like if im on my ship and i have friends in my server
i can access ship inventory but they can't
this... you hit "Q" to access it on your ship
but they can't unless its a perms thing... i tried looking it up and people say you each have to own your own
they are designing it for 1-4 player and each person can do everything. meaning each player needs a boat
its why the boats are easy to use by one person
yeah, its a gripe i have... like why does each person need to be a captain of their own ship?
why can't we be a crew?
you can, just the person captaining has to split the loot at the end
but the enemy boats wil out number just 1 boat
sure but that means if someone gets full on an expedition they can't offload it anywhere
otherwise you are just a group of captains
basically
i just disagree with that design choice is all XD
one way to split loot is to comandere other boats. pretty sure there are chests on them when you jump aboard. havent done that yet myself though
Nah, there aren't chests on board, but I think every player who is involved in the boarding action gets rewarded when you win. I haven't done it myself though
they announced during demo they will fix coop on ships, it's in the works.
they aren't doing that. they will add coop options for 1 ship in the future.
Co-op on one ship — manning the cannons. We’re introducing the ability to man the ship batteries (one player per battery), so you will have more reasons to bring friends along!
they only mention this, but there is a good chance shared inventory will happen too
I hope there's some sort of bonus for having another player man the cannons to encourage it
imo let them cook, it's like 3 days in ea. lol try not to think the devs are forever going to keep 1 thing the same. they already announced 20 changes from demo.
oh yeah, I'm super happy with it for an early access release
and they are jotting down all the feedback
mind you the game is super grindy and frustrating combat for me, still loving it
upgrading all your armor to level 10 is a chore
for me its currently a 6/10
its funny i say that about all the games you like
its not bad
i must really not be impressed with triple A games lol
love me the indie rusty games
its because for companies that have 100 million dollars, i expect way better - for windrose i expected nothing, so genuinly impressed.
Yeah, my expectations were also super low
aside from the ship stuff there is nothing that differentiates this from any other survival
expectation is a big part of it
combat is worse than valheim, valheim is easy, i'd say that differentiates it
lol
enshrouded also easy
i should probably just wear the tank armor, and do double handed weapons, with strength build
and combat would be easy in windrose
since i tend to want to fight everything at once and not run away
im actually just using a blue one hander
and its pretty easy to take on mobs
but maybe its just the mobs but i can take like 3 boars super easy
regular boars? depends what build you got going
swing 3 times dodge.. having your swings interrupt enemy attacks makes it pretty simple
like i said str build will be easier
agility helps dodge
i imagine other stuff will be harder
yeah
with this one hander sword
i can attack 3 times and dodge
and just reset stam
repeat
dont get hit
its pretty comfy
i dont know exactly how agility helps dodge, maybe increase speed/reaction of it? not sure if it does distance, or invul time
its just super easy to manipulate mobs with a single dodge to never get hit
so far at least
ill show you my build hold on
Prioritize weapon upgrades, I'm pretty sure it's just a 20% damage upgrade per level
i am working on getting that when i hit level 8 probably
for now i just have this rapier, waiting for something that does plague or bleeding damage.
i have all the flibustier at this level.
I wish you got a few more skill points, 2 per level would feel so much better
Especially with how slow the leveling is
im gonna try this and see how it feels
i just planted some farming, the farming needs snap points, and maybe multiple crop placement
i assume these will all be grown tomorrow, hopefully i get seeds back
in other news i farmed like 150 fertile soil and it ended up being nothing, because it does placements of 10 for 1 plot...
whyyyyy, so much grind
i had to kill like 20 goats and 20 wolves just do to that
I just went for "Too angry to die", its saved my life a few times
yall ever play a little short game called grey garden? its a fascinating world.

