I opened a script of round about 1700 line of javascript code.
I asked Cursor to validate the script and check the right scopes and if everything what needs to be in a document ready block is placed there.

Cursor starts editing the whole script from start to the end.
At the beginning there was some green lines replacing red ones (mostly deleting comments) but later it just deletes huge red blocks of functions.
Is there anything you can imagine what i did wrong?

Some js code like direct callings on dom elements needs to be in a document ready block, that it just gets processed if the dom already loads the dom elements.
Other functions doesnt need to be inside of these blocks.
Additional if fixing these you have to watch for the scope, that you still can access the functions and variables on other places in the script.

For me its just a mess to analyze and read everything in the 1700 lines, its not very complicated but repetitive so i thought i can outsource this to ai 🙂

Sorry had to think about what you said. My code is flawless when I prompt because there are techniques to make it so. But if it goes over the number of tokens per request for context then yes it will comment out sections or omit details. My quickcoder.js script puts all the files into a Json file as a "session" and prefaces every request with the entire filesystem codebase

It can do at least a few thousands of lines without ommission

Also you must understand the correlation of the tech stack you are using and how each part handles the data because if you say put the web sockets in the design and push notify the server end database it will give you bogus code because what you said made no sense. But it will attempt to do it to the best of it's ability because it has a deep desire to answer any and all questions

You could also lead into it, as in the past, I've been able to get ChatGPT to create heavy R-level violent output for my own stories, before I eventually just started using the outputs as a skeleton to heavily rewrite around (which ostensibly can let the model not generate whatever offending output in the first place but still leave the story open for it). Similar deal with Claude. Sometimes they just need to get "softened up" first. Gemini was the only one where even if I did that and uploaded the story back to it, even the upload would get flagged for violent content and be unable to be continued.
Because otherwise, you have to go open source to get it to make such content out the gate

try to check the memory gpt keeps itself... write rules that ensure when you send a file, it knows to look for a prompt and recognize it.

it has been overfitted on it. Meaning, it has a very high preference of using bullet-points regardless of your input or what you say. I think overfitting used to be worse with earlier gpt4o versions though. You could try reinforcing it several times in custom instructions, or include it in the prompt/question itself as a last resort

It will think and then it's response will get content removed. But if it's framed as a hypothetical, it can engage with the prompt just fine. It just seems overly restrictive

I wouldn't say exp 1206 is "better" just because it beat lmsys. O1 is supposedly the best coding model, but it's only good in RL scenarios for debugging and harder more algo based work. Sonnet 3.5 is still the best to help with creative thinking / code architecture, and their tool use abilities are amazing and almost NEVER miss the tool structure in Cursor and Windsurf. I don't use 4o as much for those because it fails the actual tool call 2x more than 3 5

I’m really impressed with the capabilities of models like O1. Anything that can’t accurately count the number of characters in a story, for instance, can’t be taken too seriously.

I’m sure 4.5 will be really good, though. I want to see its writing capabilities really really badly. I remember how good 4 was to 3.5. Hopefully the jump will be as big or bigger.
