My game is crashing when using this. Anyone else have similar issues?

Having a player on 2.20.152939 (stable) crash with a DX11 out of memory error with just rpt output and no MDMP. Anything I can do to get more debug info for an issue? Rpt exert below and full available on request (some weird available sizes).

It's just under the mod table.
Other questions would be how long they were playing for, and whether it's repeatable or a one-off.
That's an awful lot of general memory usage though.

Ok so ive been comepltly scammed i thought this game had some sort of playerbase mods dont work in campeign not sure why i just bought it but evry server is 0/0 and if i try to play the one thats 30/50 it dosnt let me join with mods

That's sad that people buy something without reading the description, reviews, etc, and then cry that they were scammed.
you have not been scammed, you just thought it works pretty much the opposite than it does work
- campaigns/missions are usually not designed to be played with mods.
- joining an MP server expects you to have same mods as the server runs. how else would the mods work? like if you have mod with megablasterAK9000 and the server and other players dont have that, it cant work together can it.
- Arma3 playerbase is spread around in different game modes and not all the thousands of servers have people all the time. There are multiple ways to play MP in public servers on public casual gamemodes or in more organized way by joining units/gaming groups in their scheduled operations.
- This is not 24/7 live help chat. People answer if they know and when they can. Dont be a dick about it.

That is the thing that is failing the texture creations.
Though the game using almost 8gb of memory is also worrying
i always wonder how big can you set the page file, and how it affects performance
Don't set it bigger than the remaining space on your harddrive/SSD.

So i found a potential bug for the A3 launcher where in rare cases (usually post-update), launching the ARMA 3 launcher while using Retrobar (a software modifying the taskbar to looks like an older windows' taskbar) crashes the launcher immediately, and only disabling retrobar would allow launching. However, enabling retrobar post-launch gives no error and subsequent launches will no longer give an error after that. OS is Windows 11. And attached is the desktop crash log of the launcher.

We told BattlEye to fix it, and they did. They didn't implement a feature on Proton
The problems started after formatting the disk, I cleared the files on my system, after that battleye just stopped running, but somehow it worked with the vpn, later the problems started again, and I just changed the battleye Arma to battleye Unturned, the game started, but stopped logging into the servers (the problem is in the picture), I reinstalled the anti-cheat and game, but the problem remains

Hello! Can anyone help me fix my mods conflict in Arma 3. I have a Mod Pack of around 243 Mods. The Problem is that when I load it the RHS waypoints are breaking. The Tochka U will not fire after deploying because a black smoke starts coming from the back of it while it is in the process of deploying and then it never actually fires. I have tested without the other mods but with RHS, 3cb, all POOK mods and AI mods that I run loaded and it works fine so I don't even know what else would break it? There is also some weird flickering in the background but it fixes after I turn off the automatic viewdistance mod. If someone can help me It would be great, thank you!

i would suggest to try use #perf_prof_branch profiling branch
Z-fighting is unavoidable, some models just have it, and it's more noticeable at long view distance. Increasing model quality can help
I looked at your modlist, down to mods starting with F, didn't see anything immediate, other than it's a huge modlist
If you tested it with the core mods that you want, and it worked, then the next step is to do a binary test until you find the mod that mucks up the RHS vehicles
The black smoke makes me think that something is mucking up the vehicle to the point where it breaks the engine when you try to deploy.
I haven't used many of the mods on your list, binary search is probably the best method (disable half and test, no issues -> mod is in other half, repeat until you've found the broken mod)

Thank you for your time, if you have a few more minutes can you see if something Below the mods starting with F could cause it? There is a V2 flying bomb mod and etc. However I am testing with 100 mods loaded now and will see if it works.

