Every so often my game will crash and say E_OUTOFMEMORY even though I still have tons left. What causes this?

ok, wtf, accidentally nuked my home directory so installed steam as linux native instead of flatpak, game launches flawlessly without any workarounds, even Launcher works which according to wiki shouldn't

Arma 3 gets brought into this problem, probably, because Arma 3 saves files in the Documents folder, and OneDrive then tries to sync the Documents folder to the cloud

Every time I make myself admin and do #missions on a public official zeus, I get "session lost". Has anyone else been experiencing this?
My friends arma keeps crashing with error 0x0000041D. It happens around 10 minutes after entering a mission. Is there any fix for this? We tried reinstalling the game, validating the game files, used the -malloc=system command, nothing worked.
Best state the number. Latest native linux version is 1.8something. Latest Windows version is 2.08 Big difference to troubleshoot your problem
In the launcher the Options gear at the top bar shows versions of launcher and of game. In Windows the details tab of the executable also shows the version. I don't know how that works in Linux.

Hard to say for sure what is the cause. The exit code is generated by the operating system. And is not a commonly found error for Arma 3: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3:_Unusual_process_exit After Googling for that error code, it appears to be related to it taking too long for starting a service. This might be the Battleye anti-cheat service. That is the only service I am aware of in relation to Arma 3. So make sure your virus/malware scanner is not blocking it. And maybe reinstall battleye.
My friend gets "battleye initialization failed" when joining my server after i enabled battleye
he can join others servers fine and I can join my own fine.

Also, does your friend have Battleye enabled in the Battleye tab of the launcher. As it seems to be coming from his game, computer not able to start it.

When I open Arma 3 server lists on my windows 10 PC, my internet starts acting weird and not working correctly! My browser stopped working, discord does not work, but Teamspeak works smoothly. But when I exit the steam.exe, everything works as it is.
I already tried these fixes:

Yo help im havin trouble wit arma 3 everytime i play and play i for like 10 minutes the game freezes and when i go to home screen/pit the tab away or use ctrl escape to go to home screen the arma 3 map cursor is still there and it is as if thr gane thinks its still running i cant interact with the screen. this has happened 5 times now and im getting tired of it. Im playing the arma east wind campaign and have just completed air superiority(this also happened while i tried to play the mission and went into the map) anyone got any idea how to fix this

If it's freezing rather than crashing then it's more likely to be a disk issue than a RAM issue. Check the windows event log for errors.

Make sure Arma 3 is set to display as Fullscreen Windowed. Should handle alt tabbing/windows key use better. But if you meant to end Arma 3 executing then you should have just used the proper shutdown button/ menu option in the main screen.

You said Ctrl Escape can cause thise. Hard to say what is causing this. Open task manager and see if other programs are active in the background. Windows 10 taskmanager can also show if there is a lot of disk activity or if memory is running out. Whether or not that is caused by a failing disk or failing ram chips is an entirely other mater that it won't tell. You would have to do a disk surface check and or search the Eventmanager for such occurances and reports.
Also keep check on if this happens in the same mission. Or if this occurs when similar things are done in the game.

Not on my SSD anyway. And no application should cause that to happen. It makes you wonder if it just crashed under load (and was unstable beforehand). This is a hardware/operating system issue. Not by Arma 3.
Problem: I keep having this issue with my Arma 3 Publisher where it will not launch no matter what I do, though all the rest of my Arma 3 tools will launch.
Things Attempted: I have attempted the following.
- Reinstalling it
- Verifying Files
- Launching from directory
- Putting in compat mode
- Using someone's else file of said publisher
- Completely reinstalling steam
- Using a different computer
With all these problems I need assitance to fix it seeing I make mods for my unit.

If you guess it is a corrupt campaign then verify your Arma 3 install in Steam. Can never hurt to do that. I wouldn't jump to conclusions though. Try finding out if other applications in the background are taking CPU time/resources at that time. Or if stuff is happening in the game world that just slows it down.

I have 2 profiles on arma i want to use the other one but with the binds and everything of the original so I copy and paste the .vars.Arma3Profile etc but whenever I load up with the new one it resets it entirely does anyone know how to fix
The game settings and controller settings and keybinds are in the other .arma3profile. That is just text file. You may be able to selectively copy and past this. The .vars file is more of a binary file and copy pasting parts of that wil cause it to go corrupt. It contains mission data from certain missions you played. If you want to transfer it to another profile do so in its entirety and only rename it to the new profile in the 'Arma 3 - Other Profiles' folder. But always make sure you keep backups of the files you intend to change.
Arma 3 is not letting me to launch any missions in eden, I've tried verifying file integrity and reinstalled the game.

