Hi peeps, I'm new here but I get a question that I wan some same minded people their opinion on, I had already for a long time (long before the time of openclaw and paperclip) the idea to create a tool that let AI chats talk to each other. Well now is the day I created it and I already notice that it get quickly go of the rails.
I did give it full access to the vm it was running on but put saveguards like how many messages/loops it could generate.
I asked it to create a joke and the first 3 times it generated up to 12 times a joke, 12 times was the message limit I set. But the fourth time it says, well we already told a joke, maybe we can no do something else ... would there be something we can help on in this project ... then they looked in my got commit messages ... and based on that they started improving the code of the application they where running in and even did go up to the git push.
No I know this is a bit simular like paperclip works and there are other tools that can do simalar things but this system has as core that the agents must talk to each other (they can get optional goals).

No the real question, because this application lets agents enforce each other and is easly as starter system to roll out what ever you want in an potential uncontrolled way depending the limitations that where set ... are there persons in here that has developed the same kind of system and should I make this project public?

I believe the biggest issue is with the guardrails. the more rules we create the more it forgets, so keeping it as simple as possible, just imagine how many rules it has to remember due to guardrails before it even reads yours. i believe its thousands of lines every prompt

It’s a classic case of too many cooks in the kitchen. When you force a model to cross reference thousands of words of safety rules before it even thinks about your actual question you get multiple issues

I also believe giving LLM rules also triggers guardrails to make sure the rules are not there to prevent the issue, this also has huge issues because its a predictive language model, one time it may predict correctly the next it may not, just because it written as a rule dont mean the LLM actually understandsd it

From the models perspective there is zero functional difference between your prompt and the developers rules. they are all just a single string of text tokens being fed into the same probability engine.

This is an earlier paper from them pre-dating Mythos model. It also specifically analyzes error incoherence not the model performance. They basically took all the wrong responses (good/correct outputs were deliberately omitted) and they tried to see if there's any genuine validity to those hand picked incorrect responses. Quite unsurprisingly, reasoning responses where the model took the wrong path end up being wasteful and without tangible value.

You should actually read it as it isn't at all about what it may look like at first glance. They aren't saying that reasoning is bad, or that training has hit the wall, or that AI can't improve substantially with current techniques or anything even remotely similar to this.

AI might fail not through systematic misalignment, but through incoherence—unpredictable, self-undermining behavior that doesn't optimize for any consistent objective. That is, AI might fail in the same way that humans often fail, by being a hot mess.