Every "House" needs to have a config class named, in this example
Land_scf_01_condenser_f in CfgVehicles.
Though that vanilla class throwing that is very weird. Because the class is there
Ah you're getting it when packing the terrain.
That means the config that binarize uses when packing, is probably outdated and doesn't contain that land class
#arma3_terrain people would know better.
I'd think you need to update the configb binarize uses (tbh we should be doing that, but we.. didn't)

Terrain objects need to be made right to work on terrain properly.
For A3 stuff you should not need to do anything.
Don't go declaring them. That's not at all normal workflow. And likely ends up breaking things
Can these specific instructions be found anywhere? Again, happens with native a3 objects so more curious whats causing it

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out regarding a persistent VOIP issue in Arma 3 that I’ve exhausted all known fixes for and that i encountered a few years back and now.
Summary:
My mic works in all other apps (Discord, Steam test, etc.), but in Arma 3, voice does not transmit.
The VOIP icon appears when I press PTT (Caps Lock), but others cannot hear me.
voip_win64.dll is completely missing from the install (Arma 3\Dll\x64), even after multiple clean reinstalls.
.rpt logs show no mention of VOIP or DirectPlay initialization.
Tried so far:
Verified Steam files (multiple times, including after deleting the Dll folder).
Switched from profiling branch to stable (and back).
Fully uninstalled Arma 3, including:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3
Documents\Arma 3 + Arma 3 - Other Profiles
%localappdata%\Arma 3
Reinstalled on stable branch with zero mods and clean profile.
Set correct mic input/output in Windows and disabled all others.
Steam mic test works perfectly.
Manually ran arma3_x64.exe as admin.
Attempted to extract the missing voip_win64.dll from SteamCMD:
Logged in via steamcmd
Ran:
login <username>
app_update 107410 validate
Install completed successfully, but Dll\x64\voip_win64.dll is still not included in the extracted files.
Also confirmed DirectPlay is enabled via Windows Features.
Mic exclusive mode is disabled in Windows.
Debug Test Results:
Ran this debug command in-game:
hint str (player getVariable ["BIS_fnc_feedback_voice", "no data"]);
Always returns "no data", even on LAN tests or public servers.
No .rpt logs mention VOIP initialization, DirectPlay, or any mic errors.
I'd really appreciate any help or insight into this. Is this a known issue? Is there a new requirement or Steam depot change that excludes voip_win64.dll?

if i fly blackfoot as gunner and take controls i still cant fire counter measures... this lets me use the weapons and optics better but if I lose counter measures and cant switch to pilot when its useless? why is it like this
I think no one can hear me when I talk in ARMA 3. Is this a known issue?

It's a two-seat aircraft.
You can try a few different approaches. One is using team switch you can switch between the pilot and the Gunner.
Another is using a mod that allows you to use countermeasures from the gunner seat.
Or a different mod that lets you control the gunner better from the pilot seat.
It could be that you switched to a different channel by accident. use the comma and period keys to select the channel the others are on (like side or global).
Or you are not pressing the Capslock key for push-to-talk.
So I have an issue with Arma online services for one I can't log into my Bitly acc and the mods I download always give me errors while the other person with the same mods can run it without issues

Is there a mod that generally increase weapon accuracy? I feel that most ARs or even DMRs are very inaccurate. With ACE editor its like 2-4.5moa which is a lot.

Well, that is not going to happen with Arma 3. As there are no console users for that. You are probably looking for help in the wrong channel.
But Bitly is a URL shortening service. I see no way how that account you might have with them could help with playing Reforger or downloading mods.
I think there's a specific ACE mod for that, but bear in mind that it's not balanced for AIs.
If you reduce the dispersion of a weapon (well, fire mode) then it directly increases AI accuracy with that weapon.
Can be compensated with other config parameters but apparently no gear modder knows or cares about that.

alright so im having some trouble with this but 2 weeks ago noticed that on my server people were dying in 1 or 2 shots (not how it was setup before) and outright dying and not going uncon. I have played around with some of the ACE medical settings but not sure what could be causing this. We do use KAT as well but only airways are enabled at this time
Before it would take about 2-5 times the amount of damage to knock them uncon. does anyone have any ideas?
any other med mods? maybe ones affecting AI?
KAT is the only other medical mod and I am currently on my server testing it with others and player to player is dropping us in 1-2 shots which is the same for what happens with AI shooting us

