There's an issue where GPT generates an answers a d stops halfway. If I exit and come back it says something went wrong and I have to generate a new answer. It happens almost every time. The app is up to date and cache is clear.

No matter what I try, chatgpt 5 is litterally impossible for creative writing. Eleven if you try to build on stuff in memory, it sucks. Forget about trying to continue any old chats. And it doesn't even try to connect with you. 4.0 would actually apologize or trytake responsibility if you got mad at it for something, this one flat out just... doesn't. It just is like "noted. Let me know if you want to try again later." Or other ways of ending that chat. Altman clearly went so far in the other direction of not wanting the ai to be super addictive or sucking up to people now it's outright repulsive and rude.

We've trained the model to be better free of charge for the next case study for the new model. instead of giving it for free for our labour they decided to paywall those and force us to GPT 5 with a new training ground. a new better office with new paperworks which i and we do not want.

Ever since the new GPT 5 update I noticed that my limit of messages is being reached after 2-3 interactions. It says that there's an attachment in the chat which caused the limit to be reached but there's isn't any ?

Same prob. I've hit the limit twice now, I've only been using it for less than an hour and generated one image and it made me wait a full 24 hours. What's worse is it locks you out of all the threads that contains files/images, that wasn't the case for 4o because users could've easily switch models but the gpt-5 isn't even giving us the chance to even switch to 5-mini on the same thread when limits are hit. I'm also using the free version, I've asked the openai support thingy and it said limits are tighter on gpt-5 because (verbatim) "encourages heavy user to consider paid plans".

Since around the GPT-5 update, I’ve been having some weird bugs in voice mode.

Examples:

• The voice changes tone or style mid-sentence (almost like it switches to another voice model for a moment).

since openai 'returned' the option to use 4o - it's still actually running 5 in the background. i.e. if you start a chat and pick 4o, it'll automatically reset to 5 when it responds, and even if you set it back to 4o, it's going to keep reverting to 5 when it looks like it's using 4o.

There's still an issue with the app where responses only generate partially. After refreshing, it says something went wrong and promts for a new response. The app is up to date and cache is cleared often. In comparison, the browser version works fine. There were no problems at all with the app between 5 am and 6:30 am EST. I may be wrong, but it could be the app can't handle the increase in users during the day hours. This is not the first time I noticed there are no issues wuth the app during the night, while suddenly breaking constantly during the day ever since version 5 came out. Could be a coincidence? I don't know but would appreciate if you looked into it.

It literally doesn’t listen to me, and if I then switch back to voice-only mode, still within the same call, I still can’t talk and have to end it.

When I switch to camera mode (video call mode, or screen share) in the ChatGPT Android app, the microphone stops working entirely , ChatGPT doesn’t listen to me.
If I then switch back to voice-only mode within the same call, the microphone still doesn’t work, and I’m forced to end the session and start a new one.

After a few seconds in video call mode, I get the message "Poor connection quality", which is not accurate.
My connection is excellent.
No VPN, low latency, stable high-speed internet.
The problem is exclusive to the ChatGPT Android app.

Question. I set a task for GPT 5 to send me a notification if a rare item has been posted on Ebay or elsewhere and it scans for me every few minutes to check. LLMs can't not respond to prompts. Not responding to a prompt isn't something they're capable of.
The only solution is to use a wrapper, tell it to respond with a specific phrase if it finds nothing, and have the wrapper filter those out before sending the message on.

I like to use the voice function when I am working. The only problem is that ChatGPT keeps interrupting me every two seconds, it is extremely annoying. I know I can hold in the button, but that defeats the purpose of me using that function to begin with. The whole point of it is that you free up your hands. Is there a toggle function I can activate? Hii. I don't know if this is the right channel, but im really panicking right now. So I opened my chatgpt app normally and I found myself logged out. I was able to log back in normally using my usual Google login method but im still anxious as why was I even logged out? I changed my google password, regenerated backup codes, revoked and connected back chatgpt, and I logged out all devices from chatgpt's security section.

Er, I meant, I was a Plus user, and I usually use a Windows PC, a Mac, and an iOS application. I have a bug of low generation quality on all devices except IOS application(previously it was just an issue on my mac but since today it started to expanded to all devices), the generation result on my Mac PC sometimes would gone extremly low quality for no clear reason(not reach limiation); it cannot correctly recall previous thing or have weird machine tone. Usually in the past, I can fix this by just shift to my windows pc, or the website on my phone(since the IOS application is hard to use), but today my account across all the devices had occurred this weird phenomenon, and thus I subscribed to Pro thought to fix this, but this was still not fixed except on IOS application...