Incoming wave of pirate-themed games with the success of Windrose

Yay!
My swashbuckling days are never over yee matey!
One day a game will come out that will top Archeage's ocean experience and will reach the potential that Atlas could have. I look forward to that day.
Archeage is an older MMO, it died because of hyper toxic p2w mtx
@muted socket Hey 🙂 sorry for the ping. What do you think about Soulmask so far ? Wondering about buying it
Btw I am the cutest link
You can apparently still play the pre-MTX version of the game. I haven't looked into it too much though: https://aa-classic.com/
Experience ArcheAge's golden era with ArcheAge Classic, a fan project keeping ArcheAge alive for all to enjoy. Join us today and start your adventure!
It wasn't a perfect game, but the way trade packs and the ocean worked was an absolute masterclass that no one has even come close to topping.
black desert i think is even better than AA . But i loved AA 😍
Priston Tales....
and bots!
ROSE online....
I didn't play BD enough to get to any ocean stuff, I didn't like they way they set up gear/progression and stuff and it just didn't hook me
if i remember right there was a galleon that you needed like 6-9 people or npc because had also cannon, there was naval war as well. was very well done!
Is BD and CD combat similar?
The combat trailers they drop are always so awful
🤷♀️
I only played BD for like 2 weeks when it launched originally, I'm sure it's changed significantly since then, lol
I'm really enjoying it. It's crazy deep and complex. I need that kinda game so I don't bore easily. Lol
I'll continue playing it alongside this one.
Also ping me anytime fella! 🫡
BTW, if you plan to buy you should do it fairly soon ... the DLC is free for only a limited time
yeah you're not the only person who does that build, but intentionally wanted a precision build and to do rapiers and stay away from the op stuff
for example this build is a power build
you do this and you will be fighting 1vs 5 and tanking, and having a good time lol
I don't know if the second and third points in Too Angry to Die are worth it. I only have one point and I rarely need it
essentially in windrose the consensus has been that points in weapon damage stats are kind of pointless. 😛 and you really just need to dump into vitality and endurance, and go for health perks/armor
so imo the devs have some balancing to do, or tweaking
Honestly I think enemy damage could just use a 25% nerf across the board and it would probably feel a LOT better
fishing is archeage was fun it was even better when the chill pirate players wanted to fish as well
Yeah, Archeage's ocean experience was top notch. I was glad that Ashes of Creation tried to copy if, even if they fundamentally misunderstood what made the system good.
so you had body guards who wanted to fish and liked that you a long liner
Yeah, my buddies and I all ended up getting fishing boats so it was cool to go out there with like 5 people and fish. And with that many, pirates usually left you alone
But every once in a while you'd get them attacking, so they'd try and kill/capture a boat and you'd all scatter at once while they tried to chase you down.
how far are you in windrose now
im about to craft one of the brigs, and i unlocked 3rd tier on all tables
I've almost got the material for the T2 ship, probably ~half way through the foothills biome I guess? I haven't explored it very much at all though, mostly been building my base
i have no base 🤣
just workbenches on a beach
ive not really found a good island that satisfies me
I found a neat little cove that spoke to me and am going to build around the edges of it
i put a teleport on 2 islands that are maybes, holding out for a third island that is better
I'll post a picture of my base when it's a bit further along, I just need to work on it a bit more to get there
i am looking forward to making a base too
so i can finally stop feeling like a pirate hobo
and like i have a home in the world
also i need more than 5 minute comfort
lol
By far one of my favorite Indie games I've played
Steam: https://s.team/a/1745510
Cast into the Great Well, unwanted by the world above. You delve the dark in search of the Old One, your last salvation. Lunacid is a dark fantasy dungeon crawler inspired by Shadow Tower and King’s Field.
It has an amazing soundtrack, alot of secrets, really cool spells and weapons, beautiful locations, explorations to be had and some fun challenging bosses to discover!
its a neat game but i fell off it.
i tried a ton of kingsfield likes after watching a video on them but theyre not really for me.
Did anyone see the soul reaver series came back from the dead with a new game?

