#Is anyone else getting this?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Yes, I just tested it some more. I opened up a another world I had started getting the issue with, I made a small build and just tried to quit the game to desktop to see if it would save it, then got the same error. I am now trying again on another world that has not had issues, give me a sec to test it.
Sorry, I meant changes to the saves themselves
Nope, I did try to reinstall the game after it started, though, and it did not help. I reached out to Steam since it is happening on cloud save and they said it is an issues on the games side.
This is interesting, so I crafted a construction hammer on this character to test the building on the world giving the error, the hammer is still in my bag, so it saved what is on my character, but the building and flame alter I created are not. I am testing another world saved now.
And I just tested it on another world and it has no issues at all. So, it is the very last world I created about a week ago, and if I attempt to make a new world. I was putting in a bug report with the screenshot from Steam showing the ticket and their reply, do I still need to do that?
If it's still happening, could you send me the save data?
If you tell me how, yes
I have the steam cloud saves link to open already
I am just not sure which one is what
Open the following path:
...\Steam\userdata\(YourUserdID)\1203620\remote
And send me the whole content of that folder in a zip folder
yep
Here it is
Thank you, we'll check on it
Thanks
Small update, it is now happening for everything all of a sudden, so it seems the game is unplayable in the current state of things.
@rapid ice Do you mind also sharing your files here?
I have to apologize to you both but I won't be able to guarantee a fix for today.
All good, will need a walk through on that when I get home.
Oh. I see it.
I'm dumb, will do this when home.
@forest burrow is there a specific combination of character/world that causes this issue?
At first yes, It was the newest world I created last week, and if I tried to make a new game
I also want to add, I crash a lot and maybe a file did not save correct
Another thing that is odd, when I got the error, the hammer I created was still on my character, but the changes in the world I used the happer to make, were reset
interesting, could you please also send me your crash dumps? If possible tell me which one happened during the creation of a new game
So it is allowing character inventory to save, just not game world changes
Sure, where are they at
I always hot yes
hit*
I know it is from the issues with graphics, and I turned them down and improved it
do you save on steam cloud?
you find the crash dumps here:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\crash_dumps
we'll get your findings and research it, but it may take a while. I can't promise you it'll be solved today
got it, ty
I am back if there is anything else you need.
I took some time to try and narrow down the cause of the issue, so it will help with trying to find the solution.
I have a total of 7 characters and worlds that have the same name as the characters; they are as follows:
- Mage (Character level 25)
- Archer (Character level 25)
- Warrior (Character level 25)
- Barbarian (Character level 25)
- Battle Mage (Character level 25)
- Sword Magic (Character level 25)
- Survivor (Character level 23)
Troubleshooting Steps:
-
Attempting to create a new world gives a save data error when the cutscene completes.
-
All characters can load into the worlds Mage, Archer and Warrior and exit to desktop without the save data error. The worlds Barbarian, Battle Mage, Sword Magic and Survivor all have the save data error for every character.
The things I did before testing this:
-
I rolled back Windows updates and used the repair tool, making sure it checked the OS. I brought the system back up to the most up-to-date OS patch.
-
Uninstalled video drivers; did a fresh install of all video and audio drivers with GeForce.
-
Removed the game and reinstalled it on the second internal disk to make sure it was a fresh install.
-
Ran the Steams verify integrity of game files.
I'm having problems with sending you the file
Says invalid file type
I am having the same issue, the only fix I have found was to turn off Steam cloud save files and copy the cloud files to my local save game location.
Copy from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\175123688\1203620\remote
Copy to:
C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\Enshrouded
Turn off Steam cloud save games.
My crash log
Ok I made some progress on my issue. Cloud saves is working again.
-
I zero file size all my cloud save files and sync them with Steam (using powershell clc). Verified file in cloud are all zero bytes in size - took a little while to sync, just give it time - https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=1203620
-
Then closed steam, deleted my C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\175123688\1203620 folder. (entire folder)
Rebooted computer. -
Start PC, open steam, lanuch Enshrouded. Created new character and world. I could see my remote files changed in size. Exit game
-
Replaced the 3ad85aea file and characters file with my local save copy. Sync save files, launched game.
So far so good. It has cycled to the next save file.
How many worlds do you have?
Just one
Ok, I will check to see the steps you took, I have several so this may get confusing for mine
Do you have access to your world, or just a new one?
It’s back to what it was yesterday before I had the issue
Ok it seems straight forward, so I will do a backup and then try this
I used this as reference - https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/steam-cloud.html
Thank you
Step 3 is the clc part
For whatever reason, my access is denied in powershell during the clc process. even did a restart, and steam does not start with system, and not showing in task manager either. So strange.
None of this has worked for me
Same with me. I am still waiting for a solution on how to recover my worlds and create new worlds withouth the error
I am lucky enough to have 3 worlds that work still, so I can play at least
I have only 1 world
I am sorry about that. I really do hope they get to the bottom of it
@obsidian badger Small update. I decided to cut my loss and delete the 4 worlds that are having the issues, to see if this would allow me to create new ones.
I deleted 1 of my worlds, Survivor, which had no problem deleting. The other 3 do this strange thing when I attempt to delete them. They are immediately taking me to a create new world with no other worlds listed. I am unable to click on anything and immediately get the cloud save error.
I know it is an error in the cloud save because I decided to install the game on a computer, Steam has never been installed on with any game. Even as a fresh install, it has the exact same error.
Hey guys, just so you are aware, we are still looking into this issue. However, one of the key developers who works on this specific area is taking a (much needed) vacation, which means progress is unfortunately slow.
We haven't forgotten you, though.
I appreciate it, and hope they enjoy that vacation. thanks for the update!
Thank you for the update. I understand that this update was significant, and when issues arise, it's a process of elimination. I'm accustomed to doing PTR and testing, so it's meaningful that you're keeping in touch with this.
i hope they find a fix for the error i got 237.7 hrs in the game and i can't play it anymore because of that error i tried a new player and still i got that error
They're working on it
Is this the same error we are reporting?
I must have no life, I am 705 hours in on the game so far
I found your post; this is exactly the same issue. I have given them some detailed steps already taken, including attempting to remove the worlds that are having issues.
yes
i deleted the remote folder and the remotecache.vdf and restarted steam and my game is working again
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\1061639234\1203620
hope it works for you it works for me
I wish that would work, but unfortunately, this did not resolve mine when I attempted it. I even tried installing the game on a PC that had neither the game nor Steam running; the same issues persisted immediately. It seems that the data error is somehow linked to what's saved in the cloud, which doesn't make much logical sense.
mmmmmm that sucks that remotecache.vdf is what was saving my error i think
So what is this doing?
@rapid ice Did you have a chance to try this after the last patch to see if it is fixed?
I can confirm it is fixed. My bad boys
