My point was that you can use proxies, such as litellm, that has an OpenAI compatible API but under the hood uses perplexity API instead. That way, any tool that supports the OpenAI API can be pointed to your litellm proxy and you can use perplexity, gemini, claude, openai - whatever you want.

100%. I use it with everything, open-webui, n8n, my own coding projects. All models will be available and cost tracking is built into litellm.

Models will be named things like openai/gpt-4.1 or gemini/gemini-2.5-pro etc so you only need to change one line in your application or code to switch between all models you have API access to.
