So I have a language learning app, and I will send the API messages and want to receive a JSON object back with two properties: the response in the chosen language and the translation of that response.

The first request works fine, I get both properties. But the second request always lacks the translation property. Anyone has an idea why this happens? I use model 3.5 (no access to 4 yet) and temperature 0.1.

Nope. Why would you need a video and what would a template even look like? Just upload your character description to the Code Interpreter and see if it works to interact with - start with a relatively short one.

FYI, your character desription is probably way too long already, since you can describe an extremely complex character with a couple pages of notes. You don't need to use full sentences over, say, lists of traits, and it doesn't help GPT understand the character better to be more long-winded

Just tell it you want to interact with the character you uploaded and ask it to play that character and It'll probably get it. It's not really what the code interpeter is made for but why not, might work

I pasted Chad my custom instructions and asked him if he's seen them before. He tells me 'only once at the beginning of convo'.
As the convo progressed, it felt like Chad wasn't sticking to the instructions as much, which lead me to suspect that OpenAI is not using some sort of context reintroduction method that refreshes its memory about the goals of the convo.

Am I wrong to think that this is a pretty lacking feature, given that it's identical to just starting a regular convo and just writing the initial prompt with context in there straight up. I was hoping for the effect to last, but alas...

EDIT: have gotten it to work, but it's a bit tedious.
If I only feed it very few lines at a time, it works for the most part.
It's not 100% though.

Sometimes it still messes with subtitle numbers.
Sometimes it doesn't translate all lines, which is weird because it also complains if I feed it too many lines.
Fair enough, I'm fine with having to break up my text into smaller chunks.

Even the playground responses are different than actually calling the API from python (I copied code from playground). Playground: correct 10/10 times. Python: correct 2/10 times. Same prompt, no other context. Super weird. Either OpenAI injects system prompts etc. that we don't get to see (like you are saying), or there is a different gpt-4 model in API vs. chatgpt/playground.

Hey guys, my Chat GPT won't work on my PC most of the time. Occasionally it'll load fine but most of the time it won't load History, or be able to even be used. I've done all the typical stuff. Does anyone know why Bing plugins are gone? They were available for short time before. Well, there was one plugin, which disabled the internet search function for Bing, making Bing not overly reliant on the information from internet, causing him to be more self-reliant, I guess. I had a plus membership, then something happened with billing and my card wasn't able to be processed. I tried updating my payment method within the browser, but I couldn't get it to work. However, it was working on my phone's chatGPT app so I paid for the plus membership on there last week. Chat still isn't working on my computer. I've tried multiple browsers, incognito, restarting my computer, and deleting the browser's cache but nothing is working. My history is gone, while logged in, it asks me to refresh but that doesn't work. And when I try to start a new chat on the browser while in the free mode, the send button turns orange and it doesn't do anything. Can someone, for the love of god, please let me know how I can fix this? THANKS!!!

Is there a way of deleting parts of a chat in chat gpt? For example you go along with the first response for awhile but then relise it's not heading in the direction you want it to go so scroll back and get a different response and go along with that instead. GPT is a great teacher, especially for Python since that's the language it knows best. what I'd recommend though is that you ask it to explain the necessary steps. don't just ask it to spoon-feed you code, because if you do that, you won't learn anything. it's also really good at helping you to interpret error messages and fix what's wrong

hello, I've been having problems with chat gpt. When I log in with my second laptop I am able to log in but I can't interact with chat because it says " something went wrong" and " unable to load conversation" but it works fine on my other laptop. They are both on the same network, I cleared the cache/ cookies from my browser, I tried using other browsers, I tried disabling my extensions, I even made a new account with openAI and this did work very briefly until the error worked again. I don't think this is an anti-virus/firewall issue because once in a blue moon, it will work. Does anyone have any other recommendations for me to try?

What happened to ChatGPT-4? It suddenly outputs very low quality responses, and very fast ones at that, as if it didn't do much math.

You're a legend! I checked my DNS (I'm using NextDNS) and it was blocking cdn.oaistatic.com because apparently it's a "newly registered domain" and it was blocking on that basis. Once I white-listed the cdn.oaistatic.com, flushed the DNS cache (and waited a bit) it all works! Thank you!!

Hi guys, going to create a site/app and am following a basic guide from Web Dev Simplified for right now and also the OpenAI docs. Hi everyone, I am using OpenAI Whisper large-v2 to transcribe 30-second videos and the performance is great so far! But even though whisper is robust to background noise, there are a couple of videos that the model cannot transcribe because the background music is too loud. Do you know about any other models that is more robust to background noise?
