Im experiencing very bad response time from triggers all the sudden.. i use triggers to activate hide/show modules for objects as player enter/exit the area. This has always worked very good but in the last few days the triggers or hide/show modules seem to really lag out.
Ive been using the same mod line and before it worked fine but now a trigger set to unhide a area instantly now all of the sudden has like a 30-50 second delay.

Has anything changed in the last few weeks or to cause this or could it be down to server lag (thou we have another community running liberation on same dedi with the same mod line and they have not reported and lag). Any suggestion as to what could be the cause all the sudden, two weeks ago we did not have the problem

Trigger or Hide/Show modules still work as they should in editor but once on dedi then they have a massive delay to active ...for the life of me i cant figure out what is causing it

ok... place items say in a house along with hand full of AI...create a layer and named say OBJ1.

  • Create 200m sized trigger for player not present and link to hide module and set to layer OBJ1
  • Create 200m sized trigger for player present and link to show module and set to layer OBJ1

Player enters trigger all is undhidden, shoot some badguys
then exits trigger and all remaining item are hidden.

I do it this way to have detailed scenes were needed but to then hide them if no players in the area

no, spectator is only used to double check if layers are unhidden instead of running there to check.
the delay seems to occur somewhere between entering trigger and items being unhide

something is bugging out here...there is even a delay on opening doors, it would seem that laggy trigger and door is a symptom of the main issue

I think something else to ask is "what else is going on in the mission"? How many objects, what else is being called, is anything being spawned, etc, etc. Or are we talking about 1 trigger, 1 player and 1 object? Or are we talking about 1 trigger, 1 player and 5k objects?

Hey. When i try binding my Joystick Throttle to the Plane Thrust Analog, it only recognises half of the throttle. So i flip the throttle lever up to 50% and nothing happens, anything above, it accelerates the plane. Hope someone knows a solution.

if so, install OBS on both plus the NDI plugin. set your gaming PC as NDI streaming source (no performance issues/hit) and your second PC as NDI receiver. the second PC will receive the NDI feed from your game rig and also does the heavy lifting of encoding for streaming. this is a 2 PC streaming setup without a capture card

16 should be good, make sure he's running 64bit arma, and no "bad" mods. I cannot tell you which mods are bad, but if he's running alot, then there might be a bad one in there

Hello There, here because i have some problems with Arma 3 contact, the entire thing works fine till the point with the hostage scene where the russians lock you into the shed, basicly the scene does not trigger for me. I can walk into the camp, rudwell gives his comments, the music starts playing e.t.c but then nothing else happens.

I already tried reverting the mission and trying again, no luck, i just validated steam files but all succesfully validate so i dont think its that. Anyone who knows my problem?

if it's a USB headset and you're on win 10, there is not much you can do. MS screwed up fubar with 2017 autumn update and USB audio devices.
you got two options if you want to keep the headset:

  1. revert back to win8.1
  2. (not sure if it works for you) remove all traces of realtek drivers and software and disable the onboard sound card in bios

We're using ACE No Medical, if that makes any difference, and CBA. I've exported the settings after changing them, but have no idea what to do with them...

@fringe salmon You would want to go into the server's game directory, specifically userconfig and find your ace folder inside. In there should be a config file where you can replace all of the settings with your own.

The server is dedicated and I'm not the host, so don't have those files. But I'll try to guide him to them. Night vision REALLY needs a touch, it's just impossible to see with it, even in a clear night.

you "need to" change no file at all normally. Normally you go to settings while logged in as admin, and just change server settings

I think I saw a line saying that on BattlEye's official website but cannot find it again. Probably misinterpreted / misread it although some site say it's the case and I've already seen people getting banned on X game and the game affecting the Y game (from another publisher) but maybe there are other factor that I'm not aware of.

I have a problem with sound in Arma 3.
The sounds in the menu, the sounds of the interface, the music I hear normally.
The sounds of steps, vehicles, shots I hear only in the left earphone.
It is very difficult to determine the side from where the transport goes or the enemy shoots, because these sounds are only in one headphone.

The problem is that some USB headsets with surround don't work correctly, and only play sounds on the left side with certain games or specific cases.
This can be solved by forcing it to Stereo mode (which usually is done through software or Windows settings), or reinstalling the sound drivers.

