@wraith sentinel I am going to move this in here as most of the info you have provided is lost to the hundreds of comments above.
Can you explain to me what is happening, when you are crashing, and whether you have done both the pinned comments as well as the /minidump fixes?
OH RIGHT. the linux thing. I remember
Sure thanks! I appreciate the help and am not expecting a magic fix nor any linux specific knowledge. Let's keep the conversation on the basics like more logging somewhere, a setting I might have missed etc.
The silent failure is the most concerning to me. All I'm doing is logging in.
Is your anti aliasing (whatever it's set to) on balanced or below?
eh. it's not as uncommon as you might think to have no crash notification
see my problem is, when running it like this I don't even know if you are supposed to update vulkan for Linux or for windows xD
No it's very much a vendor specific thing
I mean I would imagine Linux, but...
So I checked my driver. If it is a proton issue I can try to look around a bit more outside. I just wanted to be absolutely sure before doing that.
yeah those settings pretty much take care of any of the pinned comment issues
If there's no enshrouded specific way of getting out more logs or people have seen silent failures then there's only so much you can do here ๐ I just wanted to come back and say "yes I plugged it in"
out of curiosity, I see you are joining a game. Do you have this issue when you just play single player?
I never tried. I've always played server. I can check though.
The server is the one I'm running locally.
It might narrow down where to look.
If you can start up a solo world fine, the issues are probably somewhere in the networking/connecting side of things
Ok I'll look around in the linux bubble a bit. It might be a proton issue somewhere. If I find anyting I'll post in case you run in to any steam deck users.
Perfect, thanks ๐
Sorry you are going through this
agibsonccc - Crashing Issue (Proton/Linux)
Have you tried running with a 16:9 ratio?
I'm running in windowed mode now. I know sometimes full resolution can cause crashes.
@ebon swan proton 9.x seems to work at least I was able to load. No guarantees on everything else yet but if anyone else comes through like me tell them to play with the proton version.
Nice! let me know if it continues to work ๐
It also loads on max settings for me with everything enabled.
I'll consider this one semi resolved. I'm happy to help anyone else that comes through like me if they play on a steam deck or something.
Nice find!
Played a bit yesterday. Can confirm no issues.
