saved memory is the most reliable way, but its space is limited so keep your entries summarized and short if possible. also customize chatgpt is a reliable way to have your ai remember how its supposed to act - barring few hardcoded behaviors like starting the chat with immediate flattery and ending it with further questions. archiving chats is good for saving overflows that wont fit in saved memory, although the ai usually wont remember them quickly - or correctly - unless you specifically refer to it or quote from it.

It is very difficult for it to disagree with us. One trick though is to ask it to roleplay as someone who is critical. That gives it explicit permission.

Its default behavior is to be sycophant.

If you ask an LLM why it did something, it makes up a new reason on the spot. It doesn't know why it did something in the past because it is stateless and does not see the past, it only knows what it is told that it generated.

If you use the playground or the API you will learn that what is actually happening each time a request is made is you are sending something like "I said X, you said Y, then I said Z. What do you say next?" to the robot. So all it knows about the existing conversation is the output, each time (plus system message, memories you've stored in the settings, and contextual history from other conversations in the case of chatgpt) , and it simply adds to it by generating the next part.

There's no hidden information behind the scenes where it stores a memory of what it was doing or what it was thinking or why certain responses were generated. It's only guessing based on what it reads from its past output.

As for what it actually says in your last screenshot, that's just classic ChatGPT being dramatic. It's all made up of course.

Straight up "terse" removes those "Okay"s but if you include all that to give it more personality it might be overly cryptic