Right now there are two free Indie Horror titles you can grab on Steam until April 20th

NINE HELLS is phychological horror game that will have your mind wandering for answers, as you walk through a series of events telling a linear mystery story.
the game has a atmospheric tension with suspense and jumpscares,

Uncanny Tales is an episodic horror series where the scariest things aren’t monsters or the supernatural, but people themselves. Each episode tells a new chilling story inspired by real-life fears and unsettling situations.
❄️ Uncanny Tales: Cold Road – The first episode of the series.…

I do hope it is ok to post these steam links, however if not.
The games are called "NineHells" a horror game akin to that of Slender Man from what I seen.
and the second game is called "Uncanny Tales: Cold Road" a very classic stylized horror suspense about uncovering a deep mystery more unsettling the further you go
Let's goooooooo! Lol
Kinda overwhelming to be honest ^^
There are lets plays to help you get into it.
@tepid wadi will you try archeage chronicle when it's released?
Maybe. I'm skeptical of their pivot away from a pvp MMO towards whatever they're calling it now

My prob was wanting to rush things 😉 I've created a new game and took it slower, got my boat now, made a kinda wide one to be able to fit everything, and just installed my 1st sand gliders
hey, I know this rush mentality VERY very well, lol
so are you enjoying the game now?
For now it's nice, having some trouble with IA pathfinding when having my base on my boat ^^
yeah
it looks SUPER deep
today I am venturing also into another game, lol
Borderlands 4
I've kinda rushed it ^^ quite easily
lol
For now here I am
you've progressed further than I
^^
I hear being able to fly isn't too far away
Nope, right after 1st boss (which is written recommended lvl 15)
but you need lvl 20 to unlock the tech
@ivory cove i took a decision and pushed the MQS in crimson desert!
Oh and the lightning sword, I got it off enemies
That were like.. robo mech peoples
I got a greatsword and a spear off them!
yes the main quest story!
Shouldn't it be MSQ
MQS main quest scenario, MSQ Main scenario quesr
i was at HB (home base) CUAS (Crafting up a storm) when i decided i would finish out the MQS (main quest scenario).
MQS is a term used in final fantasy 14 but i keep using it even outside the mmo!
I am also used to seeing it as MSQ hahaha
marvelous ... how many hours in are you?
10 on this save, but takin my time ^^
you can clearly get this in 2 hours

I realise there is a certain level of maturity and decorum expected of members of this group, and this is why it is my sad duty to confess to you all that I still giggle when I am in the Nordic regions of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and see a 'Fart Kontrol' sign.
I only recently learned what that means in not-English and am sure if I lived in such a nation I would have a higher amount of laughs than if I lived in others. XD
It may, then, further amuse to know that the exit sign at a ferry dock in Sweden reads 'Utfart.'
Because you can go "out this way."
Sometimes the word means 'speed' and sometimes it means 'thoroughfare."
It seems.
Same in English, I guess.