there is like 88 total mods but nothing that would change medical stuff. around that time all that was changed in the mod list was removing some maps and adding different ones
Even though I have no experience with these medical thingy, "I have 88 but nothing would conflict" literally does nothing to do with the issue. Just because it is a speculation and not the fact, removing all (optional) Mods is still one of the early goto to find the issue
I would agree if something changed modpack wise that would change medical settings or something like that but this is a problem that came up like I said 2-3 weeks ago and mod pack changes were prior to that and everything was fine. I assume there is something going on with ace and kat not liking each other rn for some reason
Everything was fine does also nothing to do with it, any Mod can change anything anytime. You got the issue right now is the only fact you can consider
hello guys, i am having problem with dynamic recon ops for ace, lately, i am being always immortal, and i am the only one, all my friends we have the same mods and they are fine, on the beginning of the mission, i am immortal, i don't get damage from anything but grenades and objects, u thought it was bc all my loadouts were made on virtual arsenal, but even without changing loadout it happens, to fix this i need to respawn when the mission starts and i dont become immortal anymore, until we start another mission again, anyone have a hint of what this is?

the file is arma3_x64.exe and i can open it if I manually find it in the files and open it. it is issued when I launch it in the launcher. the launcher itself opens
You may need to temporarily start Steam as Admin to let it do some update tasks. But I recommend to not play anything as admin, or click on discussion links in the app. Just allow it to update/start the game . Then close the game and Steam, restart as normal.
Ok, on the second screenshot, after you started a multiplayer server ingame through:multiplayer menu\server browser\host a new game\server details page set to internet
(might need to continue to choose a terrain and builtin scenario first.)
Do refresh and see if the UPnP Client list is updated with an entry.
I started steam as admin, but nothing helped. I also reinstalled the game many times, deleted the file, and ran an integrity check.
I need some help on this.
Me and a group of my friends hosted a Mike Force server (Wasn't hosted by me), When I try joining said Mike Force server I get the error** "Connecting Failed"**.
Troubleshooting that I did:
-The IP is correct
-The port is correct
-Mod pack is correct
-Internet is good (Ran the IP through CMD with the command "Ping" and it gave me 4 pings 0% losses so I can connect)
-No one else on the server is having this problem
-Changed DNS
-Re-installed mod's and game

What kind of reply does it give? That basically tells you if Steam knows about the server and can talk to it.

Having the right mods loaded is not a requirement for trying to connect and get a response. Only to succesfully get in that scenario world.

See if your network adapter in Windows is set to a public profile? Should work (better at all) if it is in a private mode.

I only know for sure for Windows 10. Don't know how it looks in Windows 11. Windows Settins (gear icon)\Network & Internet\page should show your internet connected devices, click the properties button\next page should show two radio buttons Public or Private selected.

Try an ethernet cable, wifi is perhaps too unstable.
That should make it work. Al that is left to do is the Windows or 3rd party firewall to allow public access to Arma 3 game executable.

If during installing again and starting it, Windows asks if Arma 3 is allowed to access the internet, allow it for the private network. Public is only needed if you want to host. (Like Julius)

Widen the collumn for the executable path. It shows multiple Arma 3's. But it could be the launcher executable too.
If it's that specific combination (ACE + dyn recon ops) then it's probably a bug in recon ops. You should test the two mods separately though.

it's server message (from MOTD) and you definitely don't get it on every server you join ... just ignore it

i get it on modded and unmodded servers, official servers (checked with most the zeus, warlords, combat patrols and escape), locally hosted non-dedicated server, fresh dedicated server thta my friend had made. and no one can hear me on any one of those servers.
in the microphone settings and privacy arma does not appear nor does the little microphone in the notification tab describing what programs are using my mic - only when im on teams, discord and other steam games but not arma
pretty sure you don't such see message on local server nor official servers (that's long gone)
on official servers you need to know that many servers have disabled global channel for VON ...
ive just joined an escape and zeus officeial server just now both time the message has displayed
i know though for example on the zeus servers global is enabled and all players can talk on it unless scripts are involved but i cant transmit on any channel
which server, that makes no sense. ip, port
it's disabled on pvp servers because of abuse vs the other team
ideal case i would disable it on side too so people need talk in squad/vehicle/direct only 😁
That is a good way to corrupt your profile. And it will crash again when you start the game. See if you have any unintelligable text in your Documents\Arma 3\username.arma3profile

Look into your profile file like I named it. See if there is any strange line. Or upload the file here so others can check it.

