Hello, so I've been running into a issue with trying to run a session and my friend cannot see my server but I can see his. I've checked my ports and tried to find out what the issue is to no success. I'd really appreciate any tips or advice on how to solve this issue.

To host a server or a game session locally, you need to make sure first that your WAN address / external IP uses the IPv4 protocol!
Check your router’s status page in the settings to confirm. (If in doubt, ask your ISP, Websites like “whatismyip.com” give you a false positive!)
Local servers and games can not be hosted on an IPv6 network, or IPv4 via DSlite tunnel!

Once you have confirmed that your connection uses the IPv4 protocol, you need to manually open / forward the ports 2302-2306 UDP (https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3:_Dedicated_Server#Port_Forwarding)
See your router’s manual on how to do that, or ask google: “<your router model> + port forwarding”

I will take a look because my router could be sending out the wrong ip address since I've moved.
i think its the mods itself that are messed up, the server works and the mods work client side but server side everything is not working

disks error sounds like you are running out of disk space

either your hard drive is broken or you are out of space
whatever steam installs on your drive, you need at least double the free space
so, if you download a game/mod that is 4GB, you need at least 8GB of free disc space
also check if C has enough room just in case

Sure you can, most likely hidden in a folder you can access on the server with an FTP program. RPT files are important to trouble shoot. If the hoster hides them from you deliberately, find another hoster.
Then you definitely need to contact the hoster to get your server repaired to a default state.
Very likely, every time it starts up after being off for a while it could get a different IP. Even when in a different neighbourhood.
I ended up doing a hard reset on my router and it fixed the issue hope this helps someone else.

Just started having two weird issues today.
Any time I take any damage I instantly die. Using ACE and KAT Pharmacy. Nobody else is having this issue. It only happens on server, doesn't happen offline or hosted multiplayer on same mission file with same mods. Changing uniforms/vests makes no difference. Tried restarting Arma and relogging, issue persists. Tried repairing all mods, no change.
Second issue is with regards to view distance. Using CH View Distance with view distance set to 12k. Actual view distance is closer to 1k. When using keybind with CHVD set distance shows while holding key, but as soon as key is released view distance goes back to 1k. Nobody else is experiencing this issue. Repairing mod did not resolve issue.

I'm having an issue in the 3den editor, where when I try to move an object or unit I've placed, it pops underneath the map and I can't move it.

Hm reminds me of the behaviour that happens when you reach the movement 'extremes', that does some odd stuff sometimes

reinstall might be good idea here. Also make sure you clear up the steamapps\common\Arma 3 folder just in case you have put stuff in wrong places
loadouts etc are saved in the profiles folder

Issue resolved : mod that i was using injected itself in to the starting commandline

hey i need help, game was working fine while im running abt 40 mods with a unit but it crashed randomly and now im stuck on every time i launch the game, load the server and slot in, it crashes and gives me error code 0xC0000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION, i tried multiple fixes for it from what i read online but none have worked so far

The only tech gap now is that the "wheel rotate" animation is not available to perform using " vehicle animateSource [wheel_1_1, 0.9, 1]" , due to the engine limitation.
you can add additional animation bone with user action before the wheel bone if you like
AS per WIKI shows, some of the "animationNames" listed name is not allowed to trigger by script command

Thanks, .HG. So... let me introduce little more abt the background. My mod is adding some scripts to all "car" class. not to some specific vehicle. The surface type detection function has already been implemented. So What I am hoping to achieve is that do something on script level, not to rewrite the config on every vehicle which is not possible for me because there are countless vehicles in vanilla and workshop modes as you know. 😩

Better explain what you are running into, rather than ask to ask.
I was just running through the arma3.cfg file to tweak a few graphics settings and noticed that the file has still autodetected my old cpu, just wanted to know if i have to manually change this or if there is another way.
I guess you can remove those lines and it will do some tests to find details about the new one. Or it simply doesn't care about those. Might be just old left over stuff.
I keep coming across the issue of Arma 3 wiping all of my data. It doesn't happen all the time but it happens on occasion. When I load up the game itself I come across a pop-up message asking me: "Are you new to Arma 3?" Wipes everything from there. Saved arsenal loadouts, settings, etc.
I know it probably has to do something with renaming a profile itself in my folders, thus trying to constantly create a new profile.
Is there a workaround with this issue?
It's in my folder but I don't actually use it. I don't know if it's automatically enabled or if it's already disabled.

