Hey there, thank you for the report. Would it be possible to get an explanation of whether the issue is the duping or the crashing?
Honestly, i dont know how/where this possible duping can occur. I have tripple checked everything in my base, there is no honey or wax laying around at any level. I have looked at both spots where there are treeยดs with either or. To see that i still get that message dumbfounds me, unsure how much you have read of my past messages regarding this. But the crashes ONLY happens at the "Starter" base, where one puts the first Flame Altar. If i tele away i can do what ever where ever, but as soon as i try to build on that main base, game crashes.
Would it be possible to get your Enshrouded.log file as well as your save state? If you need help getting these files let me know, I can guide you. That way we can see if we can reproduce the problem locally and can debug it directly.
not sure how i share my savefile though.
Do you play with Steam Cloud active?
I do yes
If you follow the path:
\Steam\userdata\<your_Steam_ID>\2614110\remote
You should find a few files, one named "characters" and the other a string of letters and numbers. These depend on the amount of worlds you host.
you can just send me everything in that folder, however, and let me know the world name
Unless, of course, the world is hosted by someone else
Or is a dedicated server
Let me know if that's the case
To try and explain this part, my steam is on like 2 drives, or games folders atleast. So im gona share where the main part of steam is installed, but it doesnt containt the <your_steam_id>\2614110\remote thing.. i will share what mine contains.

This part is the folder with the local content stuff, essentially.
This part is where Steam stores the cloud saves in your PC
In this folder, could you attempt a search for the following file? "3ad85aea"
that's the one. Please right-click to it and open the file on its location
You should be in the folder where the world is saved, together with the "characters" file I mentioned
The top or bottom file?
Either or, both are in the same folder
just drag and drop the contents of the "Remote" folder here
ok, also i plate "Privately" Start a private game, saved locally. and my world save or what ever is called Engima .
and me opening those files in like notepad. things looks like chinese signs for me :/
I'm not saying to open them
I am saying to drag and drop them here in the channel so I can download them
Great, thank you. Just to be sure, as it may be a case that the issue is with the character, could you also please upload your "characters" file?
Just throw it here as well
How do i find that ?
It is in the same folder that you found the files above
Excellent, thank you. I'll look into it straight away
ok, thanks alot. though i doubt its the char thats the issue.
As i can teleport away and farm what ever where ever, its only at the "first base" my issues are tbh.
I also don't think the character is the issue, but in order to best replicate an issue, it's optimal to have as many similarities as the environment that had the issue in the first place
thats fair.
This is the area that crashes, correct?
yes it is
Gotcha. Give me some time to analyze this, please. I'll return once I have something - perhaps a workaround or something similar
Take your time, im really grateful for your time taken to resolve this.
Also, when u are done with that. I have another question, its not related to this issue. But another one
shoot away
Ill make it short . ๐ moment
A while back, long before i finished of the quests.
I made the call of making a secondary base of sorts. Just left of Ancient Vault - Farmer location, though. As i placed down the Flame Altar, upgraded once or twice i think to increase the build area. However, this made the the area big enough to build within the Ancient Vault.
So i built a house, moved literally EVERY item i had from my main base, interior, materials and what not.
Happy with my build, progress i logged of. But, as i logged back in i spawned at the 1st location ( as in if i started new game ), bit surprised. I looked at the map, the Flame Altar was gone.. so i moved there by foot. To my surprise, everything was gone! So it felt quite demoralizing, felt like i had to start all over from 0. What happened to this Flame Altar ? Probably hard to reply to now, as this was like at game progress of 30-40 % . Now as u can see the map is explored, quests done etc.
We had an issue where people were able to place down flame altars and build on areas where they weren't actually allowed to. The check to make sure that the player would be denied building was missing.
Players would built in such places ended up having their stuff lost because the area would reset after a restart.
It's an issue that can still happen as we're still checking every location, so if you are looking into restore any city or another, I recommend avoiding it for now as we look further into the matter.
I figured as much, as the area itself encroached to a place like that.
Like ive told others, its called EA for a reason, things will go wonky etc. ๐
"minor flex" xD
I like the base with the trees sprouting next to the altar, btw.
Sadly I couldn't reproduce the crash. You said it happened consistently, like 20-30 minutes of playing in the first base, right?
What do you usually do in this time? Start building, go produce more blocks, move stuff around in your chests...?
Thanks.
Uhm, the crashes mainly happen when i go into build mode. It can happen after 1 min, it can take 2 hours. Its very random.. but lemme show this.
from last night
And like i said, only happens at the first flame altar one place when starting new game. no where else
I see, the first crash happen at 19:22, the next one a good 20 minutes later, and the next one 4 minutes later
I'll approach you later. Do you think you can, in the meantime, see if this sort of thing fixes your crashes?
"So for anyone who sees this or is following. One of our members, I haven't gotten permission to share their name, contacted me regarding my issue. I had tried all the suggested troubleshooting methods. I even deleted and reinstalled the game all to no avail. Their suggestion was to roll back my driver to NVIDIA Version 546.33. I did this and everything seems to be working fine. I have had the game running now for a good 3.5 Hours and no crashes. So if you have tried everything give that a try."
I have done it all apart from uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. but if i do, will i loose my saves?
If you are saving it on cloud, it shouldn't lose your saves, no, but I don't think uninstalling would help in this case.
If you are ok with trying things out, you can see if there is a specific trigger that makes the game crash. Maybe talking to an NPC, maybe arranging your chests, maybe producing a lot of blocks... if it crashes, just remember what were you doing before the crash and let me know
