AppData local has a bunch of JSON files. I don't think the launcher has anything in roaming.
You can whack the entire appData\Local\Arma 3 Launcher folder and it'll rebuild it, but you will lose some data (mod presets, launcher parameters etc).

No, that folder is user data in general so it doesn't get deleted on reinstall. Same as a profile.

Hey, I'm trying to help a friend with an issue. their shift-left click marker is fading regardless of the waypoint difficulty setting. Other players on the same server don't have the fade and the relevant difficulty setting should be being overriden by the server anyhow. any have an idea why this might be?
Are you sure it is your issue or server's? Does it happen on SP?

doesn't fade in singleplayer, server waypoints are set to always using faster and other players on the same server don't have them fade
set the server config option to waypoints always and that resolved it, still not clear why it was happening for one player and not the rest however

Good evening, I purchased this DLC and I can't play with it; it doesn't appear in the game, but everything else seems fine.
That message isn't about the DLC. Since that's a modded server, you probably don't need any DLC at all. That's a thing specifically for that mission and server. You choose your perks including Marksman from a different menu in that starting area.
In which part of the game do I choose to play as a sniper? In which menu?

Guess you need to binarize some models you load
The models are binarized
It's to do with how your model is UV mapped. If you have two UVs from the same face occupying the same UV coordinates they create a zero-point error when calculating the tangent from the normal map info
If you go to \Structure\Check Faces\ it'll highlight the ones that need fixing by creating a selection called from the faces that it can't generate ST coords for

regarding the missing sounds, we've found out that the issue is caused by parameter CPU count being set to 1
so in case some of your users or friends have such problem make sure you don't set to low cpucount value

This was with low player number (9ppl only) + HC. Server on 48fps rock stable.
Okay I have a small but annoying problem:
I had about 50 Loadouts saved in my Arsenal. From one day to the other they are gone.
I also discovered that my stats on King of the Hill had been resetted (I was lvl 14 and then I was level 1)
What could have happened? What can I do? T^T
Your arma profile probably got wiped for some reason. Its somewhere under My Documents/Arma 3
Try using the windows restore function if you have that enabled

@hidden pier There are two files, iirc one is the profile itself (which I assume includes keybinds), and one is stuff stored in profilenamespace (servers saving your progress for example)
And how can it happen, that this just resets. I have not done anything. From one day on the other. This is REALLY frustrating. As I said, about 50 Arsenal Loadouts are gone now!

Profile vars writing seems to be non-transactional. If ARMA crashes or your PC dies during a profile write you seem to end up with a corrupt one that gets blanked next restart.

anyone but me that have encountered the lack of sound from RTD since eden update? if i use RTD, get into a hummingbird, start engine and fly, its dead silent except the ambient soundeffects such as winds and gforce sounds.. but if i then switch back to simple model anz then back again i get sound. though it still doesnt seem to be the correct RTD sounds

I have several mods including RHS, FHQ, HLC, NATO Replacement HQ, and more Unit/Weapon Mods.
My units worked. Now most BluFor Unit Groups cause this message to pop up saying ~~~

The NATO Replacement is a problem.
Ever since 1.56 came out my launcher has been freezing regularly on startup. It just get stuck on loading data, sometimes with the news items displayed, sometimes without any displayed. If I shut it down with Task Manager then about 2/3 of the time it won't start up again, and I have to reboot the computer to get it to run. Anyone else experiencing this?

If I put down a game logic, name it "bomb" and then put this in its init line:

For some reason it runs every time somebody connects on a JIP mission on dedicated server. Is this a glitch or intended behavior?

every client creates the bomb when they start the game or jip
if you add it inside if(isServer)then{doyourthings}; should work as you probably intended

Players on our server are crashing quite a bit and we're getting reports that some of them are experiencing crashes when they play on other servers as well. Is there a well known issue or has anyone else experienced this? Groups of players will crash at the same time.

Have you tried lowering the sample rate for your playback device (can be done in the Sound Manager)? The same happened with me when there were a lot of sounds playing within a short period of time.
44.1KHz is recommended because most games use that and upscaling can cause problems.
Hello, I have a "problem" atm. Whenever I join my server (I'm mission creator and server admin) I am stuck with a View distance of 1600. I have set up a view distance of 10000 in my options. I also use ALiVE and ACE in which I both set up a max view distance of 10000. Why though am I stuck to 1600 @.@ (I know I can change the view distance in ALiVE and it works, but I don't want to do that all the time.)
But I also don'T want to force people to a view distance of 10000, because of performance. I just want that everybody can use the view distance he set up in his options! ^^
yes the server or mission says how much the maximum view/object distance is. client can't go beyond that limit
I guess setting high view distance in the server also affects how far AI can see
So when I set the viewdistance on the server to 10000 and a user joining with a view distance set to 2000...which one will he have then? 10000 or 2000?

