it’s likely that perplexity has too many users on claude at that moment and they just shipped you over to gpt4o hoping you wouldn’t notice

but do check on settings that you are set to claude of course

I wanted to stop in and say, Thank you for such a great platform. Although legal issues have a propensity as being a "gray area" of asking legal questions, to get the most accurate of information is the "garbage in, garbage out" rule of thumb. So I upload my states statutes, as well as all other relevant legal documents to ask Perplexity to reference. Then I proceed to ask it to draft a motion or a petition or any other legal document and it for the most part provides coherent and logical reasonble arguments in the output. As a Pro Se attorney this is SO HELPFUL!! So again THANK YOU.

Whats going on? perplexity pro is not using any paid AI LLM like gpt 4o,claude 3.5 sonnet etc. Perplexity pro is using only perplexity search engine and picks up answers for query from trash sources that shows up in internet search results. They dont even have a LLM AI that is trained on its own database. No matter which AI i select from setting it is always perplexity search engine answering. Now this is huge issue i am not getting anything i paid for.2nd i am getting wrong and fake info from propaganda, biased sites on internet. Now this Perplexity search engine is lying also,i asked which LLM AI you are i got answer i am Claude developed by perplexity pro .Now first i asks a query then i search internet for next 30 minutes to find out answer i got is reliable or not. This is clearly a scam and theft perplexity is taking money from me for premium services and not paying to those paid AI and we are getting wrong info from trash and propaganda sites on internet not anything from gpt 4o or Claude sonnet 3.5 LLM database they are trained on. Dont be fooled by small sign that shows which AI you are using just ask AI which LLM you are. And perplexity is deleting previous chats despite saving it in space library so we are not able to quote from wrong,biased,fake info we received from perplexity search engine. If i needed biased info from net then spend 30 minutes to find if info is authentic i would have used google search engine which is free instead of paying perplexity just for search engine. Moving from paid LLM AI to search results is scam to rip money from users without giving user any premium service which they charge for.

Honestly, there’s nothing better than ChatGPT Pro and the O1 Pro model. However, it’s quite an expensive luxury. It’s great to see Perplexity evolving, but if the context window remains as it is now, 32k, it won’t make a significant difference here. In ChatGPT Pro, the context window is at least 128k, which is much larger, and Gemini boasts an impressive 2M! Here, there will almost certainly be significant limitations on the use of o1, and o1 pro won’t be available at all since it’s currently exclusive to ChatGPT Pro. I completely understand these constraints though. Perplexity is incredibly attractive in terms of pricing. It could have huge appeal if it didn’t have the issues it does now, like with file handling, image generation and ongoing problems with RAG. Fingers crossed they address these! 💪

I use the o1 / o1 pro for working on texts, data analysis, and coding. At the moment, these models don’t have access to the internet or external sources of data, such as files (apart from image files). If Perplexity has solved your problem, that’s great, kudos to them! 😉 For now, I’m sticking with ChatGPT Pro. Yea, I suspected o1 reasoning model will be like opus, 10-20 daily uses replaced by o1 mini when it is available just like sonnet 3.5 replaced opus 3.0 in most cases except for creative stuff.

However, Aravind seem impressed with Gemini on their x account. I suspect pro search will benefit most from Gemini 2.0 reasoning flash model which is still cheaper and IIRC, on pair with Sonnet 3.5.

It's the reason why people could have different experience with the same model, where at some point they found some small model fit their need more than the bigger model because the small model being train and hit the data that they need.

An example of the LLMs: Claude 3 Opus was replaced by the more powerful Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
Llama models have been trained in house to be even better integrated into Perplexity, they are currently available as Sonar Large and Huge in Perplexity.
The "Reasoning" focus has been replaced by Pro Search with the new reasoning mode which automatically switches on when required.

I’m not sure if subscribing here makes sense right now. I canceled mine a while back. If you want access to Claude, it might be worth it—especially for Claude 3.5 Sonnet—but beyond that, Perplexity doesn’t offer much else. There are a lot of serious shortcomings we all know about, and Perplexity doesn’t seem to care. As for super-fast searching, ChatGPT can do that too, even in the free version. Deepseek also has pretty solid search capabilities and a really good model, and it’s free as well.

I’d like to support but for almost a year nothing’s changed here for better. The search is good but not as good as the Perplexity team want us to believe it is. Claude 3.5 Sonnet is an ok option as well but I decided to pay for ChatGPT pro now, it’s expensive, but o1 pro reasoning abilities are worth it - at least for now. I’m also awaiting DeepSeek v3 development - it’s going to be improved for sure. Not sure about Grok right now - I use it only for image generation. Most people however don’t need models with advanced coding abilities. For most of them many free alternatives would suffice I guess.

This is kinda how I feel to some extent, if you really like Claude 3.5 Sonnet this is a pretty good service to have extended access to it but in terms of trying to push the boundaries of "AI Search" their is stagnation in the Perplexity camp in the sense that models like o1 have increased reliability and that will be a necessary step moving forward what good is AI search if I have to spend 30 min fact checking the sources, there is a level of instability whilst using it.

Funfact: At least for me and when I tried it, Perplexity seems to be not so good at "telling jokes" and I like that. It makes him more human-like. Perplexity is my coding buddy, good at it, but throwing around the same few dad-jokes when asked. it searches multiple websites at the same time, gives you a summary of the findings to your question, and has links to the resources. pro just gives you more thorough results - better summary, more nuanced answers, and more websites searched.