@tranquil cove the base, still WIP but further along:
interesting concept
looks good, good design, but needs aesthetic work/detailing, but yeah it also helps if you unlock all the blocks first.
so youre probably limited by that right now
Yeah, I actually kind of hate the way that the block "styles" are unlocked. Like, no rounded buildings until the 3rd zone? What? No!
Also I've been using grass benches for like 40 hours and I hate them 😝
im still not even done second boss so..
and im 50 hours in
just been taking my time, dropped off to playing 1-2 hours a day
Mine says 57 hours, but it's not actually played time. Game has spent a fair bit afk.
i dont like any of the grass stuff
i technically could go fight the last boss
few things i think would improve the game
- up the cap from 10 portals to 15
- up the talent points from 12 to 15
i think i showed my old house
this was the demo house
just a rectangle, like i didn't really want to build anything yet
and even my current in game house, i made a rectangle
because i am waiting to unlock all pieces before i start getting serious
otherwise i feel like i'd be wasting time and redoing crap
but, i can show you my current rectangle too
By the time you unlock the pieces, you'll have finished the game! And then whats the point in building a nice base?
Thats the problem I always have
In valheim, enshrouded and now windrose, lol
that's okay lol
i still might go in the game and farm stuff
plus content updates in the future
this is my current house
it's not done, it's missing some detailing actually, and i am not sure like i the mahogany walls, and obviously just a big rectangle is boring, will change it up in the future.
but it's better than the beach and tables i had.
im thinking in the future to ideally make a chest wall, and also give a bunch of crafting tables their own rooms.
and possibly have a second floor and tower
and a balcony, and a few porches.
later could expand to add a dining room, and special smithing area
Agreed. Im not a fan of this xd
Is there actually any functional point to making a base?
A base like mine? Nah. Square house is fine.
Just been throwing up platforms with a single wall and roof and throwing decors on it
To get buffs
Yeah
Does content get any harder?
Im on T2 atm but kinda bored already xd
I was taking on lvl 10s with the small ship. Made a brig and now things are just getting wrecked. Does the AI get any smarter at the higher tiers cuz I see i can make a frigate but not sure what the point is
If there was pvp I could see the point haha
the is fun in the end game, but a struggle early on imo, i feel like progression needs balancing somehow
What is the end game loop?
end game builds come together, so everything is easier, maybe too easy, removes the challenge
but i also dont like how it feels building up to that
no idea, i am still needing to beat second boss
O
they need to fix melee or give itsomething more. it is the worst part about the game so far.
Once I hit t2 weapons. Leveled it to 10... everything seems pretty easy melee wise
Im using that sword I linked before that has crit + easy perfect parry and just went stam
The combat does feel super generic
There arent any interesting patterns to mobs
Swing 4 times, parry, repeat
Regen stam when you need to
Its like valheim where when you hit a new tier, the mobs are harder, then you upgrade your gear and it gets easier.
The problem is, valheim locks the upgrades behind challenges, where in Windrose, its fairly safe to grind out resources.
your geared, the grind to get geared and the corpse runs on top are what bother me.
I guess after playing KMMOs and souls like it doesn't really compare in terms of fight mechanics XD
I mean gearing up wasnt hard at all
yeah level 10, and you find a good weapon, and the game is actually fun, builds start coming together, but the fun ends up being at the expense of any challenge. i like challenge, but the challenge has to be in a way where the process of fighting is fun, i feel leading up to level 10, like 1-5 level, and eve 5-8, combat is tedious and grindy.
ive played plenty of mmos and that is what im having a flash back of, corpse runs
Early on it was just making sure to have two foods running, attack twice, dodge, regen stam repeat
And its super fast to get currency just doing ship battles and boarding any yellows
Im like lvl 8 right now?
Im not really doing quests where I think the bulk of the exp comes from
But leveling up your gear is super simple. Just farm mines and it resets every 6 hours or so
Quests and POIs are the ONLY things that give xp
Oh. Well that makes sense why im so low lvl then XD
I went with the stam 2 set and health 2 set in terms of armor and its pretty free right now XD
just build a tent near where you fight for melee fights corpse is near by, now ships yeah you have to sail to post mortem cache
