Give us the option to sail captured ships we dock at our personal island. Also give us the option to mount cannons and other defense weapons that will protect us as we're entering and leaving the docks of our personal island.

And give us more customization options with our ships. If I want to mount the triangular shaped sails of a Polacca or any other ship that has the "unique wind rose" ability on my other ships, I should have that option.

For your first point: being able to captain ships you've captured would render the entire system of researching and building ships pointless

For your second point: you already get 10-ish seconds of temporary invincibility every time you leave your personal island or a port; island cannons that fire on ships threatening you is a bit pointless since (unless you're shooting your own cannons or dropping barrels) you can enter a port or PI at any time, even while under attack.

Third point regarding triangular sails: ships with the unique wind rose, and by extension: ships with oars, are meant to be a unique property for those ships and not shared with any others. If you could mount Polacca's or La Royale's unique wind rose on any other ship, then what's the point of having the unique wind rose in the game?

more options like being able to fundamentally change how certain ships can behave is not customization: that's an erosion of role definition.

If you can put Polacca sails or La Royale’s wind rose on any hull, then those ships lose mechanical identity. You don’t get more diversity — you get meta convergence. Players will mathematically determine the strongest hull + strongest unique ability combo, and suddenly everyone is sailing the same “optimal” hybrid.

The paradox of customization is this: Total freedom often leads to less diversity because players optimize. Once optimization pressure exists, creativity narrows.

That's not my intention, my intention is simply pointing out that mechanics like the unique wind rose should stay unique. It's what gives ships like Polacca their identity on top of being able to mount mortars natively. Remove them, and suddenly why would anyone want to pick up a Polacca?

Titanfall is good examples of unrestricted customization and the unintended effect it has on player expression. In Titanfall, you could freely customize your Titan: choose the chassis, main weapon, offensive tool, and defensive tool.

The result? Everyone ran the same build: Atlas titan with the Arc Cannon or Chaingun, running Cluster Missiles and Vortex Shield.

In Titanfall 2, the developers reduced customizability by having Titans have a predefined and preset chassis, weapon, and tools. Yes, players bemoaned the loss of total control over their titan's customization, but it also meant much healthier gameplay due to variation.

I implore you to at least consider what might happen if gameplay became more customizable in WoSB, if only because I'm concerned that this may not be a healthy decision in the long run

If you're getting bored, Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts is prolly more your speed if you want to just build your own ship

Otherwise... yeah I really don't forsee this happening without disastrous consequences for the game's balance.

It'd be like World of Warships allowing players to freely rip out guns from a different ship to install on some other ship: it'd just end with balance going out the window and the game being even more of a mess than it already is

I would like easier to obtain visual modifications but changing the ships form and function makes it fantasy and breaks the game. altho there is one ship that needs to be reclassified ( Le Requin ) it wasn't a siege ship, it was a coastal interceptor and merchant ship. it was used by pirates, navy and merchants. its in game description even has accurate history about it.

While we're at it, 10 20in mortars on every ship, and I want upgrades for a billion jillion health. Also I want to press 1 button and delete the entire server.

what happens if another player uses the same island?🙃
