Hi ! I have a question: does arma reforger run a 'wrp' file and does it have the same file/folder organization as a dayz folder?

open hedge
#

no, no

I have the gman's face, is it possible that someone put it on a dayz 'npc' for me? I would put a suit on him and a briefcase in his right hand to make him say... um, mysterious things. hmmyes

Any recommended alternatives to MS One Note? (inexpensive, preferably non subscription based). Evernote is too expensive.

shy perch
#

for fully free alternatives i couldnt find anything good

#

onenote pen support and overall experience is just too good imo

brisk inlet
#

no offense but we live in a generation of SaaS, there is soon no such thing as "non-subscription". In fact that is the industry's answer to "expensive license business"

#

Compared to what entire MS office package cost per month/year, evernote seems to be quiet expensive but I checked the industry standard and they all charge pretty much the same, good luck on that

#

according to my business peers and based on my experience I can only think of Evernote, Google workspace and Notion. 2/3 of them offer free entry level which is pretty much useless for active users and all of them start at 6, 8 and 12.- per month

#

I can only recommend to wait for yearly standard deals such as Blackfriday and abuse the fact that US deals are usually extended like that too. Whenever I say I would like to stay but I'm unhappy with your price, they either give you voluntarily 50% discount or you just wait for another Blackfriday deal or any other opportunity which usually gives you 60-70% discount

#

I do that for many softwares, otherwise I would indeed lose a lot of money

wooden tendon
#

is one note even good

#

what do you use it for?

brisk inlet
#

Lets say for students its good enough, if you insist it must be free and you have MS office package, well why not but even companies replace onenote for paid solution, so I suppose its worth their money

wooden tendon
#

I've never used this type of app before, so I'm curious on some example use cases

brisk inlet
#

There are just two morons in this software business giving me zero discounts, Adobe and MS, so I decided to change tactics again. We have no more students in our household, so that option died years ago. enterprise volume licenses are a thing of the past thanks to SaaS, companies don't have reserve licenses anymore. Now I hope my colleagues working there don't suddenly change job or get fired because I enjoy 90% discount thanks to them

brisk inlet
#

Is Stripe such a thing in your region?

#

I can only think of Adyen being the sole competitor of PayPal here

wooden tendon
#

they have great APIs but their support is hot garbage

#

I have a ticket with them that has like 50 replies, it goes like this:

  1. I report a frontend bug on one of their pages
  2. technical support bot sends me some irrelevant canned response
  3. I ask to speak to a frontend developer so I can explain it properly
  4. they ask me to explain my issue
    repeat from point 1
#

they even asked me for videos of the bug, so I made some, then a different agent gets in the ticket and sends another irrelevant crap response

#

like I say hey there's some javascript bug with form validation on your payments page when I use paypal as a payment option, then they tell me something like "I understand you are having issues when your customers pay with paypal, please contact paypal to resolve the issues" like they dont even bother reading what I say, or some language model just filters keywords and sends a canned response

There are sometimes moments, where you realize how frickle all software is.

My SVN client is suddenly broken and crashes everytime I want to commit. But only on the project that I actually need to work on, other projects are fine?
Install an older version, still crashes.
Install a newer version, still crashes.
Clean uninstall and reinstall, still crashes.
Latest nightly beta build, still crashes.

Down the rabbithole, get the debug files for the latest beta and try to attach a debugger.
But how to attach a debugger to a program that you start from a explorer context menu and that crashes right at start..

Manually insert "Image File Execution Options" into the registry, to force the windows kernel to redirect any attempt to launch the program, and launch a debugger instead.
Run visual stdio, now I get all the options that would be passed from the right click menu and can launch a debugger.
Start it, instant crash.

Where is the crash... Microsoft shell32.dll. Mh curious, there was an automated windows update on the last shutdown before SVN stopped working..

Why is SVN calling into it? To load a file icon for a .sln (Visual studio project) file.
But not just any .sln file, one specific project.

