I'd rather play online than remote play. I don't want to share the screen with my friends.

Same, I had a friend join me to test out this demo via steam remote play on pc. We had issues with her side of the game being laggy to the point where it was difficult for her to do anything in game. We think it's more of a internet connection and steam remote play issue than an actual game issue, since this happened to us for the Bread and Fred demo. It's just easier for us as players to be able to play via our own pcs/consoles and connect online rather than try to connect to one game via remote play

Hello, I would like to strongly support a request for online co-op please slothPlz
I'll start by saying I have been totally obsessed with the game since last playtest!
When I heard the plans for only couch/remote play co-op I was disappointed due to my previous experiences with remote play. I have played several games as the host and always with pretty poor results. As others have mentioned it depends on your connection and my friends always complained about the lag.
I roped in 2 friends to try the co-op demo with me on Tuesday, and as soon as they joined my remote play connection the game started to lag dramatically for all of us and my discord voice connection also dropped.
Thinking it was a me problem, my other friend tried and he was able to get us to connect (after a horrible experience trying to get the 3 of us connected in the phone menu), although the third friend and I continued to experience lag the few hours that we played.
The other issue is using split screen making everything tiny. I have a pretty large monitor but found myself having to lean across my desk to try to read the crafting menus. My friend playing on a laptop screen also complained the text was so small he couldn't read the control prompts so didn't know how to get around.
I also noticed some bugs with the inventory, but with the game lagging so much it was hard to see and understand what was happening, so it seemed pointless to try to describe it in a bug report.
So all that being said, I don't think I'll be playing the game on remote play again, which is pretty sad. I know its not just a matter of pressing a ‘make the game online co-op’ button, but the game seems really fun to play with friends so I would love this to be possible in future.
Still extremely hyped to play Go Go Town solo though slothicorn

Hi all -

Online is on our backlog, promise! The reason local/couch co-op comes first is has a direct impact on the technical specs for the game. Which is something we need to know when working with consoles.

We also appreciate (and understand) that remote play isn't going to work for everyone. It's very much a hit/miss. However, we did want to get it in as it at least provides a stop gap for some players while they wait for the 'real deal' 🙂