Hi, I have little proplem. Yesterday I tried to play Arma 3 (Launching with steam). But when I hit the play button nothing happens. Tried to launch the Arma 3 Launcher as admin from games directory and nothing. Then I tried to launch Arma3.exe. That started and I was able to play Arma3, but wihtout mods and without any parameters. (So had to do "old school" xD). So do you have any idea why my launcher wont start. Would be a lot easier to set up mods and parameters with that.
Firstly I tried to verify Arma3. Did not help. Then I reinstalled. Did not help. Installed to different disk, did not help. Did "fresh" install, did not help.
Then I went trough Arma3 own troubleshoot guide. I did re install newest VCRedist and .NetFramework. That did not help. Also tried to launch Arma3Launcher as admin and with -safemode parameter. Nothing..
Then I went to check Launchers log. There was nothing that could help me.
And last, I'm using win 10. Some say it works for them, and others say that it does not. I guess I'm part of that last part ๐ I'm just wondering why it does that, and is that fixable.

Little problem with files signatures, I explain, I packed all my addons using my private key, putted my public key in server "keys" folder in arma 3 folder, and tried to connect to the server, but it says "wrong signature for file"
I tried repacking and resigning, recreating new key, nothing works....

@viscid moss I've had the same problem. I fixed it by making the image wider. So not a square but 4x1 ratio. 256x64 pixels for example. Only the first quarter being the actual visible image.
There's probably a proper to handle it though, but this worked for me.

I have an issue with Bulldozer and ObjectBuilder : I can't move with mouse anymore when I'm inspecting my model in Bulldozer... Any idea ?
And almost everytime I close Arma 3 tools, steam don't recognize the closing and still thinks it's "open"... Focring me to kill the steam task, just to launch A3tools.
I have the issue with steam not closing tools and requiring killing of Steam in Task Manager. But for me it happens if I run Game Updater to patch the dev Branch during that session, and let it handle Steam Client.

@sleek spire iirc the ships are too big to exist as a single object, so you place a helper object which spawns the various parts of the ship.
@robust copper does that mean that I cannot place them on the map and then turn their facing to 45 degrees?
@sleek spire I think you might be able to turn the helper object and save/reload, the script gets executed again and it should face the right direction. (No guarantee that it will work, gonna test it)

Hello i am having some trouble with my arma 3.
the first 150 hours in arma it was just fine, but now my arma 3 makes my pc restart randomly. I have a gtx 960 that needs 400 watts but my power supply is a corsair Vs550 so that is enoug. it is not overheating i think because my cpu stays around 30-40 and my gpu stays around 70 degrees Celius. i have no virus, plz help m,e

@fringe salmon I had the same problem once. Turned out to be a faulty PSU. Funny thing is that Arma 3 was the only game that triggered it.
yeah if you can borrow a PSU somewhere it could be good to test with that. broken PSU or just getting broken can have those kind of random issues.
@Proekje probably you or them have overclocked the monitor. Also, make sure its power supply doesn't have too much or too little power (even a tiny overdose of power can fry the Wall street computer, not joking). In conclusion, it is likely a hardware issue, so you're better off getting it checked at a 'real', 'professional' specialist. :P
@fringe salmon , sounds like PSU to me, I have seen it before. You could also try re-seating everthing, PCI Cards, Memory , and also disconnecting all power conections from the PSU then reconnecting.

I'm still having issues with OB and buldozer : my mouse controls and hotkey not working, I can scroll middle mouse to animate first animation but can't cycle all my anims. And I can still move around with WASD and num_pad.

I tried reinstalling all the A3 tool, i messed up my P drive twice and after a decent recover , controls in bulldozer are still not working...
You could try deleting the Buldozer profile in Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles, to be safe make a back up of it as well

Question: Anyone else having memory allocation issues with 1.58 and is there a good instruction on modifying difficulty settings (current release seemed to have removed the functionality) I viewed a wiki document that discusses deeper configuration settings which look a tad overkill for what was originally there.
@fringe salmon there is known bug where other allocators are causing performance and stability issues, so use just none == default == Intel TBB 4 from main stable branch (NOT OLDER!)

