Going command by command in SteamCMD is allowing users that are having issues with No sub get the download at this point, under their account, instead of the anon one.
Verified. Windows, will try Linux in a bit. 2 different machines. Assuming will have to verify each machine, at least once.
- Start steamcmd.exe with no parameters, enter +login YOUR_STEAM_USER
- Wait for Steam to email you a verification code
- Enter that code in the steamcmd prompt
- Wait for verification
- type Quit
- Automated script - Change +login anonymous to +login YOUR_STEAM_USER and machine should then have this cached and should work, at least mine did
Why would you think it would make a difference on Windows/Linux lmao 🤦♂️
Not sure? Just to make sure! hehe
Not to mention, my Windows script is different than my Linux script, 2 different hardware. Will my Linux start up now that I've authenticated already with Windows or does it cache it locally and specific to the machine?
SteamCMD works the same on Linux/Windows, no it won't work on Linux til you auth on it, it stores your login token locally
even running a container on an authenticated machine will still require you to authenticate for that container
if anyone knows where it stores that token, it could be useful for anyone running it in a container. I had to disable my Steam guard to get it to update on podman
probably somewhere within steamcmd folder
