronization issue, it means the game sever cannot keep up with the incoming input from all the clients. mostly due to a combination of poorly optimized server software and underdimensioned hardware on which the game server software runs

I get the point you are trying to make but I experience this issue on servers that run well just as much, so I'm positive that it's simply a bug in state sync

especially since a simple reload gets the state in sync and my bullets hurt again

BI has issues with the prone scope, it’s across the board for any longer than standard sights; it seems to have 0 eye relief and actually end up inside your face.

This is a known issue and should be fixed at some point.

i've lost count of how many people at this point have argued "let the next big arma be cold war-based and just let modders bring in modern stuff". making people have to mod in content that should be vanilla is a terrible approach to selling a product (also a huge reason why desktop linux is not popular and never will be unless that community drops the elitist mentality of requiring everyone to "do it yourself or you're too dumb to use linux").

First its the cold war, so its not ww2. There were modern vehicles and equipment, atack helicopters, jets, IFV's, APC's, M1A1, AH64, M2A2, etc. You already had all the stuff like laser guided munitions and modern target acquisition systems.
Secondly the technology either isn't capable of simulating most modern systems or they are classified, making most of it merely eye candy and useless, while older vehicles and systems are more likely to be declassified and implemented well in the game.
Thirdly there was a good balance of strength in the countries involved, making for interesting combat scenarios with forces of similar strength and appeal.
Fourthly it's in good taste for BIS not to become one of those companies that capitalise on ongoing wars and conflicts, with people being currently affected by them, its like capitalising on the suffering of others for your own benefit.
Fifthly OPF:R was bohemia's best title in the genre. While subsequent releases improved the technology, the game design in Arma was uninspired and left much to be desired, while OPF was new, different and refreshing. Even Arma 2's modern take didn't have the appeal of the original title.
Sixth. The popular modern units, while tacticool looking add very little to the game, since the servers are populated with tactical drip loving players playing solo behind a 4x scope and a suppressor, what's happening in these servers is far from the platoon level, teamwork oriented game that reforger can deliver, and once the novelty wears off, the game won't last.

So yes. Arma 4 could be a great opportunity for people to experience an incredible title, powered by new technology.

Well I don't know who or where you've played to have this '2% of players actually like cold war era' statistic, I've played well over 1500 hours on vanilla and close to 1200 hours on modded.

As far as cold war fans go it's close to 80% of the people I met on vanilla really enjoy a cold war theme in Arma, maybe about 30% say the same on modded servers, but as I've discovered through talking with them is most of the people on modded servers come from call of duty or battlefield looking for a more 'realistic' experience.(in fact, many people play exclusively on modded to the point where they don't even know whats in the game or not and end up blaming the game devs instead of a mod dev on some bugs)

Even further 60-70% of those people could care less which era is next in A4, some excited for cold war alternate universe, some want to attack the kremlin, some want to use future weapons like in A3, some want WW2, some want WW1.. It's all over the fuckin place...

if you like the game mode conflict and PVP, servers nemesis, darkgru, and W.C.S are the go to for PVP. PLXYABLE is dayz in arma reforger if you are into that. these servers are modded so you will have to download content based on the server

I go and check what mods are out of date and update them, sometimes the game.wont do this automatically or will fail to do so when you try enter a server, or restart the game and try again. Might be you have to find the mod causing the issue and go into the workshop and delete manually then manually re-install from the workshop not server browser

If they were your teammate and killing you (as I understood here) type in chat #players and report them to BI with evidence

That command gives you the GUID

There's a little mouse icon showing a highlighted mouse-wheel under the chat that says "Cycle history", but it doesn't do anything. Oh well. I think the guy left after the map cycled.

i tried to Direct Connect using domain name, but it doesnt let me click Connect. It only works with IP it seems. kind of a weird decision, just curious why

good fun - then got vote kicked again, and by the time I got back we lost all our initiative and were getting pushed back, good fun.

Worst part is they weren't mass vote kicking, they were just targeting me! No clue why either.

Oh, if they were banned I wasn't there for it because they vote kicked me out. All of them were gone after the map change 10-15 minutes later when I rejoined the server.

Xbox players have like a family sharing thing that allows then to add multiple accounts and with one ban they just make a new one

That, and the fact that there's a 6 hour free trial on xbox... Makes it really easy to get past bans and timeouts on servers.

They don't even have to buy the game

Most of these trolls have multiple alt accounts already like the n word guy, he literally will be in your game and just flat out tell you “o damm you guys are finally about to kick me to bad I have 17 accounts. I think this is even worse because most trolls have people who can tell them to leave when their votes get high

Lots of reasons.. A lot of the problem is the server box not being good enough.

Happened to me and a few friends. They did not communicat, I did not encounter them on the map, they just kicked everybody in order to play their private game. That is REALLY annoying as you are also banned to join any other server for 5 mins

Hey all...are there currently known issues with the official (vanilla) European conflict servers? We experience severe low fps and packet losses for some days, sometimes all movement except the own freezes completely. The US servers work fine for us though. Any word on this?

This is really bad timing. There are quite some new players currently that get pissed off immediately. This is a huge damage to all the progress and reputation built up since release and particular in 2024.

Not sure if this would be the right channel but every time my server removes a mod, adds a mod, or even just simply auto updating mods, some xbox players get this error and recently not even reinstalling the game has fixed their issues this time. Any body know why this happens and how to actually prevent it from affecting xbox players?

mod gets corrupted so they have to delete the mods and redownload them

the problem is xbox can corrupt the mods on the redownload after reinstall as well

literally every time you download or change version of a mod on xbox

it blows my mind that this is still a thing as well, we are not in early access anymore

I only got theories cause they'd be willing to try anything at this point honestly. Series S players have it worse than Series X players with how frequent the RDB_MISTMATCH error occurs from what I can tell based on what my own community members have been saying.
