#Liime - Crashing
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hey @urban pumice - I am going to make this into a thread so stuff doesn't get lost in all the conversation as it has been. Can you do me a favor and Zip up your crash dump folder and put it in here so that I can have a look at them?
CRASH DUMP FOLDER:
- Open your file explorer
- Navigate to your Steam folder, by default, it should be in C:\Program Files.
- Find the following folder:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\crash_dumps - Zip up the contents of that folder and drop it in this chat
Just putting a list of everything that's already been talked about and tried so it's easy to access.
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6800K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 32gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, Windows 10
- Log shows updated Vulkan and current GPU Drivers
- Log also shows multiple
[graphics] Failed to allocate download buffer memory.before joining game, DuringInitialize 'SyncCharacterSaveGame' done - Session description has
ping 9,223,372,036,854 ms - failed with generic
[graphics] vkWaitForFences() failed with error 'VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST'message - Playing on multiplayer
- Completed /minidump fixes except DDU.
- Only played for 6-8 hours.
- Crashing in base or by first bridge
- Playing at native resolution of 1920x1080
- Discord and steam overlays disabled.
- Ran in compatibility mode for windows 8
- GPU not overclocked
- GPU-Z shows capped memory clock, otherwise unremarkable. Second crash shows memory clock not capped.
Okay so now that is out of the way and all in one place. I had asked a few questions the other day. So I know where we are can you tell me whether you did all of them/the answers?
- When you ran the enshrouded toolfix did you get a pop-up outside the window from vulkan for a reinstall?
- Does the issue occure in solo as well as multiplayer?
- Did you close all software that is not required to run windows or the game?
- Did you try reinstalling the game after clearing steam's download cache?
@urban pumice I am just making sure you saw this.
Il give you the zip later when im on the pc but i did not get a pop up from vulcan, installed the runtime vulkan thst someone mentioned earlier, occurs on solo world aswell and have reinstalled after clearing the dl cache
Okay so you manually installed Vulkan and it's happening everywhere. give me a second to look through your logs
yeah i followed the steps u told me earlier with manualy installing the runtime file
okay. Can you go into the game menu and go into settings and turn DLSS off for me and see if that changes anything?
will do, just reinstalling it xD, gave up all hope yesterday and uninstalled
Change it to FSR3
yeah
aok il give it a try
seems more stable but wont know for sure until later, cus gotta start the xmas dinner, thanks for your time today, il msg u with any update on it later on when i have tested it further
Sounds good! Merry Christmas!
It's just loading the shaders into the game, basically. When Shader Pre-cacing is off it does that when you start up a game
ok so it might crash when that reaches 100% then xD
merry christmas, il msg u whenever ive done more testing ๐ apriciate u taking ur time to troubleshoot my issues
Did you up your graphics at all, or is it still on max performance?
I havent touched the graphics settings, but it ran for a good hour after the initial crash aswell, il send pics of my settings later and u can chek em for me to see if theres anything i can change
It's okay. If they are at Max Performance is all good. Just trying to think of anything else it could be.
Change the quality preset to "Max Performance" and see if you still have issues. If it works without crashing you can start to up settings one-by-one, but you have some settings on there much higher than your GPU should be able to handle.
[E 00:01:30,849] [graphics] vkWaitForFences() failed with error 'VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST'
[E 00:01:30,849] [graphics] Vulkan device lost...
[I 00:01:30,849] [DeviceFaultEXT]
keeps crashing tbh i have it on max preformance now
Honestly I am at a bit of a loss here. The only thing I can think of is that something running on your system is interfering with the game in some way... Unfortunately there is no way I could really walk you through that - it's basically a "shut everything off and turn things on one-by-one" situation.
theres basicly nothing running but discord, and kinda need it to play multiplayer xD, but it runs fine for an hour or 2 then suddenly crashes so i guess its fine for now, idk what the issue could be but i know my gpu have had issues with vulkan games before
Have you manually reinstalled vulkan run time, either through Liandry's tool (a pop up would have come up) or yourself by going to their site?
i have manualy installed it and i havent used liandrys tool after, should i try that? cus i didnt get a popup when i ran it
It can't hurt to run it again, but it likely won't do anything more. And sorry, I forgot if I already asked, did you already turn off the overlays for steam, discord and nvidia?
not for steam i think, but disc and nvidia yes
I would turn off steam's as well just to be safe.
