Okay without knowing what that error is, we can try a few other generic things, but honestly they are a shot in the dark - I may have to end up forwarding this on to keen's QA people.

Let's start by making sure vulkan actually reinstalled correctly. head to https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home and download the vulkan runtime installer for windows and install that.

Also, just to be sure - are you using any kind of mods or a third party utility, like reshade or anything that is running along-side or with the game in any way?

no mods, all overlays turned off (nvidia, steam, stc). I even exit out of chrome before turning on the game. I'm 99% confident that this is not a problem of the computer maxing out performance wise. Its gotta be a strange set of circumstances at this point.

Okay, go ahead and run the game and see if it's still crashing. Let me know either way, but if it is, we can try some other things.

Actually basically at this point, the generic fixes would be to download and run GPU-Z while running the game and seeing if there is anything in there that looks concerning, reinstalling the game after clearing out steam's download cache (an important step if your download got corrupted), and rolling back your GPU to a previous version.

been running for about an hour... so far so good. way better than the 5 minutes I was getting before. I will try the other steps next if it continues to crash.