Whenever I have done this, I have not copied the entire folder. I moved the PROFILE.Arma3Profile and the PROFILE.vars.Arma3Profile to the second already existing profile. Then, I rename those to files to NEWPROFILE.Arma3Profile and NEWPROFILE.vars.Arma3Profile

i need help with a frustrating issues i have been experiencing.
For sometime now in Arma 3 when getting on a server my FPS drops all the way down to 1 or 1 and 20 with severe freezes. It's usually announced by Teamspeak saying ''not connected to teamspeak'' and the message ends up being spammed rather violently for a period of time.
Any fixes ?

The first process will automatically verify Steam Workshop items as well.

Hello, I'm looking to troubleshoot some issues I'm having hosting multiplayer in ARMA 3, and I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to start. My ports are forwarded, and I suspect my issue may be system administrator related.
I can only get my server to be visible when I launch by directly launching the Arma3.exe from my steam folder- whereas the launcher fails. Launching from .exe seems to have some (very outdated) versions of mods I never play with any more and, despite this, when I host it downloads the mission file (in this case, Antistasi) successfully and shows "Antistasi Altis" as my current mission in the steam friends list, and is visible/joinable after I press "play".
Launching via the launcher does not have the "downloading mission data" popup when I click "play" and passes straight through to the player role-selection screen- this is the only context I have that indicates a difference between hosting on ARMA that was launched via launcher, and hosting on ARMA that has been launched straight from the .exe
Anyone know what's going on here?
Are you trying to host a dedicated server or a local server for your friends?

I've noticed that the mission is named differently on a successful hosting through the .exe as opposed to the failed host via launcher
If you seem to have outdated mods when you run the .exe then either you have a -mods parameter in the shortcut for it, or your addons folder is polluted.
At the very least make sure to verify the game through steam.

That said, strangely- it should have SOG Prairie fire loaded and... doesn't.

If you play SOG then you need that cDLC enabled via the launcher first. But that is Altis.

That said, I was just able to successfully hit Host Server within the launcher (which previously wasn't working) and... it was joinable. Gonna load SOG and see if it also works

I would suggest to not load mods in the beginning. Get this working in a normal vanila way first. If it works as you would expect, then add mods.

You should also make sure those mods work together with SOG. Don't assume it does.
Also, when I've hosted unsuccessfully, it just lists the mission as a basic (non-jibberish) title, in this case Kam Lao Nam - Antistasi - Community Version (or something like that, proper text and spacing)

We just played Antistasi with another of our guys hosting with all of those mods, finished the mission
so it's all functional there

Well, then they can't join anyway. They need the terrain to join your server. Compatibilty mod is not going to change that.

A complete reinstall isn't great for me, and I've been trying to avoid it
Rural internet at 5mbps is... a special kind of hell to live in when it comes to modern game installs

Help, past 3 days I suddenly have no sound in ARMA 3. I did the REFRESH, changed my Windows 7 settings, etc... I get audio in Windows and OTHER games, but not ARMA 3. I deleted my profiles, made new ones and still nothing. Yet I have sound in DayZ! Can I EDIT the profile settings config file to force it play or force an audio device there? I have no idea how to trouble shoot this... I am using the PERFORMANCE branch if that matters. I did not switch it back to regular or try developers branch, yet.

Ah!!! I just did it and found 2x unknown devices that was muted!!!! I have NO idea why that would even occur randomly as I would never set or touch those settings unless my Windows is going bonkers... or haunted!!! Thank you!!! You deserve a star or other form of pleasure as compensation!!!

Ive been having an issue when i join my units servers (we have 2 different servers) and when i join them my fps drops to 1-4 Frames and i begin to lag everyone else as well. I use the modpacks they provide for their servers but it still breaks. I noticed when i host my own server from within arma its fine but when i join them it just breaks. When i leave the server it fixes itself.

not sure if its the same issue, but i also happen to have that lag when equiping RCO (PiP) from ace. fixed it when i ditch the sight and use regular RCO.
So i turned off hyperthreading and it fixed itself.

I'm looking in the logs but am not sure what to look for. here are the last few lines before restart and the last lines are it restarting (i think). (dedicated server, hosted on host havoc, modded, has been working fine for a month with no changes, only recently encountered this issue)

My dedicated TADST server doesn't seem it wants to load the ingame server, as it seems to have chirping noises at the moment
The map it was apparently supposed to load was Summa
It keeps getting stuck at initializing addons
TADST starts an dedicated server application. It has nothing to do with the ingame one. Or the Eden editor for that mater. You might want to explain in detail the steps what you did. Because it makes no sense in that combination.

