Okay I am gonna toss this in a thread. Probably should have done that hours ago. ๐Ÿคฃ

#

so to summarize for the thread, You are having fps drops during the day and at night and only getting relief from them at sunrise or sunset.

elder pivot
#

yeah, and its only when outside, very specific area's like inside towers, and the top of the towers. but if I get the sun on the screen at all my FPS plummets

  • Vulkan version current
  • Drivers Current

Yeah

light shore
#

I forget - did we already have you turn off your Integrated GPU?

elder pivot
#

Its not, off but its also never been in use ever. Im not even sure I can access it unless the game would allow me to pick between them

#

This is the IGPU

light shore
#

though I would expect it to crash not just give you low fps if it were.

elder pivot
#

I have Lighting and Shadows as low as they can possibly go in this image, and still 45 fps cap

light shore
#

Windows can override the API anytime it wants too. it's annoying xD

#

So what monitoring software are you using right now?

elder pivot
#

HWMonitor and Task Manager, because sometimes Task Manager likes to lie

light shore
#

I am not too familiar with HWMonitor, but I assume it has all the sensors, like temperatures and loads for your CPU, GPU and ram?

elder pivot
light shore
#

Temps and loads seem fine?

elder pivot
#

GPU is under high load but thats normal, CPU is having no issues, actually running below 70C right now

light shore
#

Okay - what are your windows power settings at right now?

elder pivot
#

Should be for Maximum Performance, but I will double check

light shore
#

Okay and just to be sure - what's the refresh rate on your monitor set to?

elder pivot
#

165hz is what my the monitor I game on is set to

#

I rarely have a game that can hit it though

light shore
#

Is the secondary monitor also set up correctly - It's weird, but it can sometimes effect FPS.

elder pivot
#

Yes, I had to go in and set all of them because when I first got them they werent configured right

light shore
#

okay - the next thing I would do is disable all your overlays, including Nvidia, Steam and Discord.

#

I know you'll lose your FPS monitor, but I am pretty sure you'll be able to tell if there is still an issue

elder pivot
#

This is the extent of the issue at night, from 90 to 48 just by having the moon on screen

#

Okay im disabling overlays

#

Shaders are compiling again, but it does feel like the issue has persisted, but the sun is rising so I can test it here in a second

light shore
#

the shaders are compiling every time?

elder pivot
#

Yes, and the fps is the same for sure, I can see the drop hit, the smoothness is gone

light shore
#

Disabling the overlays shouldn't make anything look worse.

#

the overlays themselves don't make any direct settings changes

elder pivot
light shore
#

oh! ๐Ÿ˜„ sorry

#

okay lets try some other things then.
If you want you can turn your nvidia one back on, but I would keep steam and discord off unless you specifically use their features

elder pivot
light shore
#

letsee... another AMD card. I wish I paid more attention to these. lol. I haven't had one since... well let's just say it's been a long time.

#

Can you go into your GPU's control panel (adrenaline I think it's called?)

elder pivot
#

I have an Nvidia card though?

light shore
#

wait what? xD

#

one sec

#

FFS... it's been a day, sorry. I have mainly been alone in the chanel all day ๐Ÿ˜„

#

Okay - make sure your game is closed - go into your NVIDIA control panel ๐Ÿคฃ and click on "3D settings" and in the program settings tab, select enshrouded.

Turn "Anisotropic filtering" off
Under Power Management Mode - Turn to "prefer maximum performance"
and Turn "Texture Filtering - Quality" to let's say one lower than whatever it is now.

elder pivot
#

Alright, booting back up now

#

Shaders are compiling FPS doesnt appear to have changed, but I'll wait until its done compiling

#

This is new, ive got lines on the ground

#

Yeah at certain camera angles these lines are visible on the terrain, fps is the same

light shore
#

yeah - that's probably the Anisotropic filtering being off

#

It basically smooths over stuff at angles.

elder pivot
#

I think I can see the shadows moving, or the lines belonging to the fog vfx

#

These are sliding across the ground at set intervals like every second

light shore
#

okay so we won't leave Anisotropic Filtering off no matter what. ๐Ÿ˜‰

#

you can go ahead and reset the settings if they didn't work. you can just hit "restore" but make sure the game is closed. Any changes will probably crash the game

#

I'd probably keep the power management mode on max performance though.

elder pivot
#

Thats actually my Global Setting

light shore
#

Okay I am down to my last option in my playbook. lol - Turning off Windows game mode.

elder pivot
#

The new update does seem have changed how some of the rendering works though, I wonder if thats the source of the issues, because the Sun and Moon were not issues 2 days ago

light shore
#

hmm... it's usually on by default. Maybe try turning it on. It usually doesn't have too much effect on higher-end systems, but it can twiddle some priorities around that might have an effect

light shore
#

Other than that - it's just going in and trying to find whatever windows-bloat background processes you might have running, or things like shadowplay and other stuff that could be running in the background and causing issues.

elder pivot
#

I notice that when the sun goes into this phase where its not completely invisible behind the blinding light, is when my FPS starts increasing and then as it approaches night my FPS starts dropping again, its like a brief moment of rest

#

I didnt notice any changes with Game Mode on

light shore
# elder pivot I didnt notice any changes with Game Mode on

Yeah, unfortunately I think this might have something to do with the shaders loading themselves. at least 2 other people with it have mentioned taking performance hits. I have informed the QA team about it, hopefully they can find what I couldn't.
