#Captain Mrrgglllggll - Crashing

- Before creating thread, had them put all graphics to "max performance" to no avail.
@analog schooner - could you please put the most recent log file in here for me please.
- System Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16gb System Memory, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (driver - 566.36)
Did you follow that video that told you to play in Window 8 compatability mode?
yes run as admin and compatibily W8 mode
i have same issue with another GC, a nvidia geforce gtx 1070
Yeah. don't do that. lol. There is absolutely no reason to play the game in a windows mode that the game doesn't support.
ok i uncheck this
๐
but before i check game crashes too
Not sure what that person was thinking, but even the people in their comments were complaining at them. ๐คฃ
Oh I get that. ๐ It's just I won't know if a fix works if it's crashing also because of that.
okay so, unlike most logs, your neither shuts down nor does it give the generic "gpu crash" message that it does on most. It just ends.
I am seeing a little bit of extra system memory usage before launching the game, but nothing too concerning that would make me think a new game would crash immediately.
When you ran LiAnDrY's Enshrouded toolfix, did a window from vulkan pop up asking you to install the software?
right, it will say that, but if an install window didn't pop up from vulkan it may not have installed, so I wanted to be sure.
And I just want to be sure. The world you are loading into is new/newish?
yeah it's a fresh, i rush the violet marker, kill this boss and crashing after this
i crash on friend's world too
okay, and did you just get the game and have had the issue from the start, or were you playing before without issue?
from the start but it's completely random i can play 1hour like i can play only 2 min before crashing
okay. so lets see if we can't figure out why this is happening.
Can you go download GPU-Z and install it if you don't have it already. Go ahead and start it up and click on the "sensors" tab. Expand that window to show as much as you can from that list and keep it running.
Take a screenshot of what it shows before you start up the game and post it in here.
Go ahead and then start up the game and play until the game crashes. Take another screenshot of that screen when it crashes.
This will tell us if there are any memory issues or see if there might be any other hardware issues.
yeah. I am not seeing anything in there that would point to a memory issue. Your system memory and VRAM are both steady and no where near capped. Your temperatures are running fine, and everything looks quite steady.
So with that being eliminated as a cause, we are looking at something software related. Either something with the game install, some other software is interacting with it or something is up with your driver install itself.
Did you already turn off all your game overlays, like steam, discord and NVidia? If not I would do that now.
If that doesn't fix the issue we are looking at possibly having to roll back your drivers to a previous version, like maybe 566.03.
After that we are looking at possibly having to reinstall the game after clearing steam's download cache, and after that it's going through and disabling all your other programs on startup, restarting your system and then seeing if that fixes it.
all overlays are turn off yeah
thanks for helping i need to afk a bit, but i will try to roll back graphic drivers when i come back
okay sounds good. Let me know what happens either way
i'm back, i have rollback GPU driver to 566.03. Should I test the game now or should I reinstall it first?
I would test first.
Okay. you can go ahead and reinstall the most current version.
Out of curiosity, what is the drive you are putting the game on? Is it an SSD, and is it the same one as steam is installed on?
SSD same as steam and windows install
Okay good.
I wanna try one more thing before we go full reinstall, if you don't mind?
ok ๐
Is your steam cloudsave off or on?
cloud is on
okay. can you do me a favor and navigate to ..\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[YourSteamID]\1203620\remote (YourSteamID is your unique Steam ID number) and copy all the files that are there over to the directory located here: ..\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Enshrouded
Make sure to use copy, not move so that the files are in both locations.
When you have done that, let me know.
This might give a little bit of trouble so we want to be sure to have all the files in both locations. You may also want to make a copy and put them in a folder on your desktop just to be sure.
like this ?
Okay that looks perfect. Here's to hoping the game behaves, otherwise it'll be a little more work ๐
Make sure you are not in the game then go ahead and right click on "Enshrouded" in your steam library list and go to properties. Where is says "Keep game's saves in the steam cloud for Enshrouded" turn it off then load the game.
Let me know if your character or world is missing
characters and worlds are still there
okay go ahead and start it up and see if you are still crashing
ok let's go
๐คฃ
ok ๐
So let's go ahead and try a reinstall. So go ahead and uninstall the game from steam. Once you have completed go into Steam settings > Downloads and click "Clear download cache"
Once you have done that, do a full restart of your system to clear what we can out of any memory.
Once you load back in, redownload and install the game.
Once installed, go ahead and rename that json you renamed before, just to be certain.
...Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\enshrouded_local.json - If it's not there, that's okay, just skip that part.
Once all that is done, start up your game, go into your graphics settings and set the graphics profile to "performance" close the game and restart it (the game) again.
THEN ๐คฃ (sorry a lot of steps) go ahead and start up your game and jump into your world.
all steps done and still crashing ๐ฆ
okay... the last thing I can think of is that there might be some software running that might be interfering with the game. Problem is, It could pretty much be anything. ๐
Can you do me a favor and open up task manager click on Startup apps and take a screenshot of everything listed in there?
Jeeze, there is nothing in there ๐คฃ
yeah it's a fresh install of today ๐คฃ
a fresh install of windows? Were you having issues with your computer before?
yeah i clean install windows for testing to install enshrouded on main disk
Sorry, were you playing enshrouded and it was crashing, then you reinstalled windows to test?
yes
the game was in E drive and windows+steam on C drive but not enought space for install enshrouded on C drive then i reinstall windows
Sorry I went quiet for quite a bit there. I'm at a loss as to what this could be. You have basically nothing running, we tested out different drivers, you reinstalled windows, the game, and went through all the other steps in the minidump DM. From what I can tell it should be running without issue.
Can you do me a favor and zip up your crash dumps folder located here: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\crash-dumps\ and post it in this thread. I am going to forward it on the the QA team over at keen so they can take a look at it when they get back from their holiday.
Hello, thanks for the help and thanks for your time, this is my crash dump folder. it is almost empty due to the reinstallation of the game
Thanks! I sent them a message, and they should get it when they get back and look into it. If they have any questions or suggestions they will respond in here.
Hello,
I'm back to give some news following the latest updates of the game.
Unfortunately the game still crashes. If you want my latest logs, I can send them to you.
Hey - Just to make sure they have gotten all the information they need, could you please file a bug report and include your log, save file and DxDiag in the report?
