Okay give me a moment to go through this. While I am doing that, can you describe what is happening? is there any pattern you can see to the crashing - like does it happen after a certain amount of time, or after doing something in the game or a specific location?

mental raven
#

Yea I see a pattern. When I run the game for the first time after the PC is turned on, the game works correctly. But after I close the game, and I join again to my world, the game crashes

#

Sometimes crashes when is loading the save, and sometimes, I join to the save, but the game goes low on fps, and after few secs, crashes

tribal hinge
#

This log appears to show a proper shutdown of the game. Was the last time you logged in a crash?

mental raven
#

I don't think so, the last time, I closed it with out any crash

tribal hinge
#

would you be able to go in and see if you can get it to crash again so I can get a log of that happening?

mental raven
#

ok

#

lol, I just got a crash trying to enter the via steam

#

Is on spanish but it just says that it created a backup, and If I want to send it

tribal hinge
#

So it crashed while the game is loading?

mental raven
#

yea, when game is trying to start

tribal hinge
#

Also you can put the log file in here now, it should have recorded that crash

mental raven
tribal hinge
#

Not much of a clue in there either, but that's okay. When you followed the instructions, did you do all 4 steps? Verify the files, run LiAnDrY's tool, rename the JSON file and use DDU to reinstall your driver?

mental raven
#

I didn't do the 4th one.

#

the DDU one

tribal hinge
#

Okay, how long ago did you have the first crash?

#

actually, the driver you are using was released today and I know that your messages in chat started before that, so that actually answers my question.

mental raven
#

the first one? 01/12/2024

#

I updated the gpu driver yesterday

tribal hinge
#

Alright, let's go ahead and try and reinstall your Vulkan to see if something in there might be causing an issue. Head over to https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home and download the latest runtime for windows. It should be the far left column.

#

Third one down. Says "Runtime installer"

mental raven
#

alright already installed

#

I though Vulkan was for amd gpu cards

tribal hinge
#

Vulkan is an API, like DirectX. It helps the game communicate with the lower level functions of the system's peripherals.

mental raven
#

yea, then I try to run the game now?

tribal hinge
#

Yeah, give it a try

mental raven
#

ok, now loads the game. I don't know if the game will crash later, so if it does, I'll send u again the log here

tribal hinge
mental raven
#

I just teleported to a tower, and the game got freezed

This is an issue with the NVidia Overlay. It appears to be saying that it's having an issue with memory allocation or access, which could be caused by several factors. Overlays are particularly troublesome in games, and the best solution is to just turn the overlays off.

You can turn off the NVIDIA Overlay in Geforce Experience by clicking on Settings > General > In-Game Overlay and toggling the option to off.

This error in the NVIDIA software along with the memory allocation errors in your game does suggest some issue with your system memory though, and since you do have enough available when starting the game, it might even suggest a bad memory cell in your RAM.

You can download the free version of Memtest86 here: https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm to check your System RAM for issues just to make sure this isn't the issue. You will need a USB drive to make a boot drive with and launch it through that, but as long as you have a flash drive (Or a rewritable CD or DVD), that page can show you how to set everything up.

tribal hinge
mental raven
#

Alright I will try to do all what you recommended me. But the memory allocation problem doesn’t mean that is a physical RAM problem right? Or am I wrong

#

Maybe might be a OS problem

tribal hinge
#

It could be many problems, from drivers to OS to another piece of software using up too much of your memory that might not be showing up when you launch the game. It's more for peace of mind that there isn't a problem with the RAM, and to (hopefully) rule it out.

mental raven
#

I doesn’t seem to be a problem of my ram I Think

#

Also I think I already disabled the nvidia overlay, but I’m not 100% sure because now the nvidia app is different

#

Once it finishes. I will try again to see if the game doesn’t crash anymore

tribal hinge
#

I am glad we could rule that out at least. 🙂 The error you posted above was from NVidia overlay, so it's possible that when you upgraded from Geforce Experience to the NVIDIA app that maybe it turned it back on.

mental raven
#

Got another crash, idk if is the same issue, it should not be cause the nvidia overlay is already disabled but

Okay, lets see if we can't narrow down what is going on any more. If you don't already have it, could you download GPU-Z https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-gpu-z/ and install it. This is a great monitoring software that will hopefully give us a hint as to what is going on.