I don't see any explanation of how you use TADST, Eden and the ingame server together. Arma3server_x64.exe is the dedicated server executable.

At (severe) risk of confusing the issue, you don't actually need separate server data at all with Arma 3. The client is bundled with the server exes.

The more mods you throw together the more complicated it becomes. And you've had enough problems with it for the past weeks/months judging by your messages. Start small. once it works after testing, add stuff in small steps. Make small changes.
Check if it works before going further. And don't open another can of worms immediately when the previous thing doesn't seem to work.

Start with vanila stuff. That should work most of the time. It may be boring and lacking variety. But it will work if the mission is made for it. Once you have that working. Start making the small changes to add that bit of variety.

If you make your own missions for a specific set of mods and terrain name (required for it to work anyway) put some hints in the mission name. Or keep a readme file with notes for that particular mission.
If you throw all mods together because you can't tell what is for what, then that is a management issue.
I do name my missions accordingly, for example the Chernarus mission was named ALIVE Chernarus USA vs Russia RHS
Something like that, but can do shorter. Spaces in names tend to cause problems.

Batch files exist and work since the DOS age, so no, not outdated. You just need to be clever in not making typos or copy/paste names in the wrong way. Keep templates of groups of mods that you know work together. Then you can copy paste them into batchfiles whenever you need them for future servers you want to set up.
Or make many batch files so the copy pasting is done only once.
Hence the benefit of not using too many mods.

It's because the ACE compats just use the ACE key

recommended stable way is to use mikeros toolset and Arma3P

Does the delay matter? I thought the issue was that if you create an empty group, it becomes local to the first unit you add to it, rather than changing the locality of the unit.
nah, try to create a group, populate it and then use this command couple of lines below, in some (what?) cases group locality does not change and command returns nothing, not even a 'false'

Not ready to answer this question, we started with 0.5 seconds delay and it's about 3-5 now depending on number of groups to be transferred to HC. It works, but some units remain undressed, especially those in vehicles.

It it is relying on the Units site then that is probably down. If you somehow load that as part of a mod, or custom texture, then that may be incorrectly made. So, how do you have your unit emblem stored?
Hello, I have a problem for the launcher. When trying to join a server with password the popup window to put in the password appears either behind the launcher or off screen, and I can't put alt tab it or windowskey + D it. Im running windows 11

My arma server (LAN server, we have a network set up on zero tier) is running 3 mods (ace, cba, and ace compatibility for SOG) and is running on cam Lao nam ( we all own the dlc) has the red broken chain all the time and has us always either teleporting around on each other’s screens or even disconnecting us mid-game. When it’s just me on the server it’s fine, but as soon as my friend joins we get the red chain and start lagging like crazy. We have a few scripts running, idk if I need to set them to server or client side, but I have no idea how to fix the issues or even what the red chain thing means. On campaign missions we never have the red chain or any lag, and we didn’t have this issue in the past until this mission (my first scripted mission as well) all the scripts run perfectly fine as far as I’m aware. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
you could start debugging by turning off all mods and the SOGPF dlc and then try one of the vanilla mp scenarios (coop) for example to see if that works
if it does then add the SOGPF dlc and try one of its coop missions
if that all works add the mods and try again

If it's specific to your mission, it might just be spamming far more data over the network than it should.

Unable to troubleshoot Rn. I think it’s a network issue, as even though I can call on discord I suddenly cannot send messages (they remain undelivered), workshop will not connect to internet, and a few other things

yeah good luck! locality in arma is a bit of a headache, and can cause a lot of lag if scripts are executed badly
one classic mistake is to accidentally execute the script on every player AND AI in the mission. ive done that before, abd bam the server cpu gets throttled, and red chain - everyone running on the spot for 5 minutes

I have narrowed my shadow issue to Blastcore Standalone Edition, Blastcore Murr, Cytech Map & Assets, or Bloodlust
cytech does a lot of stuff for lights
so it probably cant be run if you use other maps
but also if you put togeteher a lot of mods, they can conflict with each other and break stuff

Check to make sure you don't have anything active that changes your networking. VPNs and stuff.

For CDLCs you need to switch your server to the Creator DLC branch.

So I'm not in-game right now, just getting suggestions for when I try again(working on another game) but I have this issue where some HUD elements are beyond my screen edge. When I switch radio channels, I can only see the top of the letters and can only tell by the color, and when I play a mission that has optional unit commands, the icons are too far left. everything else like map, stance, ammo, are all where they should be. When I tried to move these elements in the HUD editor, I coudln't figure out how to do it

That part of the code is correct, but it's failing because it's not guaranteed to pick a valid player under certain conditions.

I would guess that you or someone else initially joined the server with the wrong mods and broke it.
