#Here’s the message that explains it all

put it in this thread please
With local saves I mean that Steam saves games both via Cloud and Locally
Gimme a sec, I’ll attach screenshots and all
The left image is the “remote” folder (save files) for the original version (let’s call it that) — it’s the same for everyone who has Cloud Saves enabled.
The right image is the “remote” folder for NucleusCoop version (I call it a version, but it uses original files and all, just some magic to launch 2–3+ instances of the game at once).
As you can see I’ve tried moving over the files and it didn’t work.
The same will happen if another Steam user shares his “remote” folder with me — it won’t work either.
Does this NucleusCoop program copy Steam's behavior when it comes to Steam Cloud save settings?
Not sure what you mean, but it basically creates a “local” instance of Steam — as far as I understand, NucleusCoop uses Goldberd Steam Emulator (or whatever the name is).
So, basically, it just creates a “local” instance of important files from the game from Steam, e.g. save files like you can see on the screenshot.
It doesn’t copy over the game files or whatever — it uses all the original files.
It just creates local “fake” Steam users in order to have save files, configs, etc.
As far as I understand, the issue is not 99% NucleusCoop related.
It’s the way save files work in this game. As far as I understand, of course, I might be wrong.
I even started writing a suggestion on your suggestions board.
Are you aware of what Steam Cloud is?
Yes
Of course
I will share some screenshots from Nucleus Coop files just to clarify what and whatnot
Just making sure.
Before you do that, let me say I have no knowledge of NucleusCoop so I can't be sure how effective that will be.
Therefore I would like to try something else before you continue.
These are the only files that Nucleus Coop has for Enshrouded — just save files.
And here’s the other file that Nucleus Coop uses for every game — it is called a handler, that, basically, a set of instructions how to launch multiple instances of the game.
Go to Enshrouded Properties in Steam and deactivate Steam Cloud
Now create a folder under
C:\Users\<YourID>\Saved Games\ and call it "Enshrouded", please
This is it.
I have it.
I already tried local saves if that’s what you mean.
Well, it seemed unclear when I asked the first time
So, again, not Nucleus Coop issue, but the way save files work. To be more precise:
Let’s say I want your save files from the game
Your world and your character
If you send me the files
And I put them into the folder
it just won’t work
For some reason
If you are using steam cloud, it will get overwritten, yes
If you have indeed used local save files and tried that way, then I am afraid this might indeed be an issue with NucleusCoop
Our method of saving was meant for a single user
omg
I feel stupid
This is the only thing I did not try
E.g.
Pasting saves from Nucleus into local save folder (Saved Games)
Just remember to keep Steam Cloud deactivated for Enshrouded
I did it all with the “remote” folder, e.g. Cloud Saves enabled
otherwise it will not read the folder in your Saved Games folder
So I tried just now and it seems to work, I will test it further right now
allright cool
OK, I managed to get the Twitch Drops to my character — now I will go to Nucleus Coop instance with these updated save files and see if it works
Well…
I did manage to get the saves, claim the Twitch Drops and add them to the inventory, but then they are not usable because the game uses “fake” Steam accounts, not my own, so I cannot use Twitch Drops.
Well, at least it works…
@marsh agate is there a workaround maybe?
If not, then, well, tough luck, I guess.
Not yet. This might be solvable in the future, but not for now, I imagine
After all it needs to confirm that you have a steam account and if you are using dupes, it might do something weird that I am not aware of
which may not play nice with how the confirmation is made
I see, thanks a lot for the help.
I'm sorry that I did miss using local (Saved Games) save files instead of “remote” (Cloud Sync) folder and try out saves from Nucleus Coop there — I did try something else, but not this.
My apologies.
That being said, I still think that sharing worlds/characters with other people is very convuliting, like everyone has the same “3ad85aea” name for the first world and “characters” for, well, characters.
Hopefully it’ll be easier in the future, maybe with dedicated file names. I’m not going to share worlds and characters, aside of this NucleusCoop case, but I think quite some people into modding will appreciate it.
Thank you for chiming in, Kall. I know you guys are stupid busy over there, and I appreciated the help with this one. One of these days I'll actually learn a bit more about the save system 😄
I will try to use my Steam account in NucleusCoop, so, at least, I can flex fluffy clothes and my female friend will be jealous.
I’ll also make a video sharing how to run Enshrouded in Nucleus Coop — it is, honestly, very impressive!
I play on my laptopa in the first instance, and my friend plays on TV on another instance — both are running on my laptop, of course.
But it is possible to play in split-screen too, as you can see on the screenshots above.
She can get them later from a quest in the game, but until then... 🙂
Wait wut
Ain’t no way
So… these items obtainable in-game?…
That specific set, yes. the older ones, I don't believe so.
Oh, I see. Well Fluffy one is very cute, so that’s awesome!
Yeah - you just gotta level up and progress quite a bit to get there.
Anyway, thank you @frigid helm and @marsh agate, you really helped me with it!
The game is fire and I really like playing it with a friend, though it’s 60 FPS max on my laptop on (almost) lowest settings, haha.
Yeah, survivalcraft games and base building games are always on the chonky side.
If I was rich, then I would rent a cinema and play Enshrouded in split-screen with a friend there, ahhahahaha.
Like that one dude who used Nucleus Coop on Steam Decka and played Minecrft and Black Ops 2 with 8 friends in cinema!
Feel free to check it out, the dude got the coolest setup → https://new.reddit.com/r/nucleuscoop/comments/1cf1qm9/i_rented_out_a_movie_theatre_again_and_used_my/.
You should see what my base does to my framerates when I teleport over there... my (slightly aging) beast of a PC has palpatations every time.
Well, I can run two instances of Enshrouded, at least, that means a lot!
Damn, now I’m worrying about late game hahahaa, Hopefully I’ll have good FPS there
Just don't go crazy like I did and fill an entire fully upgraded altar with buildings, farms, NPC's and animals and you should be fine. In your case, possibly work with a few smaller bases around the map.
Got it, thanks a lot for the tip!
Well, you and your friend have fun. I should be starting to think about the possibility of maybe, in the near future (but not now) going to bed. xD
