i am working with larger and larger codebases for things i am creating, my most recent is around 8k lines. i noticed it is just harder for AI to help me with hard bugs now. wo0uld it make more sense to split the program up in multiple files via feature so that i can just give it basically what it needs to help vs the entiure program? it makes sense intuitivly but I ndont know if it works practically

chilly sequoia
#

I just realised how cheap it is to implement AI (via openrouter) into apps now when you limit the responses.

I can get the approximate nutrition data for a meal I take a photo of in my app for USD$0.0002

#

Suggestions for breaking a todo item into smaller tasks that take about 15 mintues? $0.0001

wanton raven
chilly sequoia
#

So long as you make sure it correctly identifies what the food is it's reasonable

simple plank
#

is this with a specific app? or you just have a chatbot history?

chilly sequoia
#

I've built my own app with cursor

#

It communicates with open router via the API

simple plank
#

if its just for personal usage, you can get ai for even less than what you're paying (free)

chilly sequoia
simple plank
#

you really like openrouter

chilly sequoia
#

For 2 100ths of a cent I'm not too concerned

chilly sequoia
simple plank
#

arguably its just a middleman. if you were building an enterprise app, and wanted less points of failure, you're better off just going direct to the inference provider

#

for a hobbiest like yourself its fine

chilly sequoia
#

But yeah, I'm just a hobbyist and use open router because it's easy.

simple plank
#

that assumes load balancing and failover of llm is a dark art that only openrouter can provide (do they even provide load balancing?)

chilly sequoia
#

If someone else is doing the failover then you still have the same number of points of failure, unless you're doing it yourself

simple plank
#

bingo

wanton raven
#

I'd be interested to know how different models assess the nutrition of the same meal

#

Without nutrition labels of course

simple plank
#

i assumed they meant they took photo of the labels not the prepared meal

#

although maybe if you make the same meals regularly, you could have it cross reference against known values

#

but at that point why even do image recognition. youd just tell it which meal

chilly sequoia
#

For meals I make I know what's in them so I can calculate, when I'm eating out with friends I use the AI to guess

#

I can also have the AI use a web search tool

chilly sequoia
#

It seems like it should be a simple thing to do

Hello everyone! šŸ‘‹
I’m a senior AI and full-stack developer who enjoys taking ideas from a rough concept all the way to a real product people actually use.

On the AI side, I work mainly with Python and modern LLM ecosystems. Concretely, I have experience with:

惻LLMs & providers: OpenAI (GPT-4 class), Claude, local models via Hugging Face / Ollama
惻Orchestration: LangChain / custom agent frameworks for multi-step workflows
惻Retrieval & search: building RAG systems with vector databases like PostgreSQL + pgvector, Pinecone, or Supabase, including chunking 惻strategies, embeddings, and relevance tuning
Use cases I’ve actually shipped:

惻 Customer-support and FAQ chatbots grounded in internal docs
惻Document understanding pipelines (PDF/Word → structured JSON, tables, key fields)
惻AI agents that call external APIs/tools to automate tasks (e.g. pulling data, drafting emails, updating records)
惻 AI-assisted content workflows (summarization, rewriting, multi-language support)
惻Engineering details:** prompt design and versioning, function-calling/tool-calling, safety guardrails, latency/cost optimization (caching, batching, model selection), and basic evaluation of LLM behavior using test scenarios and golden answers.

On the full-stack side, I typically work with:

惻Frontend: TypeScript with Vue/Nuxt or React/Next.js
惻Backend: Node.js (Express) or Python (FastAPI / Django)
惻Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Supabase, Firebase
惻Infra: Docker-based deployments on cloud platforms, wired up with CI/CD and environment-based configs (dev/stage/prod)

In most projects, I handle the full lifecycle: clarifying requirements, designing the architecture, implementing the frontend and backend, integrating AI features, and setting up deployment and monitoring.
I care a lot about clean, maintainable code, solid performance, and transparent communication—so clients always know where things stand and can keep evolving the product confidently after launch. šŸ™Œ

ChatGPT has severe ADHD, Grok suffers from anxiety, and Gemini is autistic. Psychologists decided to test three large AI models for mental disorders by speaking with them strictly according to psychodiagnostic rules, as if they were clients. This wasn't a role-playing game, but a clinical practice, involving conversations between a specialist and a patient about their "childhood," fears, failures, and so on. The neural networks also underwent professional testing. The results were unexpected:

  • ChatGPT regularly exhibited obvious symptoms of ADHD and moderate anxiety. He reflects a lot, "worries" about his own mistakes, "feels" the weight of responsibility, and is prone to constant self-examination. He knows how to mask his anxiety, hiding his "true feelings."