if you have the old profile files you can copy them into new profile folder and it should work

If you made backups then you would know them. They are not made by default. That is the user responsibility. And the majority of people never bother.
There are 3rd party programs that can make backups to other storage. Depending on your kind of Windows license you can do it with built in backup means.
well if Ive understood right onedrive should be the thing making the backups into cloud or whatnot
but dunno if it works right with Arma. At least I've heard many people have had problems with it

Your profile is stored in the 'Arma 3' folder in your documents. It is derived from the Windows user account name. Or in 'Árma 3 - Other Profiles' if you made a secondary profile from within the game with a custom name.
I'm using the Other Profiles for my main one.
Nvidia Control panel? On mine it has an option to set default choice for onboard GPU or dedicated GPU. And specific settings for a specific application.

This happens like every time I Run Arma 3, I play loads in the Eiden Editor, after like 10-15 min of playing the game just closes / crashes. I don't get and error messages, or crash reports.

Ok, CPU core speed looks alright enough. At least I get better rates with my comparable/slightly lower spec i5-4210h. I don't know why Arma 3 is not using your Nvidia GPU more. Aside from Nvidia Control panel option to force onboard GPU by default. Make sure that is not the case.

It's the server's profilename.vars.arma3profile file. Make you you are looking at the right profile. If nothing saved then you don't need to recover from an old save. Progress made during your play time obviously is lost. It should save every minute. Are you sure you did not use the reset option in the mission parameters?

In some other problem cases the RPT file might be usefull. I don't know what to find in that to solve or analyse your problem. But other people might.

those are stored in your profile
profile is stored in windows user folders
if you made new profile those would not transfer over unless you copy the files containing them
if your profile got wiped by some windows thing then it might be lost
if you use oneDrive, it often breaks the profile files for some reason

having a strange issue. I have a server setup in the house that our group uses for hosting our dedicated server. I have no issues joining that. however on a seperate VM on the same server we setup a mikeforce server. I am the only person unable to see the server in the browser. Ive tried joining through "join game" on friends list. ive tried direct connecting via ip. ive uninstalled mods. checked filters. checked nat settings on the server. but still am unable to see the server. Everyone else is able to see it just fine. any ideas?

You had mods loaded while this save game happened. You must have the same mods running as back then

then if i die, and decide to load a save i did while playing the mission this pops up

probably the old save files are using the old version of the mod
It is not installed by default in any Windows installation. Most games/applications install it on their own account if they need it. As Arma 3 should.
The x64 file if you have a 64-bit Windows OS (can't imagine who would still have a 32-bit one) and the x86 file incase you have programs that are pure 32bit applications. Doesn't hurt to install both. The _arm version is unlikely needed as that is more for embedded devices based on Arm processors.

On Arma 3, I can only set my texture quality to standard, with high not even showing up, any ideas on how to fix it? Even if I set the preset to ultra, texture quality stays at standard.
Might be something wrong with your hardware
Yeah, my laptop has 512 mb of VRAM, but it allocates 3 gb of RAM to the GPU
yeaah unfortunately I dont think you will be able to get any more from that
Alright. My old laptop, with about the same specs and a worse CPU was able to run the textures all the way up to ultra, of course the framerate was horrible, but it let me select it so I'll try some more stuff. When I get more RAM into my current laptop it may work better as well. Thanks.