I open the folder in explorer, there are other folders with .sln files, they are all fine.
I open the folder with the .sln that SVN was trying to load the icon for... Explorer crashes.

Okey, I apparently have a file in a folder, that crashes everything that tries to get its icon.
Its different from the other .sln files, despite being in a folder named "VS2022", its contents say its for Visual Studio 2010.

I want to get rid of the file, just out of interest I do a SVN revert, expecting it would crash because it loads and displays the same icon.
Hey it doesn't crash, and it just displays a empty icon.

Windows installed an update, that made my SVN client and explorer crash everytime it sees a file that has been there, untouched, for 4 years and has never caused issues.

This is new https://netzpolitik.org/2024/databroker-files-wie-datenhaendler-deutschlands-sicherheit-gefaehrden/

Same thing.
German journalists got FREE location data from a data-broker. And used it to track soldiers and intelligence workers from their place of work, to the place where they shop, to their home, to the people they spend their weekends with.
All from free data, without even having a name.

Certainly something to be aware of.

If someone knows where you work, and you have GPS enabled on your phone. They can easily look at your workplace, see who's going in and out, and track them to their home.

Yet companies continue to claim that the data are anonymous. In marketing materials and at trade conferences, anonymity is a major selling point — key to allaying concerns over such invasive monitoring.

[...] With the help of publicly available information, like home addresses, we easily identified and then tracked scores of notables. We followed military officials with security clearances as they drove home at night. We tracked law enforcement officers as they took their kids to school.

  • posting all kind of activities on Insta, Facebook and whatever
  • carelessly using unprotected public WLAN because its free of charge
  • Apple fanboys believe their systems are 100% safe w/o security
I believe EU is still the sole region that gives a dam about data protection and privacy. A few other countries are now trying to catch up in panic but what does it matter if both citizens as well as companies still do not care much about their own data security?
#

I wouldn't be surprised if most people who suddenly complain or suddenly show an outrage are as guilty as those data traders because they still continue to be careless or even voluntarily share their data with anyone

or maybe because the box has 1 gbit ports, except wifi apparently

in Switzerland they offered 10gbit fiber but their equipment was ridiculous at the beginning, while fiber and LAN ports were at 1gbit or 2.5gbit at best, wifi was already faster lol

what's the sales percentage apple has in the EU compared to other places?

Hello everybody. My name is Eastman and I'm helping to put together a project I'm calling the "Milbooru." It will be a searchable archival website for military photos and videos. It will be based on a tagging system, where you add one or two word descriptors to photos based on what is inside of them. You can then include or exclude these descriptors while searching to find large groups of photos that match what you're looking for.

#

However, I am in need of a frontend dev for the project, with experience with a common frontend language (React, Angular, VUE.) If this sounds interesting to you, please reach out to me. I will happily pay you for your trouble.

warped spire
#

our gitlab instance only using 6GB atm and we've automated most of server management into it

fancy system of using pipelines to automate mod packing, container creation/updates/deploy for server, servermods, and mission

#

missions calls out to gitlab pipeline with options at gameend that trigger new container to be built and launched with mission/mod combo

#

can do incremental arma3 or mod updates through steam into image, and we pack mission/maps on changes to main mission repo to a package repository

so deploys pull in the package and uses the latest mission from it based on passed values

is cool

im actually able to enable stuff like hardware flow offloading now that it is not just a software nic being exposed to openwrt

shy perch

im guessing something weird is happening with the ARP cache in the switch. nothing i can really verify as i cant look at the arp table on this entry model switch i have

#

its so weird though, if i keep everything else connected to the wifi it works fine. but as soon as the nuc connects, everything stops working. disconnecting it from the wifi network doesnt help, i have to reboot both the router&switch

could very well be firmware related (i.e. firmware of switch and/or router)

