#(Resolved) No compatible graphics/Performance issues

Okay I am gonna toss this one into a thread so I don't confuse myself since they are similar. ๐
alr
but I don't believe the issues are the same.
okay can you do me a favor and download GPU-Z, disable the integrated card and then run GPU-Z. Open up the tab "Sensors" and expand it all the way down and take a screenshot for me?
okay this is when you turn your integrated card off?
yes its been off ever since I saw you tell ming to turn it off
okay so that looks like it's not being overloaded at all. But with the integrated card off you are unable to get into the game still?
let me try now, its not running like trash when I initially turned it off
earlier today was the first time I ever turned off my integrated graphics within the entire 1 year of me owning this pc lol
yeah now i get this error
I swear windows is the bane of my existence ๐คฃ
lol this is my first ever windows pc
So just to me sure - drivers are updated and you also did the toolfix, right?
yes. i did both
i even went into uh let me find it
my display adapters in my device manager
where I got both my integrated and my rtx 4050 up to date from there
(integrated is still turned off)
Can you give me a screenshot of the device manager showing both the GPU's?
just the display adapter area?
yeah.
okay - Ming just said that they had to redownload vulkan and install it - so it looks like the toolfix didn't get that - let's see if that works for you:
Head here - https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home - and download the "Vulkan Runtime" for windows - it should be the third option fown on the far left column. and then install it.
Yep ๐
๐ญ
okay. Can you open up Geforce Experience and make sure that windows didn't just install some 5 month old driver? (it happens more often than you think)
That is the most updated version... okay.
not sure if i should be downloading this new nvidia app it was talking abt being able to reconfig ur drivers or something? idfk
I hadn't seen that yet. I am taking a look at it now.
well - I am installing it now xD
think I should do the same lol?
You can - It is NVIdia software
Okay it just looks like a new version of Geforce Experience, but it does give you the option at the bottom to reinstall the driver, which would probably be my next suggestion anyway
hm alright
It might give you the option in there to specify a GPU for the game specifically, or globally for everything. I would see what it's saying in there
yeah my whole computer frozen now, im just scared to restart it while its updating
nvm i just restarted it, ima reinstall drivers now
oh shit. @upper beacon it actually works now wow
never thought i'd have to go through that much work to get something to work lol
Awesome! I am glad it's working. Did you do anything, or did the NVidia software just fix it?
all I did was reinstall my drivers through the nvidia app.
thanks for all the help honestly
Nice! well happy shrouding! ๐
appreciate it greatly ๐ ive been wanting to play this game ever since my friend showed me it
It's a great game ๐
@upper beacon actually now that I have the game open even on the max performance the menu screen is VERY laggy
okay - do you still have GPU-Z up?
let me re open it.
yeah take another screenshot while in the game, lets see if it tells us anything as to why it's being laggy
you also want it while the game is closed?
or you want the graphics card tab screenshot aswell
naw, but can you take another screenshot with the game focused?
should I window the game? its in fullscreen atm
or focus the game, run around and then bring it back up
I forgot you are in the menu xD
ok this should be with the game focused, I had it windowed and selected
The only thing I see is that it's showing the GPU as idle. This could be due to a power setting (laptops usually have power settings to max battery life) and might resolve when you go into the game.
hmm okay ill load in then
i tried to load into a different game (warframe) and it was also running quite bad.
and GPU-Z still says IDLE the whole time - like did the grey rectangle change to any other color in that time?
gpu is still idle even when being able to move around
nope didnt change at all even when i was playing warframe
Yeah - if I were to take a guess, your Windows power settings - or the GPU power settings) are throttling your GPU to maintain battery life. Changing this will make your battery die a lot faster if your power isn't plugged in.
well, my laptop basically stays plugged in 99% of the time
So with windows, hit the windows button and "R" together at the same time and type in powercfg.cpl this will bring up the power plan for windows.
alright I have it pulled up
what does it show you in there? Just balanced and power saver?