So yes, Arma is not realistic when it stops the car instead of killing the wheels, but you won't be driving for long or with any speed either.
And that other objects are broken (as in, don't affect the vehicle/speed) is something else.

you still don't need hamanchi to host or join a server that's hosted on a clients machine either via the ingame hosting or via the dedi, its probably something to do with the hosting client not having porting set up properly.

Hey guys, i have been playing with tanks and apcs (with ai in the vehicle) over the recent days and a problem has re-emergerd that i have had forgotten about. I have a problem with the turret controls when either aquiring "Manual Fire" as commander OR when repeatably switching between the commander and gunner position.

Problem:

As commander with manual fire enable, moving the turrent in one direction always ends with a jump/spin back of the turret in the opposite direction. This makes aiming very tiresome. If i disable manual fire the turret (my viewpoint) behaves correctly again. If i switch between gunner and commander a couple of times, the same behaviour can happen in the commander position without manual fire and in the gunner position as well. I have tested this with no mods and a fresh user profile to make sure i have no weird double bindings setup myself.

i have controlled for that as well. On off doesn't matter. Just to be clear. Which ever turrent you look through in a tank in whatever role, aiming should be as precise as with infantry except for the slight inertia of the moving turret.

alright, i found the culprit....i should have know!!! Damn logitech Setpoint. I have some investigation to do what on earth this handy but troublesome piece of software does here.

So the issues revolves around the key " /[Num] ". Its not really about the logitech software afterall, but whenever that key is pressed on the numpad section of my keyboard, i have this behaviour. I usually use that key (bound on my mouse) as the "default action" key. But even when unbinding that in arma and disabling the logitech software, pressing that key gives the same weird behaviour. Which makes me think that key is hardcoeded in arma for some function that eludes me right now. Any idea what /[Num] might be hardcoded to?

Would you be so kind and try this yourself when you have the time? It seems like it doesn't seem to matter whether /[Num] is bound to anything in arma or not. So i tested this on my brothers machine and there is the same behaviour. So either the "division" key on the numpad has some special function in windows or the amd graphics driver or soemthing, or its one of those hardcoded arma quirks one just has to work around.

Anyone ever stumbled on this kind of strange behaviour with vehicle creation?

The following sript under the hood makes it possible for players to create vehicles in multiplayers missions:

_createVeh = createVehicle [_classname, (player getPos [8, direction player]), [], 0, "NONE"];
_createVeh setDir direction player +90;```
The position of the created vehicle will be 8 meters from the player (and in the direction where the player will be looking at the moment of the vehicle's creation) with the additional angle adjustment of 90 degrees. This works for let's say 95% of the time.

But then there's some edge cases where the created vehicle spawns 10-30 meters away from the player and often not even directly to the front of the player (which it should do at all times).

I think it might be these which are causing your issue,

"NONE" - will look for suitable empty position near given position (subject to other placement params) before placing vehicle there.
"CAN_COLLIDE" - places vehicle at given position (subject to other placement params), without checking if others objects can cross its 3D model.
"FLY" - if vehicle is capable of flying and has crew, it will be made airborne at default height.

the only thing I can think of that will kill your FPS when inside a vehicle (in first person view) is PiP, especially if your system is not balanced out and graphical settings are not matching your system.

@uncut trellis I did some testing with setPosATL. It worked as in the created vehicles spawned where I was looking. But adjusting the position with setPosATL also did away with the collision check which meant that vehicles spawned so close to other objects that stuff went literally flying

Hello guys. So, for some reason, Arma 3 has been very strange ever since yesterday. I started playing after ~2 weeks of being inactive, and I've had a couple of problems:

  1. When I'm in game and I alt-tab, the PC would switch the program but then the display would blink/flicker after 0.5-1 second of switching. Think of how your display turns black when you alt tab into/from a fullscreen program. Same thing here but it's much shorter and more annoying.

  2. The Arma 3 Launcher crashed yesterday for the first time after 3 years of Arma 3 while I was in game. I've got the crash log file on my desktop. System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

  3. Yesterday, when I started up Arma 3, my Windows theme switched to Classic. I was able to get it back to the normal Aero after an hour of fixing it, but for some reason, transparent stuff in my wallpaper background isn't black, but it's now white.

Still sounds like a windows problem, you can try verifying game files.
Windows 7 has always had an issue with changing from aero to classic, something in the OS thinks that aero uses up more performance than classic and it triggers when gaming even when the game isn't using 100% usage of your hardware.

IFA3 is actually known for breaking stuff (we currently run it on our server, or try to...)

