#Game crashing inconsistantly.

Hi, @south rivet. If you could please tell me your system specs and have you noticed anything at all that might trigger the crashes from inside the game?

the first time it crashed it said something about memory but I didn't get a picture or screenshot, the second time I was tabbed out and it crashed while I had stepped away to grab a drink

Both times seemed to happen while I was exploring, the first time I was playing with friends the second time I was playing a solo game

What GPU are you using as well? You can find that in Device Manager under "Display Adapters"

My drivers should be up to date and I started following the instructions on the Minidump

I also noticed my frames seem to be stuttering more than before the update.
I'm not sure if that could be related to the crashing?

Okay one more thing - Can you right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager (or press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and go to the Performance tab. On the left, the GPU corresponding to your GTX 1060) and look for the Dedicated GPU Memory section in the details. and tell me the VRAM for that card?

Okay perfect. Now do you happen to know if you are using the integrated GPU on your computer for anything in particular?

It is a gaming laptop so possibly intergrated?

Okay laptop is perfect. 🙂 Go back to Device manager and right click on the "Intel(r) UHD Graphics 630" and click "Disable" - it may ask you to restart afterwards. Once that is done, boot up your game and see if it starts crashing again.

It's more than likely Vulkan was passing through the lesser GPU to the game to use, which is not capable of running the game and would cause crashes.

Your system memory is also sitting right at minimum specs, so I would say close anything not related to the game or required for windows to run - including browser tabs, discord and other background apps. It might be a good thing to do anyway (once you figure out if the GPU was the issue, as it will clear up some resources for your game and possibly help it perform a little better.)

You may also want to make sure your graphics settings in the game are set to "Max Performance" as well. I would move "Voxel detail models" up one because they make the largest impact on the way the game looks at that low of a setting.

So far playing everything seems good the stuttering has definitely stopped happening at the moment, I'm gonna continue playing and reach back out after the holidays to let you know if it crashes again.