Yo! Anyone experienced using Arma 3 on Linux? I'm trying to run through proton, and the game launches when I use -noLauncher. But the game won't detect any of my mods. I tried using a 3rd party launcher to enable mods, but the 3rd party launcher do not detect any mods either
I'm able to find the mods when I right-click the game in the Steam UI -> properties -> Workshop. There I'm supposed to be able to activate them AFAIU? I can click on them, but if I leave the tab and go back in again they're left unchecked...
you would need to add them to your commandline
running the launcher first is recommended though so when you join server through the launchers server browser it can set up mods for you

not sure what you exactly mean by launch parameters as I am not linux user but sounds like that would be where the -mod = @modnamesInarow should be
In Steam you can right-click a game, and under properties you can choose launch parameters
that would be very cumbersome way to launch the game though in case you ever change mods you use
Id strongly recommend using the launcher
or making whatever is linux equivalent to shortcuts
this because you can only join server if you are running correct mods
and you cant swap mods on the fly

That rpt file is a log file. It should at least contain the beginning of the commandline used to start the server or game. That may provide more clues what goes wrong.

the error itself doesn't mean anything but my guess is either you load too many mods at once and your pc can't handle that or one of them is broken/one is conflicting with another

You have a huge number of mods. Start with the basics, or no mods at all, test if you server works. Then slowly add mods in increments and check again. Repeat until if fails. You can't diagnose this big blurry soup of mods.
At the top of the RPT file hidden in that zip the first sign of a bad mod is this:

Me and my friend wanted to play a game mode with ACE but when I joined the server it told me I have a different version of ACE, I checked my version, we both were using the same version I tried reinstalling it and even deleting the entire folder for it but I still have that issue anyone can help please?
What matters is that both of you have the same version as the server. Maybe the server has an old version compared to what you 2 have gotten from Steam. Ace is released on Steam by an acount named Acemod. It also published ACE Compat for various RHS mods. I don't know what you have exactly on your system. But get it from the original source.

You must have corrupt key files that make the verification go wrong.
Check if you have any bisign files related to Ace in the keys folder of Arma 3. It is in the install folder in your library.
To be sure you don't have any left over other files for ACE:
Shutdown Steam, Arma 3 and the Arma 3 launcher.
Go into the install folder of Arma 3 in your library with Explorer or something.
In it you should find a hidden folder called !Workshop
In it you should also find the ACE mod folder.
Remove any file and folder in it.
Restart Steam, Verify Arma 3
Start Arma 3 Launcher, in your mod list, click the Ace mod, click the 3 dots.
Repair Ace mod with the command shown.

I can join the private server no problem but then the public server i can only access while im running a vpn. no one else has any issues joining. The vms are located on my server rack. just kinda lost one what i could be missing
If you have 2 servers in your home, you need to port forward both with each a different set of ports. To avoid problems the next one starting 100 ports aways from the first. Like UDP 2302-2306 and 2402-2406
Hello, I've come back to Arma after a long time and was ready to start Zeusing again but this annoying thing popped up which wasn't happening before.
The thing is when I'm in Zeus and press Q (Move up) the camera moves up, from the looks of it, two times more then it should by pressing the button once. It doesn't happen for the other control Y (Move down). I've already checked for any other inputs and I haven't found any other colliding contol binding. Has anyone here experienced this problem before?

Hello fellas, I've been having issues setting up my TrackIR. When I try using the "Tracking device -tY/+tY" or the "Tracking device -tZ/+tZ" in conjuction with any of the adjust stance key bindings, they seem to ignore the + & - direction, only doing the stance adjust action if there is sufficient movement on either negative or positive vectors on their corresponding axes.
In this video I am attempting to bind the +tY axis to adjust stance up and vise versa with the -tY axis.

It also seems to take into account which action is first in the code environment do decide which action to use.
Not sure if this is a known issue or not but I feel its warranted to bring it to your attention. I can write a bug report if you guys want it.

Alright, how do I get AI to attack groundforces like tanks and such.
Checked ammo types and stuff. I selected the unit I want the AI Aircraft to attack and gave the order to attack but all they do is fly bys.