Best is to simply go through all the mods and see which one is causing the issue; either by testing (add one mod at a time), or go through the source code and see which one is trying to mess with ACE.

And of course... missions can do a lot of damage as well.

Hey, anyone familiar with signing mods - you able to help me with this one? I recently added a couple retexture configs to my pack, signed them with my private key via DSUtils, added the mod to the server, added the server key to the server, and tried to connect to it. For whatever reason, it's telling me that the mods are not accepted by a key on the server.

I haven't changed anything about the way I sign my pack, I just added two PBO's that are just basic retexture configs.

iirc its an issue with steamCMD,. it will only work if you have 2fa setup to email you the codes and not through the Steam Mobile app,. it's stupid and broken that it doesn't work using the 2fa codes produced with their own app and has been an issue for a number of years..

I have looked in my regedit and could not find any info relating to BIStudio. I had a few other developers look and they also had nothing located in there regedit.

Ok so some progress i validated through steam and it reaquired a file so downloaded and re verified. All good. Then tried to open and same thing HOWEVER this time publisher is showing up in the details for 5 seconds. So validated again and 1 file needed validating again.

ACE has a custom damage handler, so if ACE doesn't want you to die, you won't die... And ADV ACE CPR is using that system, so shouldn't cause issues.
The Spectator thing is a mission setting which is tied to the Respawn Templates (which is NOT compatible with respawns).

there are 2 mods which I'm not familiar with but do things with ACE, so can't rule out them being a problem:

  • ACE Ragdolling

btw... the only way to find out what is causing the issue is to start the game with only CBA + ACE and test... add single mod... test again... and again... and again... till you found the problem

I have removed all our addon options, and made them as they are at the very start.
Weve run some trouble shooting and there are no errors, ace is not bugged, and we are waking up without any issues. For now anyway

The only thing relevant I have for this is Aebian.Arma3Profile however as far as I can tell this only holds the controller and their GUID but I couldn't find where he actually binds thid GUID to bound controls. In the settings of Arma the controls have greyed out assignments for that throttle and stick

My friend and I are making a dedicated server but we have ran into a problem. We start it up and the first error I see is "Addon 'rhs_c_2s1' requires addon 'rhs_2s3". I thought that by placing the needed file in all the rhs folders would fix this, but it didnt. The next problem we have showing up is "bin/config.bin/CfgAmmo/rhs_ammo_TOW_AT/EventHandlers/: Cannot find base class 'EventHandlers'" in which there is nothing showing on google or bing about this. If possible, can I get someone to help us with these problems and ossibly even join a call with screenshare?

something in windows is blocking access to the profile files. Could be windows permission stuff since the files are under USER files

make sure your user has write permission on said files/folders

go to the manufacture site of your motherboard, download all needed drivers and install them manually, to the same for GPU and all other devices. never let windows to "it's thing"

once done, restart the PC and try again

also check your device manager for missing drivers

copy, all drivers for the GPU are installed, not the motherboard... all drives are fine so i will do that

@wise barn drivers are a very unlikely cause for that crash.. so.. I'd not waste time with that.

it's not a waste of time. installing and updating drivers this way has no negative effect. it's recommendable to have it's system up to date and not use the windows automated driver installation.
in this case tho, it's questionable if it was the cause, sure. but from my experience, issues with GPU and on board audio drivers have caused access violations before, so yes... drivers are my personal go-to first aid task

It may mean your windows user is blocked out of that folder.

So ive played Arma 3 a lot and now, for about a month or 2, Arma will crash about 60-90 mins after launch (I assume its actually after joining a MP server) with it usually doing 1 of 2 things. A) Freezing the game (not responding) with audio still playing, being able to ctrl+alt+del to task manger and getting stuck there with nothing happening having to restart computer. B) Everything freezes and cant do a thing. I've only been able to obtain one error message; ...software exception 0x0eedfade at location 0x0000000075B835D2. I have 4 "crash logs" (for lack of right terminology) saved. Any thoughts or resources I can go looking at? (With mods)

First you would need to test if the problem happens without mods and if it does the BI support might be able to assist you. But if it doesn't and its a mod problem (which I would wager it it) then you would first have to figure out witch mod it is (process of elimination) and then find out if the author can do anything to fix it, or you'll just have to stop using the problem mod.

It also could be a scenario problem where something in the scenario scripts goes poop.
