if your gpu doesnt have a lot of vram that could happen, if you do happen to have plenty of vram then its more likely shadows, lights, pip-quality or some post-process stuff making that happen,.

When you jump into the editor and play, every map has terrain, buildings, trees etc

but no people, cars, enemies etc, so you need to play a scenario to have anything to do

lots of people think it's like GTA, where you open the game up and there are lots of people already there and things to do

it's less like minecraft, and more like a game engine, where you can play missions people hav ecreated

So you can find servers which are running open world scenarios, with money etc, but there are also military realism (ish :D ) servers, i.e. you're completing an objective as soldiers

#

and when i say military realism, in arma that's anything from having orders and not shooting your teammates to, in some cases (and this is very rare and imo ridiculous) literally filling out paperwork

#

for example, in the unit i was in there was a weekly operation which you'd join, be assigned a squad and squad leader and then under their orders do tasks like clear out towns

you have casual non military/fighting roleplay servers like Altis Life

#

then you have military but unorganised modes like King of the Hill (think battlefield)

#

then you have public but organised modes like Invade and Annex, where anyone can join but you're split into squads and given proper objectives

then you have private units, where you have to ask to join (to avoid people who are trolling) and there's more command structure

there are also a whole bunch of official vanilla servers you can find in the official servers tab in the launcher and in-game browser, good if you wanna dip your feet into mp without the confusion of mods while you get used to things.

in arma you can even play with people who have DLCs you dont have

As Chortles said base game will be good for propably like 95% or so of mods and missions, a good dlc to get would likely be Arma 3 Apex though since it adds a new map called Tanoa on which you cant play if you dont have the dlc

With the smaller dlc's like jets or tanks it really recommend what you want to play in my opinion though, if you wanna fly jets the jets dlc is gonna be neat to have for you, same with the helicopters or tanks or marksmen or any other dlc

By mentioning the stolen content, it is almost like lending them an aire of legitimacy which they do not deserve and it detracts from the hard work of the honest content creators.

the units system is just a more standard form of the previous squad.xml. You don't need it unless your unit you are joining wishes you to do so.

We went a little hard out at the start and our NATO Aggr is nearing 100... I'm trying to just grind logi missions to get some more HR but no matter how long I wait 8 hours or disconnect and reconnect the commander keeps saying "I already gave you a mission of this type"

Found some posts saying that you should just have to wait 8 hours and do it again.. If I restart the server I can do it again but that's a bit of a pain in the ass.

normally what i do is i do one type of mission (logi) then do something like an assassination and i haven't run into that problem since though idk if thats the best for what you seem to want to do