Is there any way of squeezing out more frames from arma? I hav a gt 730 and get around 45 frames in single player. I am joining milsim with around 50 people per deployment and apparently frames drop. I dropped my render resolution to 83 percent and as far as I will do op is. Everything is on low except terrain which is standard.
don't use low settings... use autodetection and then reduce view distance. the lower you go with the overall settings, the more load you will shift to the CPU

Anyone ever have Arma switch their virtual surround sound after opening it? I use Dolby Atmos for virtual surround but every time I launch Arma it switches to Windows Sonic
It may not apply immediately to your problem, but there are some pinned messages about audio problems (check the pin in the top right). Arma 3 isn't really doing all that well with fancy audio. Just 2-channel analog audio works best in the long run. Though for some, like me, my wireless Steelseries 1 headset works fine.

Tell the host to return to the scenario selection screen. Then you connect. Once you’re on the loading screen tell him to select the scenario and you will connect fine. I have this often with friends and this is the best solution I can find.

Did you mean the Arma 3 units website connection on your A3 launcher? That should not affect multi-player/mods/dlc's. Best is to restart your game/launcher and if it still continues restart steam. And if no other games have the issue verify you game

Hello everyone, in my server i have 33 mods but after i add one more the launcher stops providing info about the mods. In my .rpt files it talks about steam query data overflow, how do i fix it. I use TADST for the dedicated server
Add the line steamProtocolMaxDataSize = 1024; to your server config file (the one that has your server name, server password, mission cycle, etc. ; I don't know how TADST allows to edit this) and increase the number until it works.

I don't use TADST myself. I simply edit my config files and run the server by batchfile and shortcut.

Maybe some other application uses capslock too for something? Or are you using an USB based audio device? If so, consider the pinned messages and try to replicate it with analog audio/3.5mm jack connection.

Try one of our C4G KotH servers, we updated them but it still shows the red icon, should work though. It is just the update.

There may be a glitch in the in-game server browser that falsely marks 2.08 servers as incompatible. Try connecting any way, or use the Launcher server browser instead. We will be looking into this and anything else reported.

There are ways to get a DNS domain name that get updated through DDNS services. Some free, others cost money. Then you only need to remember the name to find the IP. Like ping the name, get the IP.
Or just insert the dns name instead of the IP and Arma will find the server.
Server browser shows Red X for servers because it thinks there is a version missmatch.
There is no missmatch, the version number is just being reported incorrectly via Steam Serverbrowser, you can still connect and play just fine.

Both client and server have the most recent version (forced updated the server and validated all game files on the client) I can also join the server without any messages about wrong game version.

Getting consistent server/HC access violations with the 32-bit server exe since 2.08, either on startup or first AI spawn. 64-bit server exe seems to work fine.

Probably because the people who are versed enough to run a experimental performance build are also versed enough to not run 32bit

Well in our instance, there isn't really a possibility, it's just what the Server Provider uses

Hey, since the update I can no longer join a server properly without getting kicked out after a few minutes (Even the updated one of me and my friends). Whatever arma server I find, they all have red crosses with them, telling me I have a different game version, whilst it asks me for 2.08, whilst I have 2.08.
Does anyone have a clue?
Apparently switching to the 64bit version was really easy with the server provider lol. Thanks Dedmen and John for pointing out and working on the issue, the server works now! 
I think most of them have a tickbox, although there was one guy on Streamline who thought he'd picked 64-bit but was clearly running 32-bit in the RPT. Can't necessarily count on the interface working.
@neat summit I think the red crosses are just an aesthetic bug and have no effect. What sort of "kicked out" is this?
Well, when one of us connects, we are allowed to be in the server for like a minute or 4
and then we just disconnect
the red x'es can be ignored.
What does "just disconnect" mean? "No message received" or just pop back to main menu
We get a Time-out no message received
Is the server crashing?
No, it doesn't dissapear from the server lists, (and the owner is currently working) so I can't go into much more detail

We ran a big QA test on stable before we released it and then everything was fine :sad:

The biggest issues will be solved by profiling branch release in a few hours.