Or just build a bell next to where you park your ship and pick it back up once you've completed the island
wish you could use the bigger ships for a spawn point like tents or beds
Yeah, I dunno why spawning at your ship isn't an option
I do put a bell but I also put a tent when near a poi or a quest so i dont have to run across the island after dying
Yeah, makes sense. I built for full defense so it's pretty rare that I die at this point
Game initially had pvp?
I cant remember if it was removed or just never a thing. I can see not spawning at boat if there was pvp
I have no idea
no pvp co-op only but no official servers like valheim
I guess they originally had pvp amd more mmo like in mind but they changed direction
Yeah. Im just curious if the no spawning on ships was an oversight after changing directions
I dont really find an issue with it. Its super easy to set up spawn points etc. The only issue is if people die boarding XD
Windrose was Crosswind and development shifted focus from a free-to-play, large-scale PvP MMO to a co-op open-world survival adventure
which is odd if you think about it. the devs have said they are making it for max of 4 people but you can stretch it to 8. Makes you wonder how barren the mmo might have actually been.
well I dont think it would have been barren, cant make that judgement on current server limitations on unofficial dedicated co-op servers. If windrose and pirates of the burning seas had a lovechild with proper funding I think it would be awesome
yes it had pvp, but it wasn't officially design with it in mind i think. it was part of an update, and then decided to axe it after testing it, and probably had lots of feedback that was contradictory so could see what a headache it would be to get pvp added in a way that would make everyone happy, is my guess.
a few people think so.. but there's no guarantee pvp would have made the game better or more popular. if anything its possible it could have never gotten 1.5 million wishlists, and would have been a failed launch. the majority are happy with the game being pve only.
plus the game can't support more than 10 players without lag
potbs pvp couldve worked, they were just zones in the world you had to enter, the whole world wasnt pvp
I can see why its scrapped for the game bc each player commands their own ship
PVP is hard to get right, attracts different playerbase, creates more comparisons with other games that have more enjoyable pvp.
pvp zones is something i wouldn't have liked, unless it was done like legend of california game maybe.
Atlas did it right and they probably didnt just want to copy them. The system for Windrose is way too basic
better to make it all pvp, except in towns, or no pvp at all. and again, capped at 10 players? not much point. just turn on friendly fire.
And doesnt offer a good coop experience imo
I just hope they add more faction like brits, dons and frogs pirate vs pirate is getting old every mob looks the same
Looking forward to seeing what changes they make to coop
there is a strong chance they add friendly fire in the far future, they are interested in diving mechanic, and swimming/under water content. and they are interested in coop on 1 ship.
so i'd say these are open to happen, way to early right now though
potbs wasnt bad it just got outdated
Its also interesting you can just crash into whatever with no damage
Which would have been awful for pvp
originally you didnt if i remember correctly. it took 4 people to run the entire ship.
you can coop on 1 ship now
can you? they said they were going to add friends control guns, while someone drives.
There is no incentive to coop on a single ship
yeah you can do that from what i hear
yes 4 people can run on one ship, captain stears and 3 at the guns
You cant even access the storage if yoy arent a captain
maybe it needs more work and incentives like ticonz says
My friends and I started the game as coop and it was not a good experience
Its just much better to all make your own
unfortunately thats the only safe space for your items if you have randoms in your world, alot of irl piracy going on in servers
i think it needs work all around, coop, and single player too
i do like the game still
same
Survival games for the longest time have perms on lockboxes
There is no reason why they couldn't code that in
oh I am sure they are working on it, been alot of complaints
Its a good foundation for a game
I was looking up Elden Ring stuff and was reminded why Elden Ring is THE most beautiful game I've ever been blessed to have played..
Look at some of these screenshots of locations, these are all jus captured in game but look like they are actual paintings
will be interesting to see how the movie turns out
They're filming in London right now!
They are actual paintings.
They're painted with pixels.

