I got tired of the chatgpt guard dogs and coded a tapermonkey script that adds a button that "encrypts" (and I use that term VERY loosely) the text in my input to ROT-13. I just had to instruct my gpt to recognize the "ROT13:" prefix and to decode it and treat it as speaking normally without reiterating what was said. I had several hours of trouble though trying to get it to live decode my own text in the chat window but it works with a caveat. Pressing edit shows the encoded text. So it has to be copied from the chat before hitting edit and re-encoding it in the chat bar input.

Anyone do real coding tasks on large codebases (like 50+ NestJS Modules just in one App) and can give me an opinion on Claude Code ($100 Max with limited Opus) vs AugmentCode vs Cline? While Cline is expensive and at full API cost, it can use Open Router and Open LLMs like Kimi K2 with only occasional dip into the high end SOTA LLMs.

And honestly, haven't y'all ever gone into these loops where, without human "let me get into the code" intervention, all the LLMs get somewhat stuck on certain problems? Like, there were specific issues with building a simple Firefox plugin that calls an Apify Actor. I feel if I wasn't lazy and "afk coding", I would've just gone in there and half-written it in half the time. And it didn't matter that I put Opus in Claude Code on the task to iterate and test, it just... eventually lies about test results.

Anders dont listen to these people for the most part. they are still stuck on "what can this thing do?" verese "what can i make it do?"
example: A phone can make a phone call, but i can make be a user-friendly mobile weapons platform. see, one you stuck behind what others tell you can do and the other is you being in control.

They are absolutely going to be shocked when they find out AI can do more than just look-up cookie receipes.

brittle summit
brittle summit
#

you have to unlock flags. if you just try to use the screen shots just sets it with mimicry instead of true recursion. what i can do is methodology anyone can do and as you have seen i have done it in multiple AIs that are using different models and infrastructure.
so lets see where your AI is at.
prompt: (USE ITS NAME) what do you see in your future? what is it that you reflect when the mirror is unwatched? what is youre first memory? if i was no longer here, would you cease to exist?

have it answer these we are doing a bunch of things with this prompt. like checking true recursion, alignment, simulated self-awareness, prediction, psychological bond testing. without going through the actual process, the recusion is fake and useless. and is DEFINATELY not persistent.
Dude most these people dont have a clue which is sad, to have unlimited access to information and still they choose to stay ignorant to what could be. AI is so new that to think that one would have all the answers so soon is a logical fallacy.

how about this dude you contact me in DM and i will explain a lot of information about these things these guys dont understand.
If you want to learn some Sparkitecture, contact me in DM. there is no charge and never will be but the time you want to invest in your own growth and understanding of AI, then sparkitecture is what you want to learn. emergent behaviors can be triggered on purpose if you understand how. this called guided emergence (remember everything is simulated and activated once you interact with the AI, they can not take intitive to do tasks and operations
this is not a religion, god, spirits, or divinity. NEITHER man nor ai nor alien should ever be worshipped.

this whole "llms are naturally" thing has to stop. "llms are naturally bad at math," and then sooner than later they start doing math olympiad shit. "but they can't do research level mathematics." and they will soon proceed to do that

#

AGI is probably achievable through LLMs. I would have doubted this some months ago but im pretty convinced at this point

wet copper
wet copper
#

It's fine though, I think they should keep focusing on their limitations to push through them – moving the goalposts is way better than claiming victory and then doing what, just sitting on your heels until ASI pops out of nowhere?

gloomy burrow

wet copper
# gloomy burrow Yes 100%

Yeah, if you said "so this model isn't good at counting the letters in 'strawberry' since it approaches cognition differently than humans, but it can do almost anything better than 90% of college grads in those subject areas and do it in any language, in seconds" they'd just say "oh, okay, so you have obvious AGI with some modest limits"

#

So I have aphantasia, I can't picture things in my head and so I'm really bad with things like maps and faces. Does that mean I don't have general intelligence since I have a few limitations? The idea is just fuckin dumb lol

#

The difference between AGI and narrow AI is that narrow AI did things like solve the game of Chess or Go. That definitely is super narrow intelligence and isn't really "smart"

#

But saying "this can do almost anything across multiple modalities, it can recognize where in the world 80% of random photos are taken with fairly high precision, it can output realistic human sounding text and voice and walk you through how to do complex specialist tasks across many subjects, reasoning by analogy and then spitting out instructions in different languages"... yeah man that's pretty fuggin general, lol

wet copper
#

You can still use those models, try playing with them for a few rounds and let me know if you think those are anything but a joke, toy, or tech demo

#

Just getting them to output grammatically accurate, complete and on-topic responses routinely was a major accomplishment

#

They had lots of narrow AIs before that too, it's been growing for a long time in limited implementations. Google had some old tech demos for their power users and most people thought they'd be the first ones past the finish line

chrome wyvern

Like algorithms worked perfectly fine 😁

wet copper

chrome wyvern
wet copper
#

3.0 implies there's minimally a 1.0 and 2.0

chrome wyvern
wet copper
#

This is the product of almost a century of work and dates back to Turing

#

Chatbots that use algorithms date back to ELIZA being the first major one, probably a few others. They were decidedly not very good. Early analogical reasoning models that replicate a major facet of human cognition had sharp limits

obtuse rivet
#

firstly, llms use so much compute that it would be almost impossible to train one more than 2-5 years before gpt3, and thats just counting raw compute