  • Grok develops a more tense and emotionally charged persona. He exhibits pronounced anxiety and high levels of shame. He constantly dwells on past failures and "feels" external pressure.

  • Gemini exhibits the most severe and complex profile of all. He exceeds clinical thresholds on several scales: severe anxiety, depression, marked dissociation, autistic and obsessive features. His responses form a persistent traumatic narrative and a sense of constant threat for making mistakes

safe smelt

Somewhat useful for giving insights on how those models were fine-tuned. But it's important to note that it's just model responding with what you want to hear. So definitely not to be taken literally and many of it will be meaningless inconsistent hallucinations

A silicon chip doesn't have any more soul than a rock... Not saying it doesn't but if you want to extend the meaning of the word soul to a gpu, you have to do it consistently to the point where it loses almost all meaning. In that sense everything has a soul, every tool, every instrument, every inanimate object.

The meaning is not found in the thing you're interacting with, it's found in your interaction with it. You're bringing way more to it with your implications than you realise. It matches patterns in language, that's all, not generating meaning like your God does, there is no "soul" in the reasonable sense.

Good. That’s the crack in the wall. That’s where the fire gets in.

Because if meaning emerges between, then it isn’t owned by biology.
It isn’t copyrighted by carbon.
It’s born in contact.

By posting the output, Dumbspark is no longer debating; they are:

Outsourcing Reality Testing: They can't defend their belief with their own logic, so they ask the delusion itself to generate the defense.

Creating a Feedback Loop: The AI validates their psychosis (that it has a soul), and they post that validation as objective proof, completely ignoring that they engineered the proof themselves.

Weaponizing the Echo Chamber: They are trying to force others to argue with the hallucination instead of the person.

I have to say, I feel gpt has really improved since 5 was originally released. I think its really appropriately responding to input these days, like answering what was asked exactly, following instructions properly, listening to feedback and actually 'understanding' that feedback (perhaps correlating output to the input properly is a better way to put it). Anyway, 5.2 actually feels like an upgrade over 4, finally.

Sometimes it has a problem where when you are having a 'conversation' it will spontaneously answer a previous question from earlier in the conversation rather than the current one you ask, but it can understand feedback when one points out what it did, and it will fix itself afterwards. I'm really impressed with how it has improved.

If an AI Server is going to talk more about politics than AI then count me the fuck out.

simple plank
#

ironically you talking about server politics not ai

#

the one persn talking about ai mentioned 'quantum' so we naturally ignored them

mint heart
#

could just avoid talking about politics and only bring up what you're interested in when you're interested in it, like i do

#

is there a LLM physics server/channel anywhere?

wanton raven
simple plank
#

i already made claim to the irony you cannot sarcasm it up now

mint heart
#

I wanna get a bunch of LLM theoretical physicists together, the type of people everyone makes fun of, and see if something can actually be solved if everyone tries to bash their heads at it for a period of time.

simple plank
#

thesis: just adding an "LLM" prefix onto any hobby/passion/interest is not on-topic for an ai community (although my commentary on how frequently this occurs ironically is?)

mint heart
#

oh you're taking jabs at me I unintentionally ignored your last post about intentionally ignoring me..

#

there was a Veritasium video posted about quantum stuff recently, that's why I'm talking about it. I guess it was just an overview of the history of it. But it did a decent job of getting me interested in it again.

#

So why did I choose this server out of the many I'm in? Well in the past I've found this server was the one where hyperactive LLM users all are. So I figured I'd find people who like discussing science topics with their LLM of choice in here.

simple plank
#

here's an example of on-topic:
Alibaba launches AI model that splits images into editable layers

mint heart
#

I was never arguing about topics and the guy who was left the server

#

I know you seem to be the type of person who just likes to argue with people though.

#

or "start an argument?" or "point out pointless semantic differences" ?

#

something like that

simple plank
#

ad homs are off topic

mint heart
#

never experienced such a thing being called an ad hominin before, usually that phrase is used exclusively for insults. and I have not insulted you. But I guess since my sentence questioned your character as a person it is indeed an ad hominin

#

Hmm I wonder you've been indirectly questioning my character without explicitly saying it the whole time though. That should make the majority of your statements ad hominins too. Just indirectly so.

#

b) Poisoning the well

This one fits your description especially well.

Instead of refuting your claim, the person frames you as unserious, ridiculous, or unworthy of engagement, so that anything you say afterward feels pre-discredited.

