You'll only have to change the top hex value. If you want to use this on a chrome browser you can copy and paste the css to an extension like Stylus.

It seems to me that the bot has a few layers that help to improve the quality of its answers:

1. It seems like it has a curated list of “trusted” sites/resources that is willing to look at when trying to find information that might answer my question. It is unclear if they have pre-read these sources into something like a vector database. Note: The new Focus feature lets me explicitly constrain its answers to a specific site or dataset.
2. The tool is using special prompts, something akin to Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to use relevant snippets of the sources it found to constrain the generated answer and make it more factual.
3. Does Perplexity also have some secret sauce where they are evaluating/ranking the many sources found as relevant to answering my question in an attempt to find the “best” ones to use? That could be as either as what makes it into the provided RAG “context,” or as what gets cited inline within the answer generated.
   Does anyone have any insight into this?

Well, I just tried the new file upload option, and I have to say I’m disappointed.

I uploaded a PDF with the setting information for the Talislanta RPG, and then I asked the AI to come up with a dozen names for Sarista women, based on the examples from the text. First it said that there was nothing about the Sarista in the document. When I told it what chapter and where it was located, it then came back with a dozen names that were completely unrelated to the examples given, and were all variations of “Sarista” instead. When I actually copy-and-pasted the examples from the document, only THEN did it come up with a dozen valid names similar to the naming conventions… which means it understood the request, it just wasn’t able to parse the PDF.

Robots.txt if you don't know is a file that mentions which page can the web crawler access from the website. A lot of times when chatgpt 4 says reading content and then reading content failed, that is because robots.txt probably denied the web crawler permission to aceess the information

Hi, I’m not a frequent user of perplexity but as I use both gpt plus and perplexity pro I can tell you a few things that I found:

• perplexity is working on gpt API, so it’s the same “brains”. But I saw mentions from the devs that there is planned implementation of Claude 2 (but I’m not 100% sure).

• perplexity is very good at browsing internet. It’s fast and capable of searching with different requests and looking in a lot of sources.

• copilot is a pretty interesting and useful thing, but sometimes it is hard to prompt it right so it can ask you to solve your original question.

• it’s not that good at working as a chat bot and to generate plain text (but it can be prompt issue on my side)

Overall I use perplexity as an internet searcher and chatgpt as a writer.
Unfortunately I’m not using AI for coding so can’t say anything about it.

Hello, I have uploaded a file where the content of this file is a summary in the form of essay questions and their answers. I pasted one of the questions into the perplexity.ai chat and the answer was correct. Then I tried pasting other questions from the file's content and the responses were incorrect and unrelated to the file's content. Then I tried uploading other files but I couldn't do that because I haven't upgraded to Pro yet. Why did I only get one correct answer and incorrect answers from outside my file's content? This makes me decide not to upgrade to Pro, and why isn't there another chance to try with other files before upgrading to Pro?