That should be fine. Let's check the NVIDIA settings. Right click on your desktop and open "NVIDIA control panel. In the Go to "Manage 3D settings" and click on the "global settings" tab. Scroll down to where it says "Power management" and tell me what that is set to?
it says normal
i also saw that my nvidia control panel looks a lot different than other peoples
probably because i used integrated graphics when i initially downloaded nvidia
it's a bit different but should be fine. ๐ Might be an older version or a custom version for your laptop
i saw on reddit that people were saying that all my other graphics settings that are missing wouldve been seen on my integrated graphics card but, not sure how thats gonna work now that its disabled
okay one last thing... lol
one last thing you can think of to possibly try and remedy this lol?
my poor brain pathways have been abused tonight. xD
I bet, this is a whole mess
I am trying to think of any other reasons why your GPU would stay idle even while the game is running and requesting GPU power. It's not temperature issues, your system is running cool
It could be Windows Game mode. Can you head over to your windows settings >gaming>Game mode and tell me if game mode is on?
it is yes
Can you turn it off and jump back in the game to see if it stops throttling the GPU?
Other than that - the only thing I can think of is that your specific laptop brand might have some specific power profile that overides everything else.
What is the brand of laptop you are using? let me see if I can find any information on it.
HP Omen
its a slightly older model than the one that is now sold
HP Omen 16.1
something like that
its one with an intel i5, 4050 rtx, and 16gb of ram
Okay - it looks like the HP Omen comes with proprietary software called "Omen Gaming Hub" can you type that into your windows search bar to see if it comes up?
yes it does, opening it right now
there should be something somewhere that says "Performance control" click on that
ok give me a minute, i need to restart it for updates it just installed
lol no worries
ok found it
What does it say it's set to?
okay, can you click on performance and approve it if required, then see how the game performs?
rofl can you go into the game settings and tell me what the resolution says under the display tab?
oh its like 1587x something cuz i have it in windowed
ok well even on 1920-1080 it doesnt run well lool
ah right. That's fine though, told me what I needed to know. gave me no insight, but...
uh when I go into the pause menu it does still say its compiling shaders at around 60% but, idk if thats relevant at all
I almost wanna just turn my integrated graphics back on, since everything was running well when it was
It does take quite a while to compile shaders the first time. You can certainly see if you let that go to 100% if the performance increases... I am still wondering why the GPU is staying idle though.
yeahhhh its actually comical how many issues this has led to
Laptops are just crazy with how they do things sometimes, though, and I am not too familiar with them. (the last laptop I had was in 2001) xD
ohh i see
this is my first ever windows i used to be a mac gamer so this is all like foreign language to me lol
Most things are just like desktops, but some things are so much different in how they are set up
Okay - I am gonna see if I can't get someone a bit smarter than I am in here to help you out. I think I have expended my knowledge here. It might be a bit, but hopefully someone will come in here and have more of an idea of where to go from here. Until then, keep an eye on that shader caching and see if the performance goes up afterwards
Alright, thanks for everything though.
I might just turn back on my integrated graphics like tomorrow and see if it even works then
performance made absolutely 0 change with the shaders done btw
Well, turning my integrated graphics back on actually fixed everything performance wise LOL
and it managed to boot up the game without any of the graphics related errors
Damn. I was kinda hoping it would despite knowing it probably wouldn't.
okay now THAT is weird.
very strange.
I guess my laptop is just coded like this ??? to use 2 graphics cards at the same time
because I know when i open games like black ops 6 where it shows ram usage and everything it shows about 6.27 gb of ram or whatever, which is obviously not my integrated its my rtx.
I'm thinking something else went on there... not entirely sure what it could be - but as long as the game is running good, that's all that matters. xD
true. atleast its all up and working now ๐ญ thanks for the help
You figured that one out on your own. lol
i was clueless on everything else though, like the vulkan stuff, the command prompts, and whatever else you had me do ive already forgotten since it was a lot.
Pretty sure I have forgotten half of it till the next time too ๐
Okay, well enjoy the game working AND performing decently ๐
thanks so much.
Anytime ๐