This friendliness makes a bit more sense in the context of the game, because while Arc Raiders is set in a post-apocalypse, it’s a relatively hopeful one. As a Raider, you’re tasked with helping out the underground community of Speranza by going topside to battle murderous machines, taking on optional quests to help out this collective. The plot is literally about aiding others, all while battling a common threat. The game’s central looting loop has also made it a good idea to team up with strangers to take on these bots rather than to go it alone. An extra pair of eyes can help keep watch for incoming drones or a rare hostile player going Mad Max mode. The relative friendliness probably also comes from there not being quite as big a payday in gunning for other humans as in many other extraction games, as many of the easy-to-come-by starting weapons are powerful.

I couldn't find the intro song anywhere on here, so I decided to upload it.
ultima online had similar things, not everyone was a ruthless player killer
we had multiple guilds popping up to protect people too, and even most pks would treat new players well
It's actually one of the interesting parts of MMO development that I think about. Giving players reasons to have positive interactions with each othre creates a very different environment than the standard 'full loot sandbox' style where the only real way to interact with other players is negatively.
It's easy to go a step too far… go down a path you can't turn back from.

Archeage was also much like this. While you had the option of flagging on even your own faction there were guilds/players who would help out fellow players especially early on in progression. Sharing fishing boats or helping playing cross the sea bc they were able to get their ships first. We had a guild on our server who RP'd being a ferryman
Yeah, Archeage is a constant example of little things that contribute to the overall whole that makes a MMO great. It's such a shame they just killed it before it could really shine.
Working on my own... 🙂

Just because I know how frustrating this kind of misinformation can be for devs, I want to point out that this headline is quite sensational. The actual non-clickbait headline is "Windrose had high harddrive usage at launch, a new patch has lowered it"
The article says that the game used 15mb/s to 30mb/s while playing. This is definitely on the high end of the spectrum, but it's not "your SSD is going to break" high. There are plenty of massive open world games or MMOs that have similar amounts of harddrive usage and nobody is printing articles saying those games are going to break your SSD.
If anything this article should have been something positive. They made a patch that makes the game easier to run. Cool. But those kind of articles don't get clicks I guess.
you were one i actually wanted to hear on this being in the actual industry and knowing the numbers. Glad you said something.
The numbers are on the high end, and high disk usage does lower the lifespan of older SSDs, but that's just... how SSDs work. You buy them to use them, and games use them. Saying that it's lowering the lifespan of the SSD isn't technically wrong it's just very sensational.
And they even add at the last minute in their article that modern SSDs don't have this problem
Id say the average person doesnt know if their ssd is modern or not and that is where the clarity would be needed most. Especially with how fast tech changes and comes out.
I'd say the average person doesn't know if they have a SSD or HDD
After this update my pc doesnt sound like a jet engine as much while playing it so gj kraken
Regardless of if it is or not this is not the kind of thing consumers should ever worry about IMO. You're just stressing yourself out and potentially scaring yourself away from playing games you would enjoy. SSDs have extremely long lifespans, and this kind of usage isn't gonna cut their lifespans in half or something, we're talking percentages
exactly
In a more objective framework what the Windrose devs did was a positive thing, they optimized their game more and made it easier to run. The article frames it like the game was dangerous to run before, or something, which isn't true.
agreed, them fixing the problem, and rather quickly is good on them.

I hope it's good, I want to love POE2 but the leagues I've played haven't hooked me very much
played a lot of POE1
My biggest issue is that it feels like POE2 doesn't respect my time... maybe I'm just getting older, idk, but I never felt like POE1 had so many sections that felt like a slog to get through
ya 2 does seem that way. Was the reason I stopped playing it.

I feel like when they added sprint it REALLY helped this feeling
POE2 has kinda ruined POE1 for me
They added sprint? lmao maybe I need to play this new league
I totally missed whatever update that was
I remember they added a bunch of waypoints everywhere you could teleport to, which felt like a bandaid solution for bad map design to me
That was like... 2 updates ago, lol
You can hold dodge to sprint and it gives you a HUGE amount of speed, but if you get stunned while sprinting you fall over
I usually die once or twice a league due to that
They also reduced the size of A3 maps by like 33%, and Act 4 is a visual feast
Some of my favorite maps in A4, it's gorgeous

I've played AC4 like 3 or 4 times
I'm looking forward to seeing the remake
But I am in fear they are gonna do what EA did with the remake of MW1/2
Where they cut out content that was already in base game of MW1/2 and put them into a lootbox/battlepass system and sold the maps as DLC
Ubisoft is 100% the kind of company that'd do something like this.. so I hav my hesitations-
why would u support ubisoft
the remake is a cash grab hail mary before the company dies for good
let it die lmao, they ruined our boy enough

Because idk, I jus want to play AC4 again
It all depends on how they handle it
Ngl doesn’t look that great
i understand what you're saying, but if you love the character, you wouldn't support the company actively trying to exploit them. if you want to play ac4 again, download the original game, or at least buy it at a significant sale so ubisoft gets almost no money. im not trying to rant but its very easy to look up why ubisoft should already be gone from the gaming community and people that support it either dont know or dont care, but either way it hurts everyone in the long run when bad companies are still rewarded with our cash for releasing garbage. you're obviously free to do whatever you want but it doesn't hurt to stay informed when its a community you're apart of.