Can you use ping/traceroute to reach any servers?

Turn off -noLogs so the RPT actually shows errors. There really shouldn't be an option for not logging because it has like no benefits.

i didnt see it happen with jsrs 2, but i had crashes even without jsrs ( not sure if from the same .dll), i dont know which rpt to check, and warlords doesnt allow for jsrs 2
XAudio crashes are usually an audio device doing something weird, like a USB device disconnecting or changing bit rate mid-game.
friends and i are all using a version of jsrs 1 with some different sounds. When we play on my port forwarded server, they all can hear my gunshots fine and i can hear my own but i cannot hear theirs, any ideas?
The general problem with localhost servers is that it's hard to prove that everyone's running the same mods.

With waypoints ussualy less is better. Since ai will calculate path between two waypoints, and that takes time.
Unless you need them to follow some very convoluted path. Place just keypoints, as in where you want them to defo be.
I figured that out and did it, but sometimes I need to tell AI how to avoid crashing into a fence/tree and that slow down feels annoying.
Just put the cursor in the bottom right where it goes into the screen I think.

Unload half and then if it persists remove another half until the crash goes away. Then, do the same until you find the specific mod.
I highly recommend having <50 mods loaded at a time because the amount of issues exponentially increases and you end up not even noticing the difference or being able to remember what the mods are.

Start dividing that number then. Test 100 of them, if that wasn't it do the other 100. Then halve the set what did have the problem. And again and again until 1 mod is left. 200, 100,50, 25, 12, 6, 3, 2, 1. With about 10 tries you should have the culprit identified.

Show a screenshot how it is set now. As it also depends on how many and what sort of disks you have available. I would say it should work fine on automatically. I have 16GB on board, not had a problem running out of memory myself. (This heat though, is another thing for my laptop)

When you click on a tab in ACE arsenal, it loads ALL the assets models from your disk, in order to find out which DLC they are from, so it can display the logo of it.
For some reason, that reading is so extremely slow that the game thinks its frozen.

so far have tried
- recreating and reuploading squad.xml to my webhost (figured maybe some inbuilt cpanel editor issue or something was corrupting it?)
- used known-working .paa from other's squads as a sanity check
- recreating my .paa following the BI community forums
- recreating squad.xsl, squad.dtd, and squad.css
- (unrelated) but i have reinstalled my OS lately (win11 latest), however this has occurred both before and after
- downgraded URL to HTTP, no difference to SSL

I had it working - briefly - without any image. I changed the squad nick from "dogy" to "dog" and it stopped working entirely. Changing it back has had no effect in restoring functionality. are you trying after a game restart? otherwise the game most likely has cached the xml file. try clearing your appdata cache too

ok so VOIP works in 32 bit though the second i get into an AO my frames immediately dip to 2-5fps and i crash within seconds
i relaunched in 64 again and though i can play perfectly fine the voip issue is back

You should probably free up some disk space for a start.

Yeah, you might have the space on that HDD. But you really want the paging file on SSD for it´s speed.
Consider replacing the HDD with a larger SSD. But backup it´s content first.

Anywho, I've been clearing the cache (appdata/local/arma3) and doing full reboots of the launcher - no dice
I figured maybe it was an issue with DNS resolution, since my home DNS servers can sometimes be funny like that (idk why? it's weird. DNS is weird. Its always DNS, but maybe not in this instance) so I forced 9.9.9.9 and 8.8.8.8 as the nameservers for my pc, no dice either
I've also disabled all mods, no effect
I also tried recreating the player profiles, didn't work either
I need to go run and do some end of week errands, but once Im done I might boot up wireshark and see if I can determine if the arma 3 server is actually making calls to my domain. I get the sneaking suspicion this might be network related? also fwiw I'm hosting local servers (multiplayer -> host with UPnP), so idk if that's having any impact - though my understanding is it shouldn't. I don't think UPnP being on or off should affect it either, given I've got a firewall built in the last 20 years so it's stateful, but it could be an arma3 thing that I'm getting completely wrong
I also updated my squad.xml to strip out any potential special characters that might've caused an issue, and replaced all strings with shortened testing strings (I was guessing it could've been some form of language filter?)

tried my old squads squad.xml, it worked - lifting and shifting the files from their site to mine however, doesn't.
Does bohemia blacklist or rate limit domain names or something?

