Livonia is definitely the lowest for me but it still runs pretty well in 64-bit. In 32-bit it's like 5
In the "Play Contact" mode I believe you can place them. ||not sure if you can fly them or anything. If you can't you can probably attachTo something that will allow you to do it||

Is there a way to switch the ed1e drones controls? My page up/down keys are shared with 9 and 3 on my num pad, so I can't extend the arm to advance past the diagnostics phase of the 3rd mission.
turn on/off numlock? everyone has PG up and PG down on 9 and 3 on the number pad

for me it doens't matter what settings I use.. its always like 15-20FPS.. and my CPU is chiling around 20%, tho 1 core is sitting ~80% no real reason why it should be as bad as it is, on so many PCs

The performance is honestly awful and I hope whatever got fucked up in making Contact gets fixed soon in a patch
according to a BI staff member, livonia is the biggest BI map on performance consumption ever made. this is due the high count of detailed vegetation and buildings, also as for the campain scripting. so, if you think there is a fix for it, there actually is: don't play on a potato or a toaster

your i7 can clock up to 4.1-ish GHz for a short period iirc

afaik the H versions can't be overclocked. and if, you shouldn't do that to a laptop CPU because you are in need of powerful cooling a laptop can't provide.
the 4.1GHz i mentioned are the turboboost of your CPU that intel provides at start. provided your laptop supports turboboost to that frequency.

i mean with contact?
first time i was playing contact i had about 25-30FPS. i had my settings maxed out and sampling rammed up to whatever.
the second time i played it o throttled a little down and gained some extra FPS to 40ish
try autodetection for your graphics settings, simple 1080p res @ 100% sampling, maybe even a little less. also reduce your view and object distance. set shadows and PIP to low

Even if it’s the wrong one it may make more which you also will want to try
So say you scan one frequency
It turns into two
One does nothing and the other makes two more
And one of those two more is the one you need
The other restarts the process

Do you experience very low FPS on the Livonia map? I am running 7700K OCd to 5Ghz with a 1070 GPU and 16gig of ram on SSD with no logs and all optimisations that i know of to get 23-70FPS
I used to have minimum 60 stable on Altis and Malden to the current 23 on Livonia in the editor just by placing one playable unit and running around

bright nights depend on time and date AFAIK. You want a date where it's a full moon and a time where that moon is high above the horizon
and you can mess around with setAperture if it's still not bright enough

@lucid creek To select the types of audio signal on the analyzer - use the key as a change of shooting mode for the rifle, the audio selection menu appears. The "Recharge" key changes the antenna type on the analyzer if you have already received a second antenna in the mission.

One of them happens to be a UAV operator and is holding what looks like a laptop, I can only assume this guy is the one controlling the darter you end up tracking and jamming during the demo ||

in all honesty it adds some groundbreaking stuff with the radios. But at that I feel like it should've been folded into the game more evenly like cake batter rather than a side-dish if you catch my drift.
I'm quiet confident that a lot of those scripts would destroy any server in a dedicated MP environment.
I mean, not saying they couldn't be added in MP. they would probably need watered down a lot
a system like TFAR if not similar would help out the process of implementing systems like we saw in the campaign.
and you wouldn't have to have the fake commands. A simple communication jam could throw a mission into chaos. That or an EMP burst which could be done with another "Device" asset or something similar.

it's nice seeing them being able to move but idk how I feel about them not engaging the infantry. They attack vehicles without a problem though.

If there was a "campaign" version that acted like it does now, and then a "player" version that was pretty much a VTOL/tiltrotor sort of control scheme, I would love it.
Just automate the modules flying around it as well, so you can swap gunner positions...
Maybe have a mini version of the main ship as a "UAV Alien Control Backpack".

Yea, read that yesterday? Pretty much what Sabre is saying; instead of having to plop down a movement grid and/or develop new missions, just assume it's a VTOL/Tilt "UAV"/Drone. That way you can just add it into anything as long as you can spawn the vehicle itself.

I mean, I can normally get 45-60 FPS on Altis. 1920x1080, Ultra settings 10-12K view distance while flying. i56600K@4GHZ, 1070GTX .
I've had to bump my graphics down to regular and view distance to like 5K while flying.

In regards to the LDF.

Yes, there was a incident that showed the aliens being hostile, but they were the first ones to bring in scientist, and they didn't launch any major offensives on the random drones spread all around either. I mean there is some logic to it, but I just think it was short hand on the writing to explain it.||
Yep, and ||you spend the rest the campaign were the LDF had plenty of opportunities to go attack random drones. But there was no other moment I seen were they come into conflict.|| Like writing wise|| I can see them using both NATO hostility, Russians intruding on their airspace, and of course the big Fing AE thing in their own country, enough to push them over the edge. Just didn't think it was explained well enough that way though.||

Yea, it felt like the foundation for it all was there, just not spread out enough in the campaign to make a player feel it was justified.
Like for the Altis campaign the AAF was pretty well explained on why they did things.

The way that I understood it ||The AAF was basically forced to attack NATO, it was heavily implied the CTRG forces have managed or fed false intel that they had the device and wanted to ship it out. I saw a video recently, there a Dev was saying that the vehicle flying behavior was because of netcode issues yet this is a Single Player DLC so it makes no sense that the bug is there. So either the mission was coded/scripted as a multiplayer mission or the engine has more issues that the devs would admit/know.

You need basically something bigger then a 7.62mm to really put a dent in them
But they always been pretty deadly, it's just most people fail to understand how slow the turret is. So they rush them head long into a city, then scratch there heads why the AI just camping the corner disabled it in two minutes.
And if the AI is shooting for you, they tend to fire once the target is in range. So all 15 rounds can be spent on a single guy.
As for the Livonia map... nothing actually prevents you from going "out of bounds", right? Currently on a LAN/solo MP mission.

I just took an ED-1D out to test out that 50m mine detector... I fired 16 cluster rockets from MLRS, ended up with 20+ UXO. ED-1D could run them over and explode them with no issue... So, uh... it's apparently quite tough.

The only bad bug that I ran into was one of the vehicles having an "arsenal" option and when opening it it removed our compass thing. That was it. So my guess is yes they did. The end can just be difficult. It was a piece of cake for me but maybe I moved faster than others.

It's mostly there so you know who to point the spectrum device at to intercept comms in the Contact campaign - i.e it's kind of a prop. I imagine some mods like TFAR ACRE etc. will incorporate their radio functions in to them eventually

@dusty saddle Some youtubers have resumed the whole aliens interaction parts of Contact in under 10 minutes. For a ~ 6 hours campaign that is exactly 3.6% of the Campaign time...
And since those are drones and spaceships theoretically they could even not be made by aliens but even humans from the future etc etc... The Chinese? North Koreans? And since some of the roots have been placed on earth millions of years ago... even we the humans could be the aliens and these drones are coming back to take back their homeplanet from the evil humans 😃

Antivirus makes arma extensions fail on first run, because it scans them and it takes too long

@misty charm I went into the editor, and if you spawn any of the drones in without crew, you can enter them. The gravity module and scan module both have weapons. The gravity module is really hard to control, but it can 1 shot just about anything so its pretty neat
I just found out Livionian is a very real but very small language which is dying out, but multiple coutries are attempting to revive

If your looking for a fast way to get classes
Try checking out the CfgPatches. Will usually have a nice array of classes, particuarlly for weapons, with only a few extra stuff to delete to make functional for scripts.