Final Fantasy 14
Huh- that does not look how I imagined it to lol
Thank you though
There are tons of cosmetics in the game haha
Thats FF14
Foofy meow meow
Fun so far
They just patched in a shitload more building pieces too, right after I finished my playthrough 😢
still not good enough
but the triangles help, was one of the necessary changes i was asking for
but having plaster triangles on windows and doors themes the doors and windows to only be used with plaster, and makes it hard to incorporate them into other walls unless you can stand the look or somehow hide it.
the issue with plaster right now, is it doesn't match with wood well. cold grey doesn't go with soft warm wood colours... it might be nice if they allowed us to tint plaster different colours, yellowish, brownish, white, blue, etc.
and the build system is pretty dis-harmonous right now.
- the diagonal small beams go on top of clay, but get buried in plaster and limestone.
- the diagonal big beams go over plaster and limestone.
- the diagonal big beams clip into stone.
- there are no diagonal mahogany beams.
clay walls also mismatch in some spots.
Almost like you need some sort of dynamic voxel blending
they better give a discount for the next update

the review on chess.com seems stupid to me
like what's the point if the bot reviewing my game is an idiot like the bot i am playing?

if i move pawn up a good player would just take it, or move their bishop... there is no fork you moron
he thinks i can get into this position

the bot is telling me i missed a 2 move future.

Do airships count as trains
Nah airships are there own thing
Train no longer choo choo anymore.. the last steam train was discontinued like.. a decade ago i think
You can still see em at museums and various tourist railroads
We still have Steam Trains here in Sydney... They take people for rides most weekends. I will often hear them chugging along on a Sunday morning, sometimes blowing their whistle... There's also a Railway museum not far down the road where the have all memorabilia and serve tea and whatnot.
Based
The NSW Rail Museum is located in Thirlmere, in Sydney's southwest. Home to a significant rail heritage collection, including over 100 rolling stock items, associated with the history of the railways in NSW.
Now I want trains in Enshrouded XD
We have a steam train that runs on an old logging rail every Christmas season, it's a fun little attraction in my area