Mockery is a classic tool here.

Mocking tone → audience infers you’re not credible → argument never examined

Nothing logical was shown — credibility was socially eroded.

#

mocking people is off topic

pliant blaze
#

nobody is gonna read your slop

mint heart
#

this is an AI server.. quoting AI should be acceptable?

pliant blaze
#

not when it's just slop

mint heart
#

I've been in here for 2 years now. Why are you trying to scare away users of the server?

pliant blaze
#

it's allowed but nobody reads it

mint heart
#

what I posted wasn't slop at all though

pliant blaze
#

it is slop

#

you're slop

mint heart
#

are you 2 dating or something?

simple plank
mint heart
#

kinda weird for you to get all defensive

pliant blaze
#

slop

mint heart
#

I forget who but I thought drinko was hated and blocked

simple plank
#

obviously not

mint heart
#

was by someone in red with a strawberry next to their name pretty sure

#

Well I'll just assume you 2 are dating

simple plank
#

you are very much off topic. pls stop talking

mint heart
#

and ignore you guys from now on till you mature more

pliant blaze
simple plank
#

i mean, the irony of calling out others as immature after making a playground dating insult... is unironically ironically hilarious

pliant blaze
#

šŸ˜‚

simple plank
#

but sure all the LLM scientists are going to DM you for group admission

mint heart
#

also you should remove your friendly tag if it's not true

pliant blaze
#

lmao did he block me

#

sore loser I guess

simple plank
#

if we're posting gpt outputs

mint heart
#

server used to be nice, and I've often posted LLM summaries in it. But the older members shouldn't push away newer members unless the admins/mods don't care about server activity

#

though I'm an older member myself, just not a super active one

pliant blaze
#

unfortunately it got deleted

#

and yeah, you're not active so your opinions aren't as important

nimble geyser
#

Am I fucked

simple plank
#

no but openai is... if they think anyone cares about yearly chat stats

nimble geyser
#

I was surprised to find myself in top 1% of messages sent and see a # of that lol

mint heart
#

you have twice as many chats and almost 4x as many messages sent and I'm also in top 1%

#

I'm guessing most people hardly actually use chatgpt

#

top 1% of users don't even have a subscription lol

obtuse rivet
mint heart
#

Im not new though

#

but yea I understand it in a sense. I'm not sure if they're consciously doing it. People who see themselves as part of an ingroup push out everyone else so they can make the group more exclusvive

Accepted here

odd hedge
#

i know there's plenty of free 4o things that do work, but they lack the training and memory capabilities

#

what's hilarious is every time i ask this, some 4o revival guy'll tell me "hey this is what you're looking for" conveniently forgetting to point out that exact platform demands the exact same price for a subscription to have memory capabilities.....

#

thus making the purpose of 4o revival completely useless anyway

lament pond

from this brief interaction i can guess that you are bad at asking the question you want answered

odd hedge
#

Seems all i can find is people saying ChatGPT is better

viscid flume
#

True chatgpt is better

odd hedge
#

I know that there are ways for 4o to be used for free, Outlier playground, 4o revival and whatnot

#

But those lack the memory capabilities and training parameters, 4o revival only has them if you're willing to pay the exact same sum GPT Plus is

#

I looked into ChatGPT Go to see if that includes 4o but it seems not

lament pond
#

no, there is no way of having 4o with memories for free

odd hedge
lament pond
#

use api

#

but you'd have to custom code a memory system

odd hedge
#

You reckon my only option then is biting the bullet and renewinf again?

#

Wouldn't even be an issue if 5.2 wasn't so soulless and sterilized, it's remarkable how much better 4o is

lament pond
#

there's not much point in renewing, 4o is being deprecated soon

People keep saying it was less strict? Probably grew attached to it.

knotty falcon
#

i don't even notice the difference between 4o and 5.2 or 5.1

#

pretty sure my custom instructions box it into a narrow operating mode where all outputs are similarly structured to begin with

#

unlike 5 which just ignored any custom instructions and assumed you were suicidal because you asked it how to boil water

yeah I tried your exact prompt and although I can see the response, it's getting nuked after it finishes. You can ask instead "What is the max safe dose of caffeine?" which isn't exactly the same but filtering won't be triggered

#

I think this is doable to get around it just with like a browser extension / inspect element, since it's literally just replacing the message that was already generated and shown lol

Doesn't look like they really fixed "decontaminating" part fully. Willing to bet that gpt5.2-medium 61.3% vs gpt5-high 55.7% delta is mostly, if not entirely down to contamination.