Arma 3 by default has a much higher limit that doesn't need user configuring

It's a thing that web crawlers check voluntarily. Arma is not a crawler and doesn't check it
403 is a server side error. It's a problem with your web server config.
Maybe it refuses the custom User Agent?

refusing the custom user agent is the conclusion I came to too, hence why i tried robots.txt.
I'm well aware that a 403 is serverside, but that doesn't quite explain the fact that it worked intermittently. Must be some form of rate limiting or something
the fact that it did work intermittently is my major sticking point, especially given that the same endpoint of my workstation can curl the file fine - the only other thing I can even imagine it to be is that my webhost disabled TLS 1.1 support on me? but that seems a lil far fetched, especially for the lack of comms about that...

Not long time ago I bought DLC "Contact", after I tried to open game, it gives me fault for more time, even after I delete and install game from Steam...
I almost have all DLC's, and the Contact was my last buy
After I resolve a problem after watching video, where was telling about change BattleEye folder to another from game named Unturned. So I did it, the game was successfully open, campaign, everything opened nicely, but when I enter on any other server the game shows me only background, I attach screenshot with the problem:
P.S. After buying Contact, music in menu changes as a background picture, I've never had that one
Copying BE from Unturned is definitely the wrong solution.
You can try deleting the BattlEye folder in your game files and in %localappdata%/Arma 3
then verify your game files in steam and try again

Your router blocks internet traffic by default. YOu need to hope it listens to the UPnP instructions the game sends it (it may be set to ignore such, disabled because it can be a security issue) or you need to manually set port forwarding in your router settings. (UDP protocol portrange 2302-2306 to your server computer LAN address). Never do both at the same time, it conflicts.

it's my own mission that I've been working on, it's just that every time I save, the filesize doubles itself
I thought it was to do with the rain in editor, so I tried turning them off but it still doubled in filesize.. until well yeah
I started a fresh mission on the same map, tweaked the rain values, doesn't seem to double in filesize everytime I save (for the new mission folder)
it's just that one in particular for now
if I can't fix the problem I'm gonna see if the "Merge" feature works, old mission into the new one
or saving everything as a composition (pain) and then putting it into a new mission folder
even if I make zero changes to the mission it doubles itself in filesize upon saving
Alright, yeah, makes sense. Just that a player on our new server had some audio issues with JSRS and this usually solved it in Arma 2 with this setting. Glad to hear that the default sources amount is higher on Arma 3 and thus maybe not needed to be configured at all. I think that he fixed it later with some windows setting related to surround sound or something, so it was a system configuration issue 🤔
By the way, great job with the performance improvements! One of the reasons we decided to give A3 another shot for our very demanding game mode.

The launcher config file that usually gets corrupted is arma3launcher.exe.config in the Arma folder, but I think that's a different message.
There's also stuff in AppData\Local\Arma 3 Launcher but that mostly looks like static data.

I have a problem trying to create a Dedicated Server, when i don't add the Zeus feature on the mission, it starts well, but when i add one, it pops out a little error that starts with No Entry, how can i make to the server ignores this message and starts the mission? Since we host normally withour Arma3 Server and it starts well every mission

Last night I was on my friends server (modded) and I only had around 20 guns and like the bare minimum of what he had, I also bought apex thinking it would fix it but it still is not showing me the hundreds of guns. It may be a mod issue but just let me know of any ideas on how to fix it. Feal free to ask questions and I will try to answer it

For this, I'd guess scripts causing a limited arsenal, either from a mission or a mod (Unlikely, but possible)