When I abstract RCON with a HTTP API, as in you can send a POST request that runs an RCON command for you, does it make sense to additionally require the RCON password within the POST payload, or should I fetch and cache the RCON password on my end? On one hand you already have the API token to access the API in the first place, on the other hand storing the RCON password, even if inside memory for a few minutes, seems a bit iffy in terms of security. thonk

Hello, so i just tried to join some zombie server, downloaded all of the mods required for it, when i joined the server, the game crashed, alright, i have no problem with that, but now, whenever i run the game, at the intro where you have to press enter, the game just crashes

#

Tried verifying the game files also

#

So now my question is, is it possible to see the last downloaded mod files somewhere so i can delete em?

#

Because i dont want to delete my whole mods folder

#

I cant unsubscribe from the mods from inside the game, and i cant make it to the server browser to see what mods the server is running

Alright i managed to uninstall all of the mods that were installed today, but the game is still crashing...

wooden tendon

actually wasnt able to find any free tool that worked, all the "partition assistant" tools seem to be a virus or junk, the "trial" versions dont actually let me do anything

brisk inlet
#

Win disk manager is restricted and you cannot remove it with the given tools from MS, so it's obvious third party tools want some cash for that service. But still doesn't answer my question why you wanna delete it

shy perch
#

why do you need that info lol

#

im pretty sure you can enter recovery mode and use the cmd prompt there to delete it thru diskpart

brisk inlet
#

I don't need the info, tbh I couldn't care less but it makes no sense to stubbornly delete something that doesn't affect your system at all

but he is probably recreating it after

ive deleted it to change partition order, sometimes it puts the efi partition in awkward spots. optimally it should be one of the first partitions iirc.

#

And if someone doesn't want to interact too much, Google and ChatGPT can help and they won't ask why you need it 😂

#

But I must say it was refreshing to read his approach so far 😆 Freeware ends up useless, virus or junk and trials deny him the feature. Well that is why trial versions are no longer fun because too many people try to abuse that loophole circumventing the license plans.
I suggest the good old DOS force, enter cmd and make it happen oldschool

wooden tendon
#

diskpart in cmd didnt let me do it

brisk inlet
#

Problem is MS changed quiet a lot in the access structure recently, I cannot remember when I was forced to make use of the super admin console the last time except plenty of times on Win10

#

Remember, super admin not to be confused with admin, Windows does have a super admin but they don't like to communicate this openly

#

If the cmd "del part override" did not work, its most likely thanks to the new change from MS, restricting the normal admin account even further

wooden tendon
#

no its because it was a primary boot partition or whatever

brisk inlet
#

if its primary, you can use a bootable USB or SSD drive to open up the menu, go troubleshooter and go cmd from there

#

That's how I bypassed things

wooden tendon
#

no bios, console access

brisk inlet
#

oh fuck sorry I forgot what you wrote before

#

well in that case you do need super admin console first

#

That's the only way left

#

admin =/= super admin

#

are you allowed to boot that disk as super admin btw? I normally assume most people are 🙈

#

I know it's yet another annoying extra step in the world of Windows but I'm glad super admin can override pretty much everything MS imposes on you. Let me know if you or the tech guy tried out or tried differently

shy perch
#

# chrome sable I am not really trying to noise suppress I want the mic to pick up when I'm talk...

Equalizer APO + ReaPlugs VSTs will work for that
It might be fiddly to get the noise gate set right, since it's a more complicated noise gate
https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/ reagate-standalone is the noise gate VST
You will need something to configure the VST, since Equalizer APO doesn't give visual feedback
I use OBS for configuring, just add VST 2.0 plugin as a filter and configure it

#

Basic setup in Equalizer APO would be something like:
Set device to microphone you want to noise gate
In OBS using the microphone monitoring,
Find suitable settings for the noise gate plugin
Add VST plugin to Equalizer APO and enter the settings you got from testing in OBS
One of OBS and Equalizer APO needs to have the VST folder added as a place to look for VSTs, don't recall which