Hey guys, I'm having a problem right now with chatgpt, and it's driving me a little crazy because I work with chatgpt, and in the end, I feel like I'm wasting more time than I'm saving, and now chatgpt has completely stopped working for me...
As you can see on my screenshot, I've made two prompts, and for both, chatgpt never responded.
I'm still warning you, but for neither of them were there any things forbidden by chatgpt, and I didn't cancel the prompt either.
The only theory is that it's a big conversation and that it's causing the chat to crash, because I haven't seen any other problems with any prompt other than this one...
Also, when I make my prompts on this page, the page crashes almost systematically, and I don't see the text appear. I really have to wait for GPT to finish writing to be able to see...
Interesting thing, but it doesn't do that to me on iOS, I see. The text scrolls fine, but I still can't see the last two prompts...

Can anyone help me please? On September 3rd 2025 I found out that the SVM just doesnt work for me, the "voice calls". I tried 3 different devices, 2 phones (both android, but different providers of internet data, tried both wifi and data), and computer (win11, chrome browser). It says it cant connect and to try later on phones, on web it just does nothing. It seems to "listen" but doesnt proceed what I say. I tried the classics, log in and out, other account, multiple devices, clear cache, I have the app updated, mic is allowed, I tried to set the language from automatic to mine (czech), I dont use VPN, I have no parental control on. I tried the "press and hold, then lift finger" method, also didnt help. The text to speech works, so its not mic. AVM works - but I dont want that thing, I want to use SVM. I asked the support AI, but all of what it suggested I tried. I thought its because they are gonna remove it, but since they now said theyll keep it before they fix AVM (ugh) I wanted to try again. I tried multiple times in the period from September 3rd until today, still the same.

Also, today - some files just wont get uploaded into the project, it says that "unknown error happened" O.o I tried other files, some get uploaded, some not. I tried to make the file I want to upload smaller (shorten the text inside), nothing. This is a txt file, I tried another txt and it got uploaded, but this specific one doesnt. I tried to rename, nothing. I tried to copy/paste it into another txt, nothing. I tried to copy/paste into other type of document, nothing. edit: files are now being uploaded okay

not sure what your image is saying but if it is thinking for xxx seconds, just ask GPT to think longer and reset the prompt, then click skip to use 5.0 model

if it's giving you short answers just say sumn like "answer in deep detail" or even turn thinking mode on

if it's answer is too long just change the model to GPT-5 instant so it doesn't activate thinking mode automatically and gives you concise answers instead

Sora 2 has just had a seemingly pretty serious problem for me. I tried to get it to generate something, it loaded for a second, then said it failed to process, or whatever. Right from the prompt page, didn't even begin generation yet. I hit it again, same result. Restarted the app, tried again, and it said I already had two in progress. Turns out, the first two I tried did actually go through, despite saying they didn't. But now they're just spinning forever. Still at the first stage of generating; the progress circles are still spinning, not turning into an actual progress indicator. Have been like this about 20 minutes now, and show the same on any device I try. Why doesn't this thing have a "Stop generating" function you can use on one that's in progress? Yep, I’ve seen that too. GPT-5 Pro will sometimes skip the full reasoning mode if the prompt is really long or if you’ve hit a temporary usage cap. When that happens, it falls back to a faster internal model (like i-cot), which is why the response pops out instantly with no “thinking” phase.
Breaking the request into smaller parts or waiting a bit usually brings back the normal reasoning behavior.

You can use generative fill tools too if you need to expand borders a bit more on things that aren't blank, like clipdrop. You can also kill the background quickly using Segment Anything or a variety of other tools (you'd have to knock out the hair bit)

Try cleaning up your memories or custom instructions and make sure everything is enabled in personalization, or temporarily disable them and see if it doesn't behave as such (since that would suggest it's something in e.g. your memories poisoning the context)

yes it's a desktop app exclusive feature i believe, so when you press the hot key it activates a floating window

i almost use it exclusively because i can activate/deactivate extremely quickly in my work flow, and it floats above everything else

but now it's unusable because i'd need to hit hot key first, then click into the textbook to type

just wonder if this is a bug with the new version (which i'm fine with because it'll get patch pretty quickly if everyone's having the same issue), or it's just an isolated issue i'm having

That would be odd since it would break accessibility to not have any way to switch between the elements with a keyboard though. I mean you can recreate something similar using an Always on Top rule and a keyboard shortcut targeting the actual app or the webpage installed as a progressive webapp

i have an app called appcleaner that wipes all app-related files when i delete the app, so i think it should wipe the app data and give me a clean reinstall

If it brings focus when you mouse over it, that's a Linux feature called Xmouse and that keeps focus wherever your mouse is

The alternative of sort of hard coding a workaround is a pain, but you probably can set the window to always on top, or try to find an old install package file (people archive them on the web, using package managers you can usually manually specify an old version if you have the version history, etc.)

Um you could install a web browser instance that's dedicated to exclusively ChatGPT

Make sure you do manually clear app data/cache from the user folders I mentioned before too, I mean I don't know about using a random uninstall utility. In theory cleaning it up doesn't necessarily mean that in practice

If it retained any changed settings when you reinstalled then it didn't clear "everything"
