gemini 2.5 pro has one of the lowest thinking coef. I saw, just bellow 3. sonnet has almost 7.5 . also google's TPUs are quite fast, on openrouter 120-190tokens per second. so it feels more like non-thinking model, because it is fast and needs over two times less thinking tokens.
also has lower base price, I wouldnt be surprised if running sonnet was like 4x more expensive than gemini 2.5 pro
plus I believe CoT is not sent via API at all. so from a perspective of pplx and users, gemini 2.5 pro is closer to non-thinking model
edit: by sonnet I mean thinking sonnet 3.7
