Hey - so this morning I wanted to generate some flyer designs and got extremely unlucky with ChatGPT and Claude - but going back to Canva it seemed to generate those (I think) older ChatGPT style images and for my reasons (ideation) its much more effective..

It's going to be a very coarse guess, one of those chicken and the egg / Dunning-Krueger problems that you need to have some notable background in the subject matter to know what's important. The rest of them seem solid.
8) is dangerous and you might want to add more nuance.
9) is useful, but give it your background, etc. first. GPT tends to give lots of generic metaphors. People without well-written CIs probably shouldn't use that.
6) I'd be more specific on structure.
4) Same deal, importance is relative. State a direction.
3) Similar to 9, I need to know constraints. Expand to state level of expertise in several dimensions.

It's kind of interesting how bigger model seems to do so much better with RL training though. They need a whole generation newer variant and then longer reasoning chains too (which are likely distilled from bigger variant as well), to get to the same performance with a smaller one.

yeah, transformer models just like to sound like they know whats up. they're good at detecting patterns and running with them.

if you really want to nail this one, you'll need to provide a lot more information about each card, at least three examples of a quality deck, and reasoning behind what makes them good. you'll likely need to include an abbreviated rulebook also. you may run into context size limits before you land on a working solution, at which point you'll need to consider strategies for providing a shorter but higher level summary, and giving it the ability to query a card database when necessary

you misunderstood what I was trying to say though. Yeah they did release o3-mini, but they didn't really better previous best by o1 though. Overall it was roughly:
o1-medium = o3-mini-high

but we also had o1-high and o1-pro both of which performed better than o3-mini when all said and done

so if we consider o4 to be only o4-mini for now, I wouldn't be so sure that's any better than o3, when we aren't talking about the price.

there are still some fundamental limitions with vision of LLMs yeah. They can't properly read arrows either when they are not like perfectly drawn straight and super simple

Understanding is different than replicating, I am not FULLY certain, but my best guess as to why you may be having trouble in recreating this exact shape with placement is because of it's 'off center' nature. The inital image you uploaded would not normally confine to a 'snap grid' in terms of design and is not symmetrical in any sense. Of course the model is processing this differently then how I am explaining it it, but essentially the model has to estimate the coordinates (if it even can) of where these geometries are. It's hard for a logic and reasoning model to produce results that are not curated through alignment principles and that are validated by math, leading to a very structured output with rules even when the goal is something abstract, which I would certainly label your inital image as.

When it comes to GPT's vision capabilities, they can be a hit or miss. In instances in which altered/generated content is manipulated to be false and is then given to the model for analysis, it can make mistakes. This would be a inherent biproduct of the model's training data. It is designed to be as truthful and accurate as possible, so when you confront it with an image or concept that defies it's prior training: in this instance: it's geographical knowledge, I am assuming mistakes and hallucinations would be more common. It's having difficulty interpreting it because it's just not quite used to seeing what you gave it. Remember, however SEEMINGLY sentient these technologies appear to be, in their current standing, they are NOT. (at least for now). Their responses are just calculations and aggregations of fed data. It picks out and sorts through pieces it KNOWS (or those that have a high probability of being what it thinks they are) and tries to do the best with what it doesn't.

I guess I am trying to figure out if it’s true intelligence or an overrated storage unit . But I don’t seek any of that stuff but when I asked it grab fragments from some sources and fabricated the rest and when I called it out it said it was hallucinating cause it didn’t have answer but came up with one just to keep engaging with me . I get you completely, entirely valid question. I just take it for granted because I’ve been somewhat familiar with how these models work shortly after their release. I’m in between episodes and it would take a lot to explain, so I’ll keep it brief. You should not trust anything ChatGPT says blindly. Unless you have enough nearby domain knowledge to verify important stuff just assume that it’s a very sophisticated prediction engine. If it doesn’t have training data and you ask a question that falls outside of training there is a high likelihood It will just make something up because it has to respond. It’s just the architecture. You have to get a feel for what is useful factual output coming out of the model. It is not some special intelligence that is an arbiter of truth. Start asking the model about its architecture. How llms work. They are unreliable in a narrowing, but still wide area of use cases. Don’t ever expect 100% accuracy and figure out where 95% accuracy is good enough and useful to you.
