Context Engineering is for when a lot of the information that the model needs to answer properly comes from you, the source, contained in local memory stores. How to find and provide that information to the model.

ChatGPT is a tool and it can be used to prevent you from having to think deeply about things. Things like having it do some of your homework, having it write emails for you, etc. The problem is, it's very easy to misuse it in the sense that it prevents you from using your brain in a way that is good and keeps you stay focused and engaged in what you're doing.

The main goal to use it correctly in college in my opinion is to use it to speed up things like helping you write emails to your professor, or helping you generate a study table or reference table to help you do your homework if you have to tediously keep looking up stuff to do your assignments. Don't ever use it to do your homework problems for you unless you want an explanation on how to do a certain problem. You will be tempted to use it more and more to get through homework quickly when you're tired and have a deadline.

Also, bonus, using AI to sort of help you get into the mindset/focus of what you should be thinking of when about to do a homework problem is also great. Like a tutor giving you suggestions to help you think through it correctly without giving you any answers or steps.

But if you're asking about if it's accurate or not or worth it in doing the actual assignment, yeah it's worth it. The reasoning models will pretty much get any undergraduate stem problem right

Ah sorry. Yeah it's worth it as long as you have a little extra money to spare each month. You'll likely never run out of prompt use before they give you more. With 4o (single step reasoning model) you get like 80 prompts per 3 hours, and can upload like up to 10 different homework problems from your camera roll at a time. The multi step reasoning models like o3 and o4-mini you get like 25-100 prompts per week. I think it's 100 per week for o3 currently. That's the incredibly smart model that will rarely get the problem wrong for STEM related problems that aren't obscure

Always use the multi step reasoning models for the foundational work to arrive to the answer, then use the cheap model 4o for follow up questions related to the problem if you don't add any more content to the homework problem
