#Farm workers don't follow orders or requests.

Just checking - are the foods that you have needed in town? They won't harvest if they're not needed by shops!
I obviously don't understand the production mechanics. I've learned by trial and error to create a dedicated storage for every item produced by getting the import/export running as soon as possible and importing boatloads of storage. When there's a dedicated storage for each item I have no issues at all with zone workers or delivery runners. Even when I have, for example, a massive ground pile of everything grown on the farm that isn't a potato, the farmer keeps the potato bin full and the deliveries are made. Am I working around a problem, or is this how the game is supposed to work?
You shouldn't have to have locked storage for each item! I have a big mix in my town and things still run smoothly (ie couriers take items that are needed in town & deliver them, workers restock). Do you have enough storage for the things that are producing, are there paths to the storage bins, are the storage bins within the zone? If they are, then it's a bug - workers shouldn't be piling up items on the ground (and you can submit F8/Feedback and we can take a look)
(also if you're in Preview, it could be something with that build vs Main)
I am the one piling things on the ground: when Fish and Chips need potatoes I build a bin dedicated to potatoes. The farmer picks potatoes from the pile to fill the bin until they need to harvest more potatoes to keep it full, the delivery person pulls from the bin. I don't NEED to make the pile, it just gives me a head start on the rush when a new shop needs a thing.
Ok - I'm going to make us a separate channel for this since it feels like a different problem than PICLET is running into https://discord.com/channels/1053884886475358288/1314310996587843666
@dusty dagger thx you so much. Now I have checked all the farm produce baskets are in the first zone and I have also checked which produce the shop wants. The conclusion is that the shop wants many fruits such as carrots. The farm doesn't want to make them but just waters them. Actually, but every time I played a few days ago, I never had a problem. I just started having problems now.
Thank you for all the comments. I know a lot.
So they're not harvesting them? Could you upload your save in here (or hit F8 in-game) and we can take a look?
@dusty dagger As a feedback to you, I filmed a clip of people on the farm watering the plants alone while the shops wanted a lot of fruits such as honey, tomatoes, but they didn't pick them up and put them in the baskets. The ones in the baskets that had a lot of stuff, I picked them all myself.( I think the bug might be caused by the water hose because I tried to remove the hose and the workers were able to harvest normally but still could not harvest all the crops as needed.)
Hello!
so, Watering crops is one of the highest priority activies a farm worker can have.
Its likely that the watering is taking priority because there are a lot of crops to water, and only one worker with one hose ?
Have you tried adding a second worker?
@final basin It will probably be another 2 levels before I can add more workers.🤧🥲
@final basin It's okay, I'll just wait until then when I can add more workers if it gets better or if there are any problems, I'll try posting a question. Thank you very much.
Ah darn.
I assume you're somewhere near tier 3 ? If that's the case, you have the option to place a second farm after buying if you purchase the 'Dairy Farm' package from the tech tree.
You could then move half of your farm to the new zone, and hire a new worker to work in that farm. That would help a little bit.
@final basin OkayThank you for your advice. I will try it.
From our end, there are some things we want to investigate:
- Workers can water faster, this should help a lot
- Give the player the ability to set priorities, or schedule for tasks. ie, worker A will water in the morning, and harvest in the afternoon.
@final basin Sorry, I would like to ask an unrelated question. I would like to know how to specify that the cart panel is for only that type of product.
Do you mean the market stall ?
this thing ?
At the moment, we don't have the functionality to specify which items go in it, so unfortunately this means couriers cant deliver automatically. However it is on our todo list (likewise, adding similar support to the vending machine).
@final basin I would like to take someone else's picture. If it is against the rules, I can delete it.
Ok, so you want to know how to lock storage to a particular item ?
If you walk up to it, and press the button for 'Inventory' , you can select an item on the right panel and press the button that says 'lock'. That will lock the storage for that item only. You can lock up to 4 items per storage. The item must be in the storage first.
@final basin thank u so much
You're welcome!
@final basin Hello, I have tried to create another worker, but it doesn't work. The new worker doesn't collect the fruits that the store needs.
Hello, when I had a big problem, even though I increased the number of workers to two as everyone suggested, it still couldn't do what we wanted and what the store wanted. I also tried moving the planting area to several farm zones, but they wouldn't pick it up. It's really hard for me to have to pick it up myself. It's been like this for 2 days now.🤧🥲I really like playing this game.
hey @knotty fulcrum - so what aren't they doing? the workers aren't harvesting? Are they still only watering? Have you tried only having crops that you need in the shops? You often don't need more than 2 of a crop to supply shops - I only have three of things like pineapple (I don't have any shop duplicates fwiw, that might change for people in endgame)
When you split up the farms, what did the layouts look like? Feel free to send a screenshot or better yet, your save with the instructions above
@dusty dagger I have already removed some unused fruits, but it did not do any good. Most of the workers watered the plants, while others cut the grass or just walked around.
Hmm - can you upload your save file here OR hit the "feedback" button in the main menu & put your username there? That'll let us look at your save so we can see what's happening
@dusty dagger Do you mean the username in Discord or elsewhere?
There's a field on the feedback form for a discord username -- putting your name in there helps me track down the saves
@final basin @dusty dagger Let me just type my discord username into the feedback channel. Did I get that right?
So when you press F8 in the game, it will pop up a form - just fill that out and put your username in it 🙂
Is this what you want? Did I do it correctly? I put my username here: piclet_th@dusty dagger @final basin
@dusty dagger Or should I add it to feedback?
That's perfect, thanks!
Thanks! I'll take a look sometime today
Ok! I took a look. It's pretty much what I expected!
By default, workers will only harvest items that the town actively needs. If the town doesn't need an item, your workers wont collect it.
This is why your workers appear to be ignoring the crops.
If you want workers to harvest more, you need to lock the item in storage. To do that, place the item you want to lock in a storage bin, open the inventory for that storage, highlight the item, and select 'LOCK' for any items you want to lock.
Your workers, after completing all priority tasks, will then attempt to fill that storage box with the appropriate items.
