I don't have problem moving from edge to comet for work usage but the problem is comet lacks the basic browser functionality.

Vertical tabs, saving pages on homepage, pinning tabs, grouping tabs together.

They just simply won't give comet those feature and think people will choose comet based on agentic task.

With the harsh limits on assistant I'm having trouble justifying use of the comet browser. I can achieve what they're marketing to me by just making a new tab open to perplexity.ai instead. Is there another reason to use the browser that I'm not taking into account?

I'm on Pro and haven't encountered usage limit messages, then again the only time I use agentic features is for web sites where it requires one to be logged in to interact with it. In these cases, start the agentic prompt with "control my browser and... " which (in most cases) it'll show a glowing blue border around the navigation area where it'll click on things and enter data into things and scrape data from places. Most other cases, I'm like you in that Perplexity.ai does the job just fine.

I'm finding it's just even opening the assistant tab and asking a few questions (we asked 3 questions our first day and saw the message urging upgrade to max). I assumed the usage was limited on the assistant tab and didn't think much of it.

The agentic stuff has been cool, but once I hit that message it doesn't seem to want to do anything outside of the perplexity.ai page

Not sure but I wouldn't hold your breath while waiting if you know what I mean. I'm not sure what kind of functionality is possible with Assistant on iOS at least given the way apps are sandboxed, how permissions work, etc.

it could be the subtlies (i.e. the phrase "Control my browser...", use of the word "strictly", giving it step numbers, giving it a specific Google Doc name, and so on..

It's kind of funny in that when it did pause it said something like "I see there's a 'Resume Comet Assistant' so I'll click that button to dismiss it" 🙂 but it couldn't resume itself.

Hello, might be a stupid question, but is it normal that when I ask Perplexity to perform an action with the agent, websites that it browses don't display images? Just as an example I asked it to search a supermarket for chicken thighs here (hungry). The lack of images makes it a little harder for me to take over once the action is finished

try adding the site to Comet setting's list of sites allowed to show ads, it might be mis-filtering the product images.

Thanks, 2 mins and I'll give that a go, but it does do this on all websites. If I open a site (like ASDA in my case) and browse it normally I can see the images. If I ask AI to take over and perform an action, I can still see images. If I ask it to perform an action from the search bar in comet and it opens ASDA itself, then it wont be able to see any images (from any site it opens). Hopefully that context helps

that's probably why, it's reducing what it needs to see to just process text. Try starting your prompt with "Control my browser and...." from the sidebar Assistant