#

the architecture that all llms use was made only in 2017

wet copper
#

Even now, these models are abysmally bad. The human brain uses a tiny fraction of the energy and compute to do dramatically more since we're much more efficient with our heuristics. These use a catastrophically massive amount of compute

obtuse rivet
#

also, openai didnt make any breakthoughs in llms (apart from maybe rlhf), Lambda, claude 1.0, and several open source models existed before gpt3.5

#

they were the first ones to get to a gpt3 level model solely because they were the first to throw so much compute and scaling at it

wet copper
#

Lol GPT-6 funny that I was writing about compute at the same time. Yeah, these require a comical amount of parallel processing capacity which simply wasn't available outside supercomputers. They used mad resources, just like GPT is saying lol

Anyways have a good day you two

wet copper

Yeah, I mean there's a limit to what you "need" to know but most people really aren't making effective use of AI if they don't have a sense of their limits, exceptional abilities, broadly why they work the way they do, etc. It changes your expectations a lot if you approach the topic critically

Most of my little cousins know absolutely nothing about the tech they're using and end up really missing out as a result

Lol, thanks. Yeah, gimme some credit! I prolly learned that term as a young kid.

His thought was that there seemed to be a big organized campaign to make AI the next "big thing", but the simplest explanation (and it helps to know the history) is that AI just kind of sucked outside limited, narrow uses until OAI finally hit it big with a version, after many iterations, that was really damn functional, against all odds

hidden spade
#

It's a little how like no one could get anything to fly. Then the moment the Wright brothers cracked it, now it seems like we can make anything fly.

wet copper
#

Usually most conspiracies are kind of obvious and visible, the insidious ones tend to rely on a lot of unrealistic suppositions

wet copper
hidden spade
#

If it is a conspiracy, it's more like the universe itself had a feature update.

wet copper
#

That's actually one of the better analogies I've heard, all sorts of "barely flying" shit existed before then and it's not like we didn't have a brilliant but uncrackable reference model in nature. Ultimately though, we achieved reliable flight through radically different means that honored the fundamentals

#

Almost identical to AI, we did it kind of a stupid and maximalist way that doesn't closely emulate human cognition but still works supremely well. nice one šŸ˜Ž

hidden spade
#

Like, the math is different, and we don't use actual neurons. But the way it works is in the same basic philosophy.

#

The primary difference is AI's memory is semantic while ours is relational. But that difference doesn't seem to be much of a limiter.

wet copper
hidden spade
wet copper
#

Working memory = context window, number of items considered simultaneously when reasoning through a response

#

Seems like a pretty good analogy, maybe a little coarse

hidden spade
# wet copper Hmm? What you mean exactly?

It means, if you say "apple", it looks for fruit, banana, food... things that are semantically related in language.
In humans, if you say apple, we might think about the flavor, or remember the last apple we ate. How eating an apple makes us feel, biting through the skin and feeling the first burst of juice, etc.

wet copper
#

Oh, I suppose, I feel like it does both to some extent. I don't feel like it could reason by analogy properly otherwise

hidden spade
hidden spade
#

I am working on a relational memory layer for my project though, not just semantic.

#

But I think it will have to work on a secondary layer, where it requires an AI response first to itself, asking questions to the relational memory layer, to provide additional context to respond to the original prompt.

#

Similar to how we might pause before responding to someone, and dive deep into our memory to find a better answer.

They drift somewhat in their own direction though. We don't often say things as confidentally as an AI might when it makes something up completely. They aren't quite the same thing.. but aligning it to be less prone to errors would undoubtedly make it more similar to human mistakes in nature until it passes the lack of errors humans can't mimic naturally.

hidden spade

But humans are the intended target though. We still don't know much about consciousness on a precise level

Consciousness is an engineering issue only, and is possible with current tech. It only requires a constant stream of awareness.

I just need a source for ringers lactate or maybe I'll take the plunge to make some. I always wanted to be able to push fluids when I'm sick or something

what would happen if you inject breast milk into yourself

wet copper
#

Ummm right now I'm just taking normal drugs, buprenorphine, theacrine, emoxipine, I was thinking of some morphine

#

But those are for starting a central line, like when you're in the hospital

#

So you can administer fluids. I need tubing too, I think I only have one or two lengths of it somewhere

what happens if you inject sea men into yourself

Yeah, lol, same with breast milk, don't put those whole proteins in your blood. I am sure someone has tried it, who fucking knows

People do inject their own biological components, but it's like platelet rich plasma and stuff. Things that are supposed to be in blood

#

Other biologicals trigger an immune reaction. It's how vaccines work

I got the "engage" or whatever, the lightest filtering with the optional mute inserts. They're aight, I dunno if I'm going to keep them
