I'm Todd B. Todd A., who helped me when I was starting graduate school at the U. of Wisconsin, is one of the world's experts at cybersecurity. We both worked at Wisconsin and Intel Labs.

I did my MSEE in machine learning and computer vision in the early 1990s.

I did robots research for NASA. 🚀

I did computer architecture work for Stanford, the University of Wisconsin, and MIPS Technologies.

I've worked as the first software engineer and one of the first electrical engineers at successful startups.

The only unsuccessful company I ever worked for was started by someone whose textbook I have contributed to and who is extremely important in Silicon Valley.

I do not like working in policy, but we occasionally have to get involved in politics. It is one of life's evils, like taxes and death. 💸

Hi all, I'm a Perplexity Pro user from Maine, USA. I've been a light user of local open-source LLMs using LM Studio, Koboldcpp and Ollama, as well as free and pro versions of Copilot, and Gemini. I've been attempting to learn coding with AI to mixed results, well mixed is a bit generous. What model(s) would you recommend for start to finish app building in Perplexity Pro. I'll admit that I need to take a step back, define the goal and work with the LLM rather than come in with a preconceived approach. As a builder I always thought customers should consult with a builder before the plans go too far, because often the house tells you the best way to plan a renovation or you can achieve similar results with a much lower budget. Far too often, flush with cash, an architect would be the first call and the budget would be blown before the first nail was driven.

just a user from GER here. Using Perplexity mostly for research, much of it being ITsec centric (get statistics, generate overviews, produce a spreadsheet, crawl tools), but also privater stuff to get complex answers quicker. Very interested in comet and got an invite from Perplexity, but it doesn't let me use it with my E-mail, because "my organisation" didn't allow me to use it. After looking for the settings, I saw the discord connection and got here! Always interesting to witness early stages. Cheers!