NVM, it finally worked : all control options (in arma 3 tab "development") have to be assigned, I was just deleting only the red ones.... Can't believe I thought of that only now ๐ฆ
Animated units and objects placed in Eden -> not play animation after preview... and when mission saved it is not play animation anyway.... (i meant Animated Training Target object) in 2D editor it is work correct.

But still having the same issue. is there anything else that I could be doing wrong? and my port is 1772, I added the +4 still no joy tried the -1 still no joy. I have the Battleye/BESserver.cfg edited, also edited my BEC Config.cfg with the RCon Port, no joy. now is there another location that the BEServer.cfg can be? I also opened all ports on the fire wall TCP/UDP. to make sure that it was not the firewall blocking the ports.
How come the End Game spectator system is now forced? No matter what settings I choose in the description.ext or in Eden's multiplayer preferences, I always get the EG spectator system. The mission framework our group uses worked perfectly fine before 1.58, we were put into our spectator as expected with the given settings, but now it forces us into EG spectator.. Is this intentional behaviour? How on earth do I fix this? There's no documentation on this sort of thing, and clearly something has changed...

since the big patch a few days ago. I can only stay in a server for about 20 minutes before my FPS drops to 3 or 4 which makes the game completely unplayable. I have changed the parameters from malloc to system, downloaded and installed the arma3client_performance_158_135712_v2.7z and reset my graphics card's 3d settings to "restore defaults" any help would be greatly appreciated.

But whenever I make a change after loading into the server before I have to completely close my game otherwise I get kicked for modified data file and this RPT error:

I have tried a few things such as running the game, launcher and even the server as admin but nothing. It also doesn't always happen it comes and goes at random from what I can tell.
So Load into game fine -> Make change and restart server -> Downloads mission again -> Get kicked for modified data file.
I have searched online but have only found one BI forum post with the same problem from 2013 but no one replied.

Alright, So i need some Huge help. This Glitch or what ever is plaguing my server.
When i create a mission file, place playable units. Put in a .EXT with like the basics. Then upload it to the server.
There's no units to select and use.
How i can start arma with mods without launcher but with BatlEye? I tryed to -useBE param in shortcut, it not works ๐ฆ

Upon launching ArmA3 with many mods enabled within the ArmA 3 Official Launcher, the following error message appears:

What's weird is that if I enable or disable a few more mods, the game launches just fine.

ive seen that happen with the vanilla hatchback
in both cases eg the helicopter, they are sharing their skeletons with some other model that has changed the arrangement of the bones. Nothing illegal in that, what is illegal is two different models calling thier skeleton the same name, but having different bone connections.
it's a common error amongst modellers to not use tag_names for their skeleton, and thereby almost ensuring that at least two people will call a girraffe a girrafe when one,in fact is an elephant.
remove all your mods, then progessively add them back until you discover who the bad boy is.

the short answer is no, it won't report a change to the skeleton because doing so is 'normal' in updates etc.
but, if as a result, a bone is missing (not re-arranged), then yes, all hell will break loose in (dot)rpt.
you can see that effect any time you use an arma2 rtm, or an arma2 human in arma3. the two games have different skeletons but both are called the same name.

So since the last few updates I've noticed that smoke from smoke grenades causes a disproportional performance hit. I go from 30+ fps to 12 fps with three or four of them.
Today I discovered that vehicle smoke screens don't hit performance the same.
So I can't use my mouse in menus and when I go to change my resolution and hit enter it just goes back to the main menu
Solution is probably "use the higher perf smoke everywhere"

When I hit play on the Launcher, yes.
Do you have a 32 or 64 bit OS? It wouldn't matter for the Arma 3 executable, but maybe you have a 32 bit OS and you are using 64 bit versions of DirectX or C++ package
You could also try going to %localappdata%\Arma 3 in file explorer and seeing if the RPTs have any further information
Also the launcher logs should be here %localappdata%\Arma 3 Launcher\Logs, I've never looked at them so I have no idea what kind of info they contain

For Milky: You're better off stating what the problem is and detailed information about it rather than waiting for a response. If you were emailing a teacher/professor and wanted to ask a question about your homework would you first email them saying you have a question about the homework, wait for them to respond with "what's the question?", and then ask the specific question? It's better to get straight to the point with as much useful information as you can. Who knows how many people know the answer to your issue but aren't going to ask you for details.
With that being said, what do you mean by "I'm having trouble getting Arma 3 to work"? Do you launch the game from steam and nothing happens? Do you press play on the Arma 3 Launcher and nothing happens? Is the campaign not working? Is multiplayer not working? There are so many things that you could categorize as "not working", so you need to give more information.