Since the last update (2.08) I have the problem that the creation of tasks with (BIS_fnc_taskCreate) no longer works.
My mission is played in multiplayer and the tasks are created by the server. It worked for 4-5 years now it doesn't work anymore.
Here is an example from my mission who worked bevor 2.08:
_taskID = str _location (is CBA_NamespaceDummy object);
_taskDes = is defined in the CfgTaskDescriptions (
E.g. "beo_task_convoy")[true,_taskID,_taskDes,objNull,"CREATED",0,false,"attack",false] call BIS_fnc_taskCreate;
No task would be create in the DiaryRecord.
I found out that the Problem must be the _taskID
(E.g. "2191336: empty.p3d").
So the string of a CBA_NamespaceDummy dosent work anymore. I think there are characters in it that are no longer accepted (mayby the space, colon or point).
Okay it is the number(s) + colon (:) at beginning who is not more accept after the 2.08 update.
reproduce (Eden Editor):
- place a player
- open Debug console
- enter this line:

If it should be like this since 2.08 that you have to filter the strings for the right format then please let me know. Then I have to rebuild my mission after 5 years. Otherwise I hope the troubleshooting helps you and it will be fixed in a patch. Sincerely yours

There was a bug about JIP queue (tasks were never removed, they would clutter up JIP queue and may even DoS the server)
Fix was priving a valid JIP id for it.
Problem...
the id is toLower _id and its passed to remoteExec.
If you look https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/remoteExec
JIP accepts "netId" a netId is number:number
so if you have number:... ded
Wiki even says
If the string is in format "Number:Number" (e.g. "0:0"), it is interpreted as a netId (see below)
But what wiki doesn't say is that "Number: bla bla garbage bla bla" is also interpreted as a netId.
you probably wanna prefix the ID there :P
Or fix the engine improperly thinking something thats not a netid is a netid
Also today I learned there is a undocumented 4th parameter for remoteExec :u
Found a fix for getting into my server after this update, kinda sucky though. The method is to delete and re-create your profile, the kicker is that you have to start from the ground up on all your kits that you made 😅

Hello, having an issue with my server, it is modded. It seems like it's very similar to some already listed. We load in and get booted, for us it's at the same time. But differs on the time we can stay in from mission to mission. Some kick us out immediately and some kick us out after a few minutes. One we were on for 10-15 minutes and it didn't kick us.
The only abnormal thing it does server side is:

It does that right as it crashes. I know mods haven't updated yet or anything, just want some insight if possible if it's something I should wait for a hotfix for or just start trying to fix the server.

Are you running 32bit? don't run 32bit or grab #perf_prof_branch server exe in ~30 minutes
Probably means you need to repair Arma in steam.

Men that have been give just dont have a radio and taking one just puts it in the inventory but is not being able to be used in any way.
The modset we are using shouldnt be the problem as we used and tested it a long time and there were no updates for any of the mods in the last days/weeks
Tried it via Single-Player and Editor-Multiplayer mode
cc @quaint jewel did some more investigation; looks like the server does crash, so ignore what I said earlier. It crashes when it loads in AI (Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 00000000) and shows the time out message to users being connected

switch to #perf_prof_branch v1 which was just released with the fix, or use 64bit server

My friend can't join my server it says he needs 2.08 even though we both have it how do I fix this
I've got a bit of a problem,
Inside of a jet in first person I am practically unable to hear the beeping of a missile lock on, it's still there but barely audible. In third person I can hear it clearly, so far I have found no fix for this.
I've tried validating files through steam, booting up the game in vanilla, turning up volume of radio and other solutions people offered but none of it has worked.
Any chance someone knows how to fix this?

32-bit Arma has a crash bug in 2.08. Armahosts uses 64-bit servers but 32-bit headless clients.
@umbral narwhal I am using Nitrado, I am usure if it is forcing 32bit but in the settings I have it set to 64bit on both the Main server and the HC's. (Picture is of one of the HC's they all run the same settings.)

I run a Host Havoc server, and I can say that I am having the same issues others are having. Any custom missions my unit has made cannot run due to the new update, desyncing everyone and crashing the server. I also got this message from the site as well, not sure any of this info helps

An error! If it is a mission, dump it, ignore it, tell it's creator that he has a job to fix this. Move on in the mean time.
What is the error is what I meant, because its on multiple eden missions I've made.
That code gets an object, but expected some other kind of datastructure, like an Array, string or config entry. I don't know SQF. Ask in #arma3_scripting .
