Only happened the first time my friend joined the multiplayer lobby: said he couldn’t pick up anything and then the game refused to allow him to choose any options in the lobby or the game. It got fixed by him leaving and entering the game again. I then did multiplayer with another friend and he didn’t have the issue at all, so it seems to be random.

Since it shouldn't happen in a picnic
And only the host can choose the map while in the camp
