yeah, I would have liked to see more from the gendarmerie, including a HRT/QRF/SWAT type with helmet and rifle. Plus at least one lightly armoured, vehicle, even if it's just a blue or black unarmed Hunter

I wouldn't personally want equivalence with the Syndikat level of firepower, i.e. no AT weapons, because that asymmetry is what makes things more interesting but the Gendarmerie do seem a little under prepared.

Some times if just playing with stock units, or even rhs and such, i like to spice syndikat up with some salvaged ones from those. I prefer partisan type of gameplay vs red and blue more than anything else and that is the sort of missions i make too.

I like the asymmetric stuff better too. The mission I'm messing with at the moment is perhaps an extreme example, with a lightly manned gendermerie base/jail being attacked by a large force of heavily armed syndikat. The only advantage that the bluefor has is that their position has limited points of ingress. It's pretty brutal though. As the mission starts and the (surprise) attack begins the heaviest weapons are those default SMGs and it's basically a fighting retreat, but if you can make it to the 'armoury' without being shot (easier said than done) then there are some 5.56 rifles and a small amount of ammunition. It's basically an exercise in moving strategically and keeping your head down and surviving. The Opfor will withdraw either after a set period of time (before your reinforcements can arrive) or if they lose too many men.

I'd pay good money to get that kind of depth in the next few Arma expansions. It would add so much to my community's sandbox experience.

We are building our own civilian interaction, but there are more women in Arma 2 than there are civilians period in Arma 3.

Oh, and back then the NATO service rifle was the now-Mk20

Interesting through and through. I've gotten to not mind the MX rifles, but I really think that was a bad move. I prefer those to the Mk20, but caseless ammo is a bit too speculative/hypothetical for me at this point. We'll see, but I don't think it's being used enough for me to buy it as an issue rifle type round, yet.

Heck, while the A-164 Wipeout is a hypothetical, its lore wasn't alternate-history until the USAF decided to retire the A-10 over a decade early in order to pay for the F-35
