What's happening?

Basically it doesn't transmit my voice on some servers
But it still detects my voice and auto adjusts the mic sensitivity correctly
And it still transmits on other servers
Never heard of that one...

Yes the 2 lines is all you need.
OB Buldozer still not working. I've set up the P: drive with the very simple mapdisk.bat and Arma3p.cmd method. P: seems to be working great, but Buldozer not so much. MikeRo told me to check out the model_makers channel, because he recalled a discussion about using OB in win7 compat mode. I tried that, too, but to no avail. I've done a search for the discussion, but I cannot seem to find it.
@quaint jewel Had this to say about buldozer: In object builder. File->Options you can specify the buldozer executable. Copy arma3.exe or arma3_x64.exe to your pdrive and use that
This seems to conflict with what MikeRo and his documents say, that having .exe files in your P: drive is a disaster waiting to happen. I think Dedmen's method is how I had it working before, but now that I'm trying to do things more in line with MikeRo Tools (since I subscribed), then it's harder to figure out how to get it working in Win10.
Well you can also link it to your real arma binary i guess

e:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 3\arma3.exe is the path I'm using in OB options (sans modifiers).
Just for gits and shiggles, I tried pasting in arma3.exe into P:\ drive (just temporailly, @wet coyote). I made the path in OB options P:\arma3.exe. Launching Bd from OB, a steam warning first popped up and said "you are attemtpting to run arma 3 with these parameter: (sites the modifiers in the OB options External Viewer path).
I clicked ok, and it just started up the Arma 3 launcher.
Clearly, I'm missing or overlooking something...
Make sure steam is running first
and that you also have steam_appid.txt
once steam hijacks you, it won't actually launch what you want with the parameters that you want

So... maybe a specific rundown of what I'm doing is in order?
checklist:
setup P: drive and buldozer according to PMC guidelines - yes
opening Tools directly from their locations in the directory, or from created shortcuts - yes
run OB and mapdisk as normal, then admin, then normal again - yes
Steam is running - yes (runs on start up, wait to finish updates, etc.)
Path of "external Viewer" in OB options points to arma3.exe file, but not placed in P: as per Mikero - yes
steam_appid.txt in place with arma3.exe - yes (and tried with P:\arma3.exe for temp try/experiment).
Process from fresh PC boot:
Steam starts up; I wait until it's done.
Start mapdisk (will add to autostart later).
Start OB from shortcut.
Start Bd from within OB.
The missing viewer error pops up immediately, almost before I click bd

the 100 line bat file from bis, is 100 lines in order to supply you a user P:\ >>>and<<< an admin P:\
(with one exception) if you ever need to use admin mode, you are not only doing something wrong, it is fatal to your pc's health (and won't do much for yours either when disaster strikes). If the thought of letting bis scribble anywhere they want to and alter anything on your pc doesn't fill you with terror, you should, perhaps, give up modding and go play outside. To be fair, i'd even get scared letting my tools loose on your pc.

the first most obvious fact of all is that there's no such thing. There is only, ever, the game.exe running in buldozer mode. Bis have quite literally renamed the 'game'.exe to 'buldozer'.exe and put it on the p drive thinking they're being helpful.
+which exe? because first and foremost it is always, inevitably, a stale out dated copy of an exe without updates and fixes. It bares no relationship the one you have on your pc. (and not at bis central, either). The last time i looked at it, it's config bin was last used in the BETA version of arma3 !!!!

+to successfully run the game.exe on the p: drive, it requires a dozen or so dlls, appid.txt and a host of cfgs that are already present, already installed, already 'updated' when required, in the steam\arma3 folder. Why are you duplicating the effort and what makes you think those dlls won't change? Again, if you run 'buldozer' as bis want you to, you are subject to their mercy of keeping it updated. They have never done so in the past. What makes you think anything is going to change there?
+Bis binarise, (not buldozer) will have a screaming hissy fit if it finds unexpected files on the p drive. Principally, it misinterprets .cpp and .cfg files that have no business being there. My tools actually prevent bis binarise from scanning the p drive at all, but why are you risking it crashing without any common sense reason?
+if you putting ANY exe on the p drive, you are giving that exe permission (and the updaters that support it) to scribble anywhere on that drive. Bis, famously, erased the p drive in one of their updates, thinking it was their arma tools folder and they wanted to scrap everything in there and start again. Caveat Emptor.
so far he seems to have tried all the commonly working ways to setup P with the subst bat and your arma3p and pointing to A3 exe but for some reason the viewer still is not connecting

