#Livius - Crashing Issue
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Just adding a third voice in here, one thing i notice is you seem to have only 2GB swap memory, which can cause loading issues.
There seems to be something up with the shader pipeline.
Since the Enshrouded Toolfix already deleted your Shader cache and you already reinstalled the drivers, I would say check to make sure your GPU isn't overclocked.
You have enough memory from what I can see, and your GPU shouldn't be running out of VRAM unless you are running something else that might be eating it up
Thanks. I use no overclocking on my PC.
hmm.
Should I try lowering settings in my enshrouded_local.json ?
Before we do that, lets manually reinstall Vulkan to see if that helps
head to https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home and download the vulkan runtile installer for windows and install it. when done, restart your computer then try again

Vulkan install done. No change.
OK, after a few more tries: I'm at the menu and "compiling shaders 6%"
And now it crashed.
But hey -- that's improvment! ๐
@lone totem Have you guys seen this error before - I haven't and I now have two people with it
@proper lark can you do me a favor and also put your log file in here? You two are both having a similar pipeline error
@sullen valleyThank you
I know the QA peeps are quite busy right now, so it may be a while before they get back to us - but yeah it's an error I am unfamiliar with, and seeing two within the same timeframe is strange
OK, many thanks for your help, @marsh comet and @sullen valley . Iโll wait for the QA folks.
Yes. Thanks all for the help. Much appreciated.
We have released a new update with a number of bug fixes. Please update your game and check if your problem still occurs. If this is the case, please let us know.
Improved -- but still the same basic problem: game closes during launch before reaching the menu, or shortly after reaching the menu, or freezes and requires forced reboot. But I say "improved", because previously, when it reached the menu (briefly) and started "compiling shaders", I got to 9%. After the patch, with repeated tries, I'm currently at 35%. It advances a few percent each time.
Curiously, this is the same problem I had on Day 1, that the game closed/crashed/froze during "compiling shaders". But each restart, it advanced further, and then after all shaders compiled, the game ran perfectly stable. I also had to go through this when I updated my graphic driver. I found it a nuisance, but didn't much care, because eventually, the game ran.
Right now, same effect, but it's advancing only 1-2% each time -- that is: each time I don't crash before getting to the menu. ๐
Oooh k. After doing the above repeatedly off-and-on for the last seven hours, I managed to get 100% shaders compiled. And I'm in the game. And it looks good so far -- I'll confirm later if it remains stable.
But gosh, I hate to think about going through that "compile shaders" process the next time I update a graphics driver. ๐ฎ
1.5 hours stable. Looks like I'm good after getting past "compiling shaders". It seems that my real problem is the "Day 1" issue I described above, but that the 13 May patch made it much worse.
Im currently facing the same issue. I had to do this with the last patch but it way worse now.
Same as @prisma reef. I can only get a few percent then it crashes
Does it stay stable if you alt-tab out and keep the focus off the game?
@marsh cometjust tried. It does the same thing. Ive just been relaunching and slowly letting the shaders get back to 100%. Im wondering if it had something to with the i9 intel chip, but enshrouded is the only game that gives me this issue so maybe not.
Honestly I don't know. More than several people have had this issue and they all seem to be slightly different.
As a result of today's patch, I'm happy to report that the problem is solved well enough, even if not completely and I'm happy ! ๐ The "Day 1" problem is still there, but thanks to this patch, the "compile shaders" process went more quickly than it ever did, taking less than half an hour for me to be able to play the game. The game auto-closed several times during the shader-compiling, requiring me to restart it, but never did it hang or require a forced reboot.
Thanks so much!
I am glad it's working better ๐
Another Patch Day! Another "Oh damn, what have you done this time?!"
I'm OK now. All is well! But you gave me quite a scare getting there.
For about the first 12 tries, the game just closed before getting to menu. On the last one, it rebooted my PC.
But I kept trying, and eventually, I got to menu and "compile shaders" started. It closed a few times, but I kept trying, and it eventually compiled and I'm able to play the game again.
I just live for Patch Day! ๐
so maybe I just need to keep trying to get in all I am getting is the black screen and big white box
ok just restarted computer and suddenly got to the menu and just waiting for compiling of shaders to finish. derp
๐
I continue to live for Patch Day! ๐
I started the game, got to menu, and Compile Shaders was done in less than a minute. But the game informed me that I needed to update my graphics driver. So I did.
I then had 17 failed attempts to start the game. None of the attempts made it to the menu. 11 of them simply closed the game. Two of them gave me a crash window and invited me to upload the dump. (I did. Have fun with that, hehe). Four attempts resulted in dark screen and PC lockup, which required a power cycle to resolve.
On Attempt #18, I got to the Menu, and Compile Shaders did its thing -- all the way to 100% in one go! That's never happened. Every other time, it hung up and required several game restarts to get to 100%. Well, not quite true -- it hung at exactly 100%, which required a game restart.
On Attempt #19, everything was grand and I'm in game!
...
Have I mentioned before how I live for Patch Day? ๐
Im happy for you all. Enjoy the game. Just returned from vacation hoping for a change. It seems to have gotten worse. Can't even get to the load screen. Ive uninstalled and cancelled my server subscription. I will remain hopeful this game one day works again for me, maybe at full release.
