Full disclosure, I am going to aggregate the responses in here with ChatGPT and send them a summary.
⚠️ Please avoid back/forth and commentary dialogue in here, lets make this a running list of questions that's easy to review please! 🙂
I'd planned to set up my own server at home like a bunch of other folks. Probably play hosting on my machine to start while I work to get the tweaks done on a separate server... Will we be able to export the DB etc from one server to another?
Roughly how much RAM and CPU usage can we expect to see on a server of 16 people, each hoping to create multiple permanent structures?
How much "Customization" will be supported via dedicated servers? Will dedicated server be vanilla experience with a custom name and "admin" controls? Or will we be able to tweak some of the server settings to create an altered vanilla experience? Thank you.
Edit: This post isn't a request for tweaking the game files, mostly what would be offered via host provider. I can wait patiently for the potential mod support down the road 😉
Will we be able to setup through SteamCMD? Hoping I can make this as easy as possible and reuse my setup from Valheim.
Will Linux be supported for server hosting at launch, and if not will there be plans to support it in the future?
Would love to have all the Specs for the Ded. Server Stuff and what will be supported. So my Tech & Dev Team of our Community can Setup the Server on one of our Root Server. ❤️ THX 🙂
Will there be docker support?
Will server save data/configs be stored in a common location or (preferably) will it be configurable and/or stored with the server files to allow multiple servers to be run at the same time without conflicts? ANSWER: yes
Will the server port(s) be configurable? ANSWER: yes
If possible, can the server console be made to work over stdin and stdout? This will make integration with game server panels much more straightforward
Hey, I would love to know that during the time linux servers is not available
Does the server go into an idle or sleep state when no one is logged in, or does time just continue to pass?