As stated, it was a temporary attempt to see if it indeed "worked" as it did before, the effed-up way. It does not. What would my next step have been? I don't know. More like a feeling of mild apprehension. Am I going to go play outside because of it? No.
Believe it or not, this stuff isn't widespread knowledge. I'm just trying to get stuff out there. I don't have a big fancy team (yet) with experts to help do stuff the perfect way. I'm not attacking or faulting anyone, and I don't expect such backlash.
For now, I'll have to make due without using buldozer. At least I have things in better condition than before, and I can truly thank the people here for that, including (read: especially) Mike Andrew.
I hope that my use of the words "was" and "temporary" are enough to help people understand that I have since changed things back to proper, don't-let-BI-jackup-your-system mode.
is it possible for you to try creating a real disk partition called P: and use that as P drive instead of the virtual one?

so, whilst my usb headset mic won't transmit on some servers, I plugged in my iphone headphones and that mic works fine on all servers

That's your problem right there... Win10 f*cked that really good with the 2017 creators Update. No known fix for that beside reverting back to 8.1 or trying to disable All onboard Sound and deinstalling All realtek drivers/software
No guaranty for that, but if you use an external USB Sound device and have literally all realtek stuff disabled it might work
Do you have a USB Headset, or just a USB mic?

Try uninstalling All realtek drivers/Software and disable the onboard Sound in your BIOS first before thinking of getting a soundcard

This is still all experimental. I'm still collecting Infos about this common issue, but for now realtek and win10 seem to be the problem

Yes, almost no problems as long only analogue wired Audio is used. The combination of USB and an active analogue component (onboard soundcard/Chip) seems to be the problem

not sure if this is the right channel but im having some issues with mod creation. i have created a 1x1 test cube with everything working properly in game BESIDES i cant find/place the object in Zeus specifically. I can place it in the editor, and can spawn in in my test server with a normal createVehicle console command. it is preloading in the mission correctly i assume as it shows up in server ingame config as "CfgAddons" >> "PreloadAddons" >> "sobek_objects_class" with a list = "sobek_objects_class". i think my CfgPatches and CfgVehicles classnames are correct, and i have both scope and scopeCurator set to 2. in-game zeus is enabled for all addons (including unofficial) which is functioning correctly because other mods are spawnable as normal. ive tried all that i can find but im welcome to any suggestions! https://pastebin.com/raw/rWst6sGW
@fringe salmon your CfgPatches is incorrect, you are missing the requiredAddons.
Your inheritance in CfgVehicles is complete overkill and you don't use 90% of that stuff.

I don't know what you have the PreloadAddons for, but I've left that in.
Also make sure the paths to your model/icon are correct.
@quaint jewel wasn't sure i needed any requiredaddons in this case, is that line always required even if left empty? and how would i know what to require for a given mod? I started with a template from online so I'm glad i can go without the class list previous to Static, just hadn't bothered with shortening it cause i was too frustrated so thanks for that! I added PreloadAddons sometime when trying to get this to work because some X year old forums were saying it could be an issue with it not loading before mission startup, I dont mind less code if it's not needed! im working with this now from your code https://pastebin.com/raw/Y185v8pq which I much prefer but im still having the same issue. As a sanity check, in a new empty mission ive placed a unit variable named "man" and a game master module and ive set the game master's owner to "man" and set addons to "all addons (including unofficial ones)" but again Cube is still not showing in zeus but works with editor and spawn commands (am I doing the ingame part correctly?). not sure, but you don't ever not need required addons. I can't think of a sensible mod that wouldn't need them
Your mod ALWAYS depends on the base game doesn't it? Its a mod, can't mod something if nothing is there.
Are you using zeus search to find it?
its probably under Empty->Structures

maybe for sooome reason the changes you're making don't apply. Check ingame config viewer

Thing is more expensive simulation wise than Building. Ofc doesn't matter for your testing, but might matter later
yeah i noticed Thing has physics in zeus while i assume Building does not. shouldnt matter for my scale performance wise but could be an issue when trying to make objects i want to be static and not have gravity
buildings can definitely be spawnable in zeus, just dunno how
its strange because in default zeus you can spawn arma buildling which i assume use a Building tag

hi, i duckduckgo'ed a bunch and couldn't find any thing directly pointing to any definitive, gonna ask here instead if you don't mind: when i am in single-player campaigns, everything is ducky, i get working audio, but if i jump into a multiplayer server (like say for a co-op session on a Volition Server) the audio stops working when the Arma 3 client is logging into the server. Not only does this stop the Arma 3 game audio, it also muted the Spotify Win 10 app in the background. Basically all audio are muted.

