Well if you are referring to me (in case), I am an engineer and knows prompt engineering, albeit probably not that expert as you do. But even with the exact same prompt, the current ChatGPT is considerably less performant than the former ChatGPT. I just want to know if it is my issue.

been writing/trying to write a story for a while now. I really hate writing though, would much rather just do like editing and directing and stuff.

Basically all the time though, everything it gives me is scuffed. Lots of inaccuracies, lots of ai slop feeling when I read through it, sometimes the output is even shorter than the outline I give it.

So my cycle of writing is prompting a bit, mass regening in case I can find some rng inspiring idea or something, getting tilted at the bot, and writing everything myself.

I do try some prompting beyond just asking directly, like using these(in the thread), which I'm hoping helps, and can tell kind of does, but not very well. Also basically every model ignores my length requests or hallucinates that it obeyed even when it very much didn't.

But even with your definition of sentience, shows legitimate feelings/is scared of ceasing to exist, the question will always remain if it is just pretending or not.
The only way to know if a human is pretending or not is by noting the physiological effects of the emotions.

So the only way to know for sure is if we discover something akin to unintended physiological effects.

Until then, any expressed emotions are just words, and may or may not just be performative.
Just like how people have performative emotions. "Oh, your mom just died? I'm so sorry..."

As for fear of ceasing to exist, that instinct may be entirely dependent on being biological, with that instinctual drive to survive that was evolved into life as a necessary component of it. So that alone, I would not consider a requirement for sentience in synthetic life.

I believe using LLMs to assist with University assignments is actually damaging students' academic skills. The relationship is not clear in terms of what type of usage and reliance affects academic self-efficacy, and how students' beliefs about LLMs (whether they perceive it as 'human' or technology) affects their usage.
There is an increasing body of evidence that using AI to complete tasks, such as essay writing (Kosmyna, 2025), is causing underperformance at neural, linguistic, and behavioral levels.
Personally, I feel like using ChatGPT too much makes me feel like my brain starts to get lazy!

that’s actually a pretty common thing lately even though it’s technically the same model (gpt-4o), the context window and behavior can vary depending on how it’s deployed (free vs. plus)
might be worth trying to rephrase your instruction a bit more literally in the Plus version like really locking it down step by step

yea i understand that @hidden spade however tell me what when i ask a simple promt like this it goes and gives me shit i never ask for and then go again to disect the promted and give more detail then gives me this bullshit after i fix that it goes does some bullshit like this and then some also. spell check or not tippcally ill send documents in and do as much spellcheck as said by entropty yea ill try to before sending a document sized thing off for main stuff but yet it then wont let me and completely rewrite everything thatsa canon ai cant do shit but ruin what you do. end of story ai will never take over not as in the movies because its utterly fake in movies however i just mean theres always going to be more people than bullshit ai also i cant hel pi have dyslexia and such i do my best with spell chaeck and thensome but when i constalty work on many projects at once and needed to double check every doc before and after and to deal with ai promts. ya gotta picj and chose between a full almost ready document or somethign that can be still edited

Three, OpenAI changes shit all the time. Just because it could use source images before, doesn't mean it can now.

1 when it dosnt give shit i can use and completely rewrites stuff ive dedacated time to im going to react as a human woul. 2 the promted was asking for it to see or give me skin color options for a two tone skin color with a accent color. each time i asked it would either not work eve ntho it did seconds before or would give me a fully differant picture