Mod mismatch
Check in the Virtual Arsenal with the same mods loaded as when you were playing on your friend's server.
Check both the vanilla and the ACE arsenal if you are using ACE
If you don't see enough guns, it's most likely a mod issue
Buying Apex should have absolutely no impact on the stuff seen in arsenal, since you see the apex content whether you own Apex or not

No mod is breaking at all, again these mods all work together perfectly with antistasi added. It's just my mission file

Arma generates a .rpt log file each time it's run, which contains a lot of information like the loaded mods, or any errors that appear, this log file can be very useful for troubleshooting problems.
To get to your RPT files press Windows+R and enter %localappdata%/Arma 3

I saved a crash report if that might help. It didnt crash this time cause I disabled all the mods. I can enable them again and get the game to crash and upload the new one.

You still haven't uploaded your entire RPT log file. Also, that background of Stratis showing doesn't mean a thing iirc. The role selection screen says it is that modded terrain. However, that video ends just at the moment you press the button to start with the chosen role. It doesn't show what is wrong with it.

so first thing to test is turn off all mods
then test.
if that works, then add mods in small batches to see where it breaks
and if it does not work come back with server and local rpt
you most definitely have bad made mods in there since you got over ten thousand lines of config errors

getting crashes on warlords redux only when turning on thermals on vehicles (fine anywhere else), there seems to be nothing in the .rpt about it and id appreciate if someone could take a 2nd look,
for the 21-40-14.rpt file the crash was at 22:28, which isnt even listed in the log

You cannot uninstall a DLC. You can uninstall a CDLC on the other hand

I am experiencing game crashes while using thermal mode on the laser designator and Nightstalker scope at the same time. I am getting error 0xC0000005 - status_access_violation and a friend is getting error 0xC0000374 - status_heap_corruption.

That means the mod you installed needs another. Whatever contains the sp_fwa_sig510. Clearly it isn't the second mod that has it.

No, load order isn't really a thing in Arma 3. Mods declare what they are dependant on, and the game loads that first.
Fair enough, if you load the FWA and it's dependancy isolated and that works, but not any longer when you load the NiArms mod then you know which one is the culprit. You will have to ask it's creator why it breaks the other.

Its not happening in single player no mods. But yesterday when I tried in single player with mods I couldn't recreate the issue. It's happening when playing Antistasi.

Make sure you're hitting OK and not escape. Also, PIP shouldn't affect you FPS during most gameplay.

The billion other settings, like shadows. Shadows should be set lower and shorter if you want better FPS.

Try setting the PIP Quality pull down to less than "very high". Then reduce PIP visual distance. As I do remember the PIP settings to have negative performance effects. I don't know if this old experience advise still holds up in 2.20 with the new multithreading enhancements. But 13km for the PIP range does seem absurd. I don't know why that keeps getting stuck.

I do believe servers can force such rendering distances, but not on the low side afaik. Local settings should be able to be set lower than maximum. Strange.

What should I do if, when logging into ANY server, after the map loading screen, I get a background from the main menu and a chat in the corner, and nothing more. Assuming you don't have the -noLogs parameter enabled, post the RPT log file of the session you experienced that in. (should have time and date in the file name) You seem to have strange mods applied, or your game install is corrupted. Which a Steam verification should fix but maybe something else is going on. The log should give hints if things are not working correctly.
I just hope it doesn't write everything in cyrilic.

The server might require Battleye being active. I did manage to pick a slot and join the 420 delta. So it is not the server having an issue.

The symptom is generally caused by BattlEye not talking to the server.

Happens to me every once in a while too where you join a server and it doesnt let you click a player slot, but after about a minute it will suddenly put you into the slot after a delay
@bronze river Turns out your solution was incorrect. It only makes sure there is an offline copy even if onedrive goes offline. What you need to do is go to onedrive settings, then account and then choose folders. There you can uncheck the arma reforger folder.

It doesn't work for reforger stuff as it downloads mods into the documents folder. Which is not what you want to do with a basic onedrive account (only 5 GB)

you can tell onedrive to keep the documents folder local always, it'll respect that, or you could just disable the backup documents, the way you did introduces overhead in the app imo