hey so i have an issue with arma. Basically i have 2 monitors and M1 i use for arma and M2 for other stuff. My issue is suddenly now when i move my mouse over or monitor 2 and click on anything the game automatically just minimizes itself dispite being on windowed mode on monitor 1. anyone know why this is the case? because its pretty annoying tabbing in/out

Hey! If i want to start my ArmA 3 Server it stuck at "Connected to Steam Servers" is there any fix?
howdy folks. Q for those that like a head scratcher. Brand new map and server, mods are correct for both. New map is confirmed working during testing via local LAN MP server. Load map onto dedicated server, config mission_1 set to the map. Server boots up fine, no errors. Load into the server via in game server browser, returns error "OPTRE_Vehicle_suchandsuch" no longer exists. been scratching my head over this for a couple hours now, as everything that could be causing issues, has already been looked at.

and dedicated throws different errors to local host
its just strange as the map works on another server i run

testing it via local returns no errors. loaded on the dedi returns that error for both server and client.

then it got corrupted

All that says is that it can't find a class that's referenced in the .sqm
That only happens when that data isn't loaded eg, the mods not loaded or its corrupted
RPT will give you more info, but tbh i'm not surprised OPTRE is a steaming pile of garbage

yeah, my fps still go around 25-30 in servers with too much people or with high view distance. however, the freeze happens nearly anytime.
something that I did was to reduce the percentage of the cpu that could be used through the control panel, and maybe it was a coincidence but the game didnยดt freeze for a while, around 40 minutes-1 hour, when I stopped playing.

@warm kiln My best guess, which is something that happens to my headphones, is that the sound is directly behind you, and if the software doesn't know how to send that to my headphones, it simply doesn't have you hear anything. I don't know if I ever got around to fixing that.
Hm, seems I haven't fixed it at all. I have sound play anywhere on my rear and I hear... nothing.
Though this could be something specific to Voicemeeter Banana, to simulate rear sounds.
It's a virtual audio mix software sorta thing. It helps in certain audio things, but isn't really needed unless you want to have isolated comm sounds, so that streaming doesn't hear discord, but hears game audio.
Unless you need to mix audio sources and isolate the audio of certain programs, don't worry about it.
I just used it to test rear audio, since there is a GUI to tell it to output rear, front, side, etc. Fully rear was completely silent, though any level between forward and not fully rear is fine.
If it is only Arma 3 that is doing this, see if you can't tell Arma 3 to output in Stereo, and not 5:1 or 7:1. If your headphones can support proper 5:1 or 7:1 you should be fine, but if not it might be trying to output rear audio, which obviously two speakers can't handle

Then check if windows is outputting sound to your headphones as Stereo, or something else.

The mentioned clients can see and connect via VPN only, but otherwise nothing.

What's that's the router?
That's for a range. If it only has that, then you put the same port start and finish for a single port. Leave internal port empty. Internal host is the LAN IP of your computer. Remote Host can probably be left blank too. But it depends on your router.

it might show them as loaded, but not actually load them at all if it runs into permission issues

So few weeks ago the game was working fine
But recently my arma 3 game freezes every time I open map or see map in the start of a mission for briefing

I also opened task manager and it says arma 3 not responding

Basically running vanilla arma

good to know, I feel like my game is more fluent now when i play koth, but these changes I made matched with finding the solution to my pc freezing (due to overheating of the cpu), so I think it's because of that.
Offical ones were/are experimental tests to fix x issue, if they were/are successful, then the default malloc will be updated.
I only have one fan that works just fine, so it's kinda weird that the temperature of my cores went from the maximum supported, 80ยฐ, to around 45ยฐ/50ยฐ by changing the maximum usage allowed

Players can only join my local server while in mission selection. Once I've moved on to slotting (or any step further), they connect and then immediately get disconnected. Has anyone had this problem before, and does anyone know of any solutions? If it matters, I'm playing with UPNP instead of forwarding ports manually.
missing mods on clients?
No mods active on the server or client, as far as I know.
- UPNP is known to be sketch when it comes to Arma
- Usually as Dedmen hinted its mod related, can be other things, there is usually an error message (for less than half a second, its hard to get a screenshot, its easier to just record it) in the bottom right of the screen just before being disconnected.

@brisk fable when your players want to join your mission, instead of sitting in the lobby, sit on mission selection.
Wait for them to connect through the chat tab
Once they're all connected
Switch off the mission selection into an actual mission.
Should work, it did for me.
It's some weird problem with local hosting in general.
And will probably not have any error message beyond "connection failed" on the client's side

Yeah, I know that workaround, and have been using it. Hence the Players can only join my local server while in mission selection part. I've been looking for a solution to that so people can join during slotting or JIP.
If, as SnakeDoc says UPNP is sketchy when it comes to ArmA then I can just try properly forwarding my ports and see if it works then.

