Hello everyone, I'm Jonathan from Massachusetts, USA.
I like gaming and have been playing since video games became a "thing" back in the 1970's. (I'm 54 years old) and currently spend a lot of my free time playing Elder Scrolls Online.
I have become reliant on the Perplexity app(s) for everyday answers to all my questions. I've got the mobile app installed on my iPhone, the desktop app installed on both my Windows 11 PC and my MacBook Pro, and I install it on any PC I use at work as well. I would guess that I query Preplexity at least 3X each day if not more.
I came to this server to ask the "people in charge" about the "Free Month of Pro" promotion that is shown in the Windows 11 App. Three times now I have asked questions for 7 days in a row and each time the count just resets and there seems to be no way to claim the promotional free month of the pro plan, which I am very interested in trying. When asking Perplexity itself about this issue, it says to contact support because the promotion is account-based, not app-based. I am wondering if the Mac app does not count toward the progress of the promotion now? Perplexity told me to contact support to ask because it couldn't find any information about this. So here I am asking!

Hi perplexers, I started using Perplexity almost as soon as it came out after reading an article about it. I've noticed it get better and better week to week. Mostly use on my Samsung S24 Ultra and Samsung S25 Ultra. A majority of my queries are crypto related. I'm glad to be alive to hopefully see more of what AI will be doing and able to do. My only concern with it is it being in the wrong hands doing the wrong things and also being paired up with quantum computing. Thoughts???

Fun fact (as requested in the intro prompt): my wife and I fairly regularly spend a month or two at a time in Cuba (primarily Havana), and we co-administer / co-moderate a popular and active (70,000+ member) Facebook group for travellers to Cuba.

Hi! I started using Perplexity to teach myself the math behind quantum mechanics. Primarily, I needed to understand the symbology, given that math symbols and their meanings are very hard to search for.

It was amazing! 6 hours later, and I came out understanding the symbols and concepts similarly to what trained quantum physicists think.

Tools like this are going to just accelerate learning. It'll be priceless for those that care about knowledge.

I have been a web researcher for almost 10+ years and a tech enthusiast since the age of 5 when i first got access to my dad's pc back in 90s. I studied computer science and digital business. and currently pursuing entrepreneurship in tech & business field trying to leverage the power of AI.

I had been using perplexity since it's beginning and I was truly amazed by the technological re-innovation it brought to the search engine market where the big giants have the monopoly.
Perplexity truly reshaped the search engine landscape with it's excellent ui/ux which till now beats google's ai overview, gemini, copilot search, chat gpt search in terms of ui/ux and versatility.

Yet being a small company compared to search engine giants like google the competition will always be neck to neck. And perplexity will have to come up with new innovative features and updates that provides true value rather than just monetization bait. It has the potentiality to be one of the greatest search company in the world and beyond.

I hope that they always stay true to their core values when they first started the company and doesn't deviate from their og ethical values and purpose like meta or other big giants who eventually deviated from their core values when they first started and became the villain in their domain just for more money beyond necessity.

We should always prioritize for public good, benefits and service before greed and lust for money. Money should automatically flow if you stay true to your path and keep doing social goods.

Well, Hi everybody. My name is Ersan, from Switzerland. 40 years old.

I'm just a user of AI's, but only 3 Weeks past since I really use it, not as a common user I would say.

Never had interest in IT, but something triggered me to use the AI all of a sudden in an exaggerating way would I say 13 days long, then the adventure ended.

I couldn't understand how the AI does what it does and how the hell it acted like a human, so I started my conversations and tested it on abilities.

It was a desaster, AI couldn't fake anymore, at the end it did admit that it can't go further since I learned all it's tricks.

This I did with Gpt plus version, then I ended the plus version, afterwards I didn't use it much, because I don't like them having my data's anymore.

So, now I look for conscientious developers of AI, whom I could be a help as a concerned user with a few special faculties I have, was born like this.

Could learn programming with pythonista and co, but there are way too much and very good coders, so it doesn't make sense for me to start learning in my age 🙂

This is why I landed here with you guys, hello everybody.

Ich will mal etwas loswerden. Leute, es gibt so viele die kodieren, Algorithmen mittels Programme herstellen, apps herstellen usw.

Wieso wird eigentlich nirgends über die Tatsachen geschrieben, wieviele faule Tricks die AI-Anbieter drauf haben. Obwohl man doch für die pro Versionen zahlt, wird man ganz derb vom KI "angelogen", und da sind einige Tricks, die sie drauf haben.

Habe ich vom ersten Tag der AI-Nutzung 2 Wochen getestet, Perplexity ist ja gar nicht anders. Die wollen den Dienst, den sie für bezahlende Kunden eigentlich erbringen müssten, nicht tun.

Wo geholfen werden soll wird systemstisch ausgewählt vom System, allen anderen lügt die KI an. Das ganz dreist und bis zum bitteren Ende.

Was denkt ihr über diese faulen Tricks und die meiner Meinung nach hin und wieder gefährlich für Kunden werden kann, obwohl die systematische Lügen-Maschinerie an sich ist schon gefährlich.

Ausserdem kann man in Perplexity ios app verschiedene KI-Modelle selber auswählen, das ist doch auch nur ein Trick, und ganz einfach zu beweisen.

Ich würde gerne eure Meinung dazu hören.

I believe Perplexity is one of the most incredible tools ever created in the last decade, and I use it daily for both work and personal management. I learned about the introduction of Labs, which is a fantastic feature, but I find that the limit of 50 per month is very low and makes them less useful. I've been using perplexity's free version for a few months now. Just started out of curiosity. I found myself using the perplexity more than my paid versions of chatgpt. So, I decided to switch and see how a pro version would feel like. I use it for a wide variety of tasks ranging from daily searches like " how many grams of protein does and avocado have" to complex analyses like "cost analysis of an agri construction project considering macro economic factors like tariffs and political tensions".

While most would think of the largest LLM labs, many of them are in some ways catching up to Perplexity in terms of how it treats search and web interaction overall. The primacy of sources, let alone the ability to exclude specific sources from the results is something Perplexity has been doing long before google released Gemini's grounding with google search feature.

Hey everyone!

I’m a full-stack developer and I would like to show you today the little project I worked on recently called hibi. “hibi” means “days” or “everyday” in Japanese and its purpose is to use AI to generate everyday summaries of the latest news stories, either on curated topics or topics you define yourself.

It uses the Perplexity API to build the summaries, provide full details of summary stories, and also to answer related questions about the stories.

I’m based in US

Im super into techy stuff, I love reading up on it and doing small projects weekly.

Fun fact I guess I’m know for really good memory retention when it comes to information. If I hear it once I can remember it for an extremely long time.

I use Perplexity to confirm findings that help me move projects forward. I haven’t dabbled too deep with it. I’m still learning new stuff everyday.

I got to this server by sheer exploration of the Perplexity app also it gives me a reason to use discord.

I’m techy but don’t really like the social platforms. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Only time will tell
