What is your use case? Some people were heavy upload users, some people were heavy deep research users (whether they needed it or not), and some people .. tried to use perplexity for multimedia generation (I'm guessing signing up in that use case was a mistake based on misreading/misunderstanding it relative to other services). Which applies to you? Or do you use it for something else like coding?

You're absolutely right! Using Perplexity for something that involves a lot of uploads may no longer be possible due to the new limits on the Pro plan. You might want to consider ChatGPT (which allows you to upload up to 80 files every 3 hours), or Gemini. Although uploads will consume more token usage on Gemini, it should still work out to more Flash Thinking usage (which is nearly as good as Gemini 3 Pro in many benchmarks).

Honestly, considering the political aspect of what you're working on... I would probably recommend something that allows comparative analysis, especially between models, to avoid biases. Perplexity is still decent for that, if you limit usage of reasoning models to about 200 per week, and allocate your Deep Research usage to only questions which are unsatisfactory on what you find from the other models. As long as your usage was not too high, I might recommend something like OpenRouter where you can select between many models, and carry a balance from month to month (your credits don't expire, so it's especially good for people who don't burn through $20 of usage every month). While models which support web search are still on OpenRouter, not every model will be able to be enriched with web search results though. For writing, I would normally recommend something like Claude, though you can achieve decent results on others as well as the personality and prompt is well thought out. 🤔

What makes you think a relative wishes you ill will, or would do something like that, and what specifically are you aware of that transpired? Just ditched PPLX for ChatGPT. Same price (£20 a month for Plus), same features, iOS app etc, something like max 30 file upload every few hours, job done. Now I’m using perplexity to help me get rid of perplexity by generating write-ups containing my memories, habits, hobbies, personal info etc.

To be honest shouldve went claude, they have Opus 4.6 which is way better than chatgpt. In my opinion however, Gemini has the most things you can pay for $20 and its just as good as Opus and Gpt 5.2