Not only to me but others who try it with port forwarding and upnp.
They technically can get on past the mission selection
It's really annoying because when you sit at mission selection, to the client it just looks like they're loading forever. When one player takes a few minutes longer than the others, that's a lot of dead time just sitting around looking at an essentially blank screen.
But it's mostly just luck and spamming the join game button on the steam overlay.

Battleye is currently detected as a trojan/virus by lots of antivirus software, your AV is blocking battleye and preventing the game from starting.
Thus disabling it fixes it.

I was moving my A3 install from my HDD to my SSD when my apartment had a power outage. when i turned my pc back on and tried to run A3 it threw a status_access_violation error at me.
I've tried reinstalling the game multiple times, even on drives that weren't the source or destination drives during the incident.
I've tried most of the online fixes for the error that I could find like changing the Memory alloc option and unloading all my mods
I cleaned my registry with CCleaner and I'm basically out of ideas now so I'm hoping someone experienced or on the Dev team could help me out with this

you can reclaim the save games and such (normally) , but dont grab anything else.
To reinstall Battleye, Google "reinstall Battleye"
the savegame data i'm interested in particularly is stored in profile.vars Not worth recovering to be fair

btw, i tried to add battleye folder to my malwarebytes exlusion and it still won't run. oof
well it couldnt be better timing for something like this because just before it was corrupted I sent it to my friend to start using on his Dedicated server for us so lets hope it works

Hello I recently bought Arma 3 and tried playing on a server with a decent amount of people. Setting everything to ultra or low still causes frame dips when entering the combat zones. I have a 1070 with a i7-8700k and 16gbs of ram. Is there anyway to fix this issue?

I don't have an SSD sadly and I used auto detect for the settings but still ended up with the issue.

Arma 3 is closing a alot of my Apps, Nvidia Control Panel, ShadowPlay, Razer Central + Synapse, Asus Aura, Samsung Magician and iCue . It's a Battleye issue, already exposed my issue with them... And its only happening with Arma, for example: not with Squad(Game)

You can't change the default one, to change it you need to add a new profile in Arma

I'm trying to run Roy86's Patrol Ops 4 on a dedicated server hosted in GCP. The workshop file comes in legacy.bat format so pulled down a .7z of all the mission data and I want to pack it into a PBO locally so I don't have to fuck w RSA keys from my terminal to GCP because its a nightmare.

@fringe salmon to import your controls you wanna copy the contents of the "My Documents/Arma 3/profilename.Arma3Profile" file into the new "My Documents/Arma 3 - Other Profiles" file.
And if you want mod settings (CBA) and such, you copy the "profilename1.vars.Arma3Profile" over to the new profiles folder with "newProfilename.vars.Arma3Profile"

@quaint jewel i still am having issues :(. With battleye enabled i crashed out after launching to Play, my steam crashes, as does nvidia software and other software.

Windows 10 insider build is a kind of beta, which is not supported by BE and might cause issues. But that seems to just be normal win10

Hello, I have an issue updating BattleEye, Steam say that I may dont have the permission to update this file. I tried to launch steam as administrator, to reinstall Battleeye, but nothing work. The issue come from BEService.exe, and I can update every others games and even mods for ArmA 3, Battleye is the only things which doesnt want to update. Does anyone have the same issue ?
Did you try manually deleting the BattlEye Folder in Arma directory?

How are you launching Arma?

i launch via steam, then using the official arma launcer that appears
try launching arma3_x64.exe from your arma directory directly
the game launches fine, but when it try join an official arma3 server, i get messege stating BE need to be enabled. When i agree to restart then my steam crashes and on restart i get this messge appearing https://imgur.com/mmHbWa4

do you have a "appid.txt" in your arma directory? with content 107410?
You can try launching "arma3battleye.exe" or the _x64 variant if it exists, in your arma directory. That should start with Battleye and might circumvent that Steam popup

ok the games launches using 'arma3battleye.exe' but the server browser shows zero servers available to connect to. Using the quick play option just leaves me waiting fo search results. seems like i cant find any servers

There won't be another BE update to fix the bitdefender stuff. It is supposed to be fixed already. I guess BE contacted Bitdefender and made them not detect it

@eager lake please go to your Steam/SteamApps folder. (Arma 3 is in steamapps/common/arma3)
In there use windows search to search for "BEService"
It will probably find 2 or 3 or so? Delete them all, then let Arma 3 files be verified in steam