Once installed, run the software and navigate to the "sensors" tab. expand the window so that all the sensors are displayed on one screen. Take a screenshot of it before you start the game and another one after you start the game and post them in here.

After that just wait keep it running and wait for the game to crash. when it does, take another screenshot of the GPU-Z sensors screen and post it in here. Hopefully something in there will give us an idea as to where to look or what might be able to fix your issue.

mental raven
#

This screenshot is with the game closed.

#

I'll post one with the game open and other when it crashes too

mental raven
#

Game Open

mental raven
#

It randomly crashed now

#

here again, crashed again

tribal hinge
#

This is so odd. I am still seeing a ton of those [graphics] Failed to allocate download buffer memory. errors but looking at your GPU-Z, neither your VRAM nor your system memory is even coming close to capping out at any time.

The only thing I can think of is that this new driver might be causing some kind of issue, and you might have to roll it back to the previous version to see if that fixes the issue.

Quick question - I saw that you are connecting to multiplayer in your log. Do these crashes occur in both multiplayer and while playing solo, or only when you are in multiplayer?

mental raven
#

both

#

also, idk if this is important, but sometimes when it crashes, also the discord freezes too, but other time does not

#

but it's strange, cause only happens this crash when I play enshrouded

mental raven
#

looks like, that if I alt + tab many times, the game crashes

tribal hinge
#

hmm. that's an issue I have seen before with non-disabled integrated GPU's... but you don't have one.

mental raven
#

yea

tribal hinge
#

The only thing I can think of is that when you alt-tab, your GPU will go idle, and going back into the game should start it back up again. If you do it over and over again too quickly it could be having some issues with that process.

mental raven
#

well it's not that I force to the game crash, is like I play, and for example I need to alt tab for something, and when I go back to the game it freezes

#

but not every time the game crashes when I alt tab

#

idk weird

tribal hinge
#

We already reinstalled vulkan, right?

mental raven
#

yea

tribal hinge
#

Not sure, honestly. I mean Drivers and Vulkan are the only thing that come to mind with that. Maybe try rolling back your drivers to the previous version or even 566.34?

#

The latest version isn't that old - so I am not sure if it's having issues yet. I mean they all have their own brand of issues. xD

mental raven
#

ight, i'll try that

tribal hinge
#

Your hardware looks fine though from the GPU'z screens you showd me, so whatever it is, it's somewhere in the software

#

Maybe other overlays or background programs interfering. Could even be something weird in windows.

mental raven
#

yea also, I'm running the game at balanced settings, even though my gpu can run the game at the highest settings I think

tribal hinge
#

Another thing to consider - even though nothing seems to be getting maxed out - when you are starting up your game, you already have ~14gb of ram being used - This suggests a lot of things are running. You might want to make a clean start of your system with background programs and other things turned off just to make sure none of those applications might be interfering with the game in some way. There are so many things that go on in the background in windows these days, any one of which might cause an issue - an 14GB in use generally means quite a few things are running.

#

Go into task manager and into the start tab and click off everything you don't need to run the computer and game and start from there - see if the crashes stop, then if they do, you can introduce them back one at a time to find out what was causing the issue.

tribal hinge

I tried to downgrade the nvidia driver but I couldn't find a way. Also, when I will be able to use the latest nvidia driver without making the game crash?

As long as you had the driver previously, you can use device manager to roll back the driver. you can right click your GPU in the "display adaptors" area, go to the driver tab and click "roll back driver" and follow the prompts..

You can also use DDU to install a specific driver version, or download the driver from NVidias website, uninstall your current driver and then install the one you downloaded.

I believe Geforce Experience and the NVidia App also allow you to roll back drivers as well.

#

If the issue is something wrong with this specific driver version, it would require something to be patched from Nvidia and would likely be in one of their updates. I have no idea when that would happen though. The seem to update them fairly frequently.

mental raven
#

I'm reinstalling this version

#

I'll let u know if it fix the crashes

mental raven

these days the game didn't crash so looks like the nvidia update was the problem, so I'll wait for a new upd