As I am reading back, I see you haven't done the 4th step in the minidump DM, the driver fresh install with DDU. Have you since tried that?
i reinstalled the gpu yes
sorry just to be clear, you mean the driver?
yes ofc ^^
okay. You'd be surprised the things I have seen, so I just wanted to make sure
yeh no i didnt rip it out to put it back in xD
I had you turn your antialiasing to FSR3, did I have you try turning it off completely?
no but i have tryed that before, it looked terrible and i think it may have caused more problems than sulotions
or is it possible, i could give it a try and test it, i can tbh play for about 1-2 hours before it suddenly crashes
and should nvidia settings be set to on+boost or?
okay. so your log is filled with [graphics] Failed to allocate download buffer memory. errors, a lot of them - which suggests that it's having issues with either your VRAM or your system memory. Problem is, you are also joining a multiplayer world in the log, and it can sometimes be caused by a bad connection.
Can you do me a favor and start a solo game and when it crashes put that log in this chat?
I would turn that off just to be safe.
the "multiplayer" is on the same network tbh, i can start a singleplayer world and let it run and see if it crashes when im eating dinner
well that went fast tbh
Everything is still closed except discord, steam and the game?
yep
It's using quite a bit of ram even before starting the game. More than just discord, steam and windows should be using. You still have enough system memory to play the game, but if something is using that it could be using your VRAM and GPU processing as well.
Give me a second to look through the rest of this though.
il test run it again, and il dm u when i get back from dinner ๐
crashed as soon as i started it
Okay, go enjoy your dinner. When you get back could you open up task manager and click on "startup apps" and expand the window to show as much as possible and screenshot that for me?
I am still seeing those memory allocation issues even in the single player games.
Okay can you disable these things and restart your computer and try again:
- BakkesMod
- Firestorm
- Glorius Core
- GoXLR App
- Spotify
- SteelSeries GG
firestorm is the program for my gpu tho, do i rly disable it?
and goxlr is the driver for my microphone
Firestorm could be changing settings, or messing with your GPU. It isn't the actual driver so you should be fine. GoXLR is similar.
Neither are your actual drivers, but software that tries to optimize your system.
and do i disable gameDVR in the liandr tool?
Sometimes they can conflict.
You can, yes. I have yet to meet a person that actually uses that. lol
oh idk it is enabled atm so it doesnt affect any other games?
it's basically a windows recording software. It shouldn't affect anything.
oh alright il restart and head for dinner xD
Disabled all the startup processes and ran the tool once more
I missed a couple in there, I would check to see if it crashes (AFTER you eat) and if it does I would turn off Overwolf launcher and ICue as well just to be certain.
If it doesn't crash after the first time, or after you disable those you can try re-enabling the softwares one-by-one to see which one might be causing the issue.
but go eat first. I don't wanna see you back here till your tummy is full!
๐
Alright il try that and maby enable nvidia setting ingame again cus that seemed to actualy help a little
Nono im on the phone now 10 min til pizza is ready ๐คฃ
Ah, gotcha. ๐คฃ
Sorry, I tend to lean into the whole "Mama" thing a bit. ๐คฃ
That and I forget to eat when I start troubleshooting, so sometimes we need a reminder ๐
Haha true, i have a wife that shouts at me cus "she" is hungry so no worrys there haha ๐
My hubby does the same thing. ๐คฃ
crashed even tho i had it all disabled, but didnt enable nvidia boost tho
and again ๐
with everything turned off? ๐ญ
okay. I am 100% stumped on this one. When you get back from walking your dog, can you do me a favor and rezip up your crash dumps folder and put it in here. There might be something in there that the devs can take a look at when they get back from their holiday. I'll give them a poke, and hopefully they will be able to help you, or discover what it is that might be happening.
Unfortunately, I don't believe anyone is in the office this week, so it'll likely be after the new year.
Well thank you for your time i apriciate it ๐
Of course. Hopefully when they get back from their holiday, they will have something for you. I wish I could have been more help.