Steam deleted all the Workshop mods from my ArmA 3 directory when it downloaded the updates for a couple mods from the Workshop. How can I fix this? They're located in the workshop folder, but I really don't want to use the ArmA 3 Launcher provided by BIS.

Mods being with their ID numbered folders is intended. Don't touch them. Otherwise steam will redownload them and the launcher will be confused.
This is intended behaviour in 1.60, it doesn't make copies to Arma 3 folder, therefore it doesn't take double the disk space. Read the changelog for 1.60
I'm having a problem. I'm trying to load a mission file in the editor and it's saying that there are some addons that it's dependent on, but they look like BIS class names. stuff like "A3_F_Soft_Car". Anyone have any ideas?
when installing mods from workshop, it makes 2 copies of the same mod, its a pain and wastes 100's GB of hard drive space, was this fixed in 1.60 ?

I personally copied a couple mods over that I run a lot. However, I think CUP did something they said they never would. They removed the backwards compatability with A3MP and AIATP

Steam workshop downloads aren't trustworthy sometimes sadly
right someone here yesterday said that downloading mods from workshop no longer installs 2 copies , i mean put mod into arma folder and also keeps mod in steam workshop folder, but it does, so is this a bug still ? thx
@radiant hill Since 1.60 update the copies from Arma 3 folder are deleted and Launcher loads mods directly from Workshop cache. But some 'legacy' mods have to be copied anyway, because Steam downloads them as a file with .BIN extension and we have to create a proper mod structure and rename it to PBO so the game could load it.
Thx, yes was my bad i think, the mods that i seen left in the arma 3 folder, were actually downloaded by me, so i guess for them to work they have to stay in the arma 3 folder, correct ?

i run my dedicated server from my arma 3 install folder
since 1.6 i cant seem to get any mods to run.

@commy2 debug console moved to 'call' from bis_fnc_call awhile ago. call is pretty dirty command to whitelist though, opens the door for anything. would suggest using alternative remote execution for MP

Have you checked your RPT? The way your game freezes when you hit local exec makes me guess it was writing to it

@abstract merlin you have remoteExec protections on, you can't execute anything that isn't whitelisted by using the local, global, and server exec buttons
only the watch field should be able to execute local stuff.

It does though, the number displayed in the watch section shows 3 because he defined it as 3 before the video, but in theory it should change to 4 when he uses local, global, or server exec. It only changes to 4 when he uses the clock, which is used for determining the average run time of a script, and uses a different command to execute what is in the debug console

odd, im messing with the function now and trying some things / ideas, i got a feeling the function is coded incorectly because i looked uo the remoteexec function paramaters. Up to: _this remoteExec ["call", [player, clientOwner] I understand, but "select isNull player" is confusing me as this returns nothing. I also believe there is ment to be a comma after the target paramaters and the select isnul player should just be isnul player

Hey fellows, i have some issues if anyone wants to help me, I am running a server but i cannot get Task force arrowhead radio to work on it (Server side) I seem to also be forced into 1st Person when i run a custom difficulty where 3rd person should be enabled and finally i cannot enter Zeus, despite it working fine when i test it from the editor and then go multiplayer

Use A3 tools and the game updater...its the only workaround for now until they patch the error on steam
I don't think that's how it works. Everyone will get the 1.3 GB update when switching to dev branch, but you won't be able to access the full 6 GB download until steam acknowledges it

I transfered my map over, now all my playable units are AI and when i die the mission ends etc.

Months ago when I copy pasted from one map to another it didn't save every unit as playable

@full dune, if you're editing in Eden, it has begun to ignore certain parts of the description.ext, you have to disableAI in the Edend multiplayer settings in editor.

Easier to discover than to describe. Click all of the menus in the top left, one of them is like settings, and it has a button labelled multiplayer. Play with the settings in there and you'll find a buncha crap to tweak. I really preferred the description.ext taking precedence.

Hey all. Can't play on Tanoa on the latest dev-branch. I have updated the game using the game updater and when I go to the editor it prompts me to to purchase the map.

I moved my dev branch install to the main folder, switched to dev in steam, paused it before it started downloading the whole thing, verified integrity and it's just making me redownload a gig or two
So I guess your best option is to have Tanoa (dev branch) on your steam client, and then game updater with stable

Anyone here encountered soundbugs in multiplayer after 1.60 update? To be specific none of us can hear enemy weapons and sonic cracks...only the bullets landing. And it seems to be kind of random. Tested with mod weapons and vanilla weapons as well. Any ideas? Could it be outdated CBA or something?
