And what I can only describe in laymens terms as logic gates mixed with the needed api infrastructure to run it. I mean China is pennies on the dollar for development costs as far as wages go. It's about 50% cheaper in terms of costs, but Deepseek if trained leanly would be at minimum a $10M JUST to START to train the model aside from infrastructure.

But add in you still have to add NLP on top of existing ML infrastructure, it's not cheap by any means. That's why they're 95% sure that China used OpenAI to train DeepSeek.

you will see all mesages in chat interface still, but that doesn't mean everything is being sent in full to the model 😉

Usually preserving them doesn't even make much sense anyway. If there were 20+ chat turns touching on varying topics, it will be extremely difficult for the model to effectively reference what happened in the very beginning with all of that attention shifting.

Idk why, but whenever I switch to pc after chatting and the beginning of a story on my phone, it ALWAYS uses the same scene that had already happen even though the new scene is completely different. it's already public since the terms say they train their models with it and can do whatever. Interestingly Anthropic swears they mostly do not do that, but OpenAI never said or stated that they don't. It's basically like Deepseek only in here only the private party gets to manage your chats. But the way the terms are presented and how they communicate it, they do what they want with it

if you want privacy you use API. Here they are only obliged to remove the most sensitive and very clearly identifying info from your chats before using it. I trust OpenAI enough to do it, but this is still far from the privacy you would get with API

Starting from the least private (the most exposed) I would rank them like this:

1. Deepseek website chat
2. Deepseek API
3. ChatGPT web ~= Gemini aistudio
4. Anthropic web ~= OpenAI API
5. Anthropic API
6. 3rd party open-source hosting reliable providers (Azure, DeepInfra, TogetherAI etc)

Anything in the top3 you shouldn't expect much privacy tbh. The saving grace is that they are unlikely to expose sensitive info (well Google or OpenAI at least), and in practice they will rarely use your data for training. But technically it is not secure

I believe it is relevant to me, as I want to know my usage limits for the different models I am paying for, and which ones to use for my workflow. From my understanding it is currently this:

Chatgpt Usage Limits:

80 messages every 3 hours on 4o
40 messages every 3 hours on 4

o3-mini 150/day
o3-mini-high 50/day (previously was 50/week)
o1 50/week (separate from o3-mini-high quota)

And then in quality it is O1 ~ o3-mini high > O3 -mini low > 4o ? I wish to know how much better the best models are, and how much I have of each so I know which to use

I can narrow my questions down though:

Confirmation that o1 in chatgpt window is o1 high (I am not pro user so I guess whatever o1 pro is don't really matter). And if the weaker o3 model is the medium or the low one (this is by far my most important question).

o1 is the smartest model overall and has canvas. o3 mini is the best for coding, math, and web search, 4o is the best for file analysis/editing/python math with canvas (it's the weakest model though)

you don't open benchmark eval dataset and start rewriting the questions with hints to make them easier - that is not prompt engineering

Point is that when you actually need something solved and don't know the correct answer like now, usually any hints like that are not possible. So you might not even know yourself that integer includes negative numbers etc

So finding a point where any given model "breaks" helps you to compare them and predict which is gonna work better for your practical use cases