03:50 Action Combat
04:35 World Bosses
06:04 Dungeons
08:32 Challenges & Puzzles...
Since I know a bunch of us like Force's videos
ya, ive been watching him play it and its how I found out about it.
That looks like the guy from that one superhero show
Im glad he is enjoying it but its a bit premature. Only played six hours... hasn't tried endgame, no idea how much content etc
tbh it looks like a slop game to me, like i see 10 games a year that look like that, based on looks/style alone and the way combat is presented, it's not interesting to me. also mmo is a count against it for me too. the possibility that anyone makes a good mmo that i will enjoy is nearly zero. all mmos suffer from the same problems and no one solved them, and even if solved they struggle with player base or a proper way to monetize.
i might just hate gaming now 😅
been gaming all my life, the idea of spending hours in an MMO is unappealing, i just want to casual game something, and not really interested in interacting with people anymore unless it's a small coop.
Given some of the opinions you've shared... it's possible.
I could talk a lot about MMOs, but I won't soap box too much today 😝 They're too stuck in a rut and not innovating, for some reasons that are understandable and others that aren't.
windrose building i've decided isn't very fun or good
the demo pieces fit together better
but i don't want to be stuck using starter stone walls, wood, and thatch.
Yeah, they need a lot more building pieces and stuff, but the mechanics of the building are very good.
imo the building needs a lot of work
the mechanics are okay yeah
the stair pieces dont even fit together properly
yeah
There are lots of little things that need work, but overall it's a good spot for early access.
Yeah I didn't play with the spiral staircases much because there aren't the right curved walls and stuff
my suggestions so far for the build system
- smoother clay
- thick clay wall version
- tinting plaster: blue, red, white, brown, yellow
- more arches
- more stone floor types
- more foundations
- remove the plaster triangles on windows/doors or provide the same windows with different triangle types.
- diagonal mahogany beams
- diagonal and horizontal stone beams.
clay could have been pretty
instead they made it annoying and weird
Yeah, they made it kinda ugly
also the mahogany beam doesnt bind right
small mahogony beam, the connection is good.
but the large mahogany beam the connection sucks
its not flush
i dunno building in games just pisses me off, and without a direct line to the devs, i can't be assed lol
i make threads or reports that seem to get ignored in every game
I'm pretty sure they have a discord or some way to talk about this stuff to them
TBH though, this is the sort of thing that puts Enshrouded in a whole different ballgame for building. The voxel blending that Enshrouded has is an engine limitation for building systems like Windrose
im sure there were things in enshrouded that pissed me off too, but i suppose enshrouded as a more complete build system has more work arounds to issues. and now that its been 2-3 years? the devs could have finally just fixed things i pointed out in the first week because eventually they would have gotten to it by now or more people spoke up since then.
just a bit over 2 years since enshrouded early access, yeah. They've made a TON of upgrades.
i want games to do doors and windows like sims does. placement on wall, erases the wall and fills it in with a door.
i dislike when doors/windows are themed, as in they have elements of marble in them for example on the border, and so that door or window can only be used with marble walls.
i consider this terrible for freedom.
make it so i can use all doors and windows with ANY wall.
enshrouded doesn't do this still, though this is more of a mechanics complaint then a snapping issue.
and a feature request was being able to swap out roof tiles, rather than having to destroy and place them again.
i didn't like the trim that came with walls in enshrouded, i think?
was with roofs or walls? the trim was annoying #the-tavern message
Potentially both
It would be interesting tech to insert a window and have it adapt to the adjacent blocks
maybe you need a new hobby
i need to stop complaining maybe, believe it or not i used to be worse
i have multiple hobbies, chess, piano, photography, complain about them all. 🤣 woodworking etc.
Sounds like you need to take a train ride
for photography, i hate wind, too much sun, and people existing near where i want to take a photo 😛
for woodworking, i dislike sawdust
cant i cut, sand, and form wood without dust? would be ideal
i read a article somewhere that complaining and venting makes things worse instead of instead of helping as people think
yeah, i reduce stress by making everyone around me stressed 😆
but it can be negative feedback loop
it helps more to be grateful or find something to appreciate
sharing is caring
Misery loves company
you need to do this to your self when you get the urge to complain or nitpick
@tepid wadi do you plan on playing Farever? Definitely want to know your thoughts if so once you reach endgame
I'll probably give it a shot, unsure if I'll get to endgame 😝
far far west was on my list of demos to try but never got around to trying it with my friend

-Good build customization with the way your weapons and class skill work BUT each class has very few skills to choose from, so I'm not sure how it will feel later game.
-I don't personally love the art style, but it's nice and clean. It's a little cartoony for me, but it's a nice chill vibe
-The world is nice to explore, you get a grappling hook, glider and mounts very early on
-There are lots of activities in the world. Again they're very simple, but they're well designed and make you want to explore.
-Story is basically nonexistant. There are a few quests here an there but they're super basic.
-Crafting is exatly what you'd expect from any other crafting system
-Feels like less of a MMO, more like a Genshin-style shared world game, which is a shame
It's VERY early access, I don't think there's a ton of content right now (cap is level 20, planned eventual cap is 50), so making judgments about endgame is super premature.
I don't think it's the sort of game to hold me for very long because the world doesn't feel alive, once you clear out all the POIs in an area, there's not really any reason to revsisit that area. There's no REASON to group with other players, since any content is soloable. I don't have any impact on the world by completing activities, everything just respawns in the same place as it did before.
Gotcha. Ill wait for 1.0 to check it out then
Yeah, I'll probably mess around with it through the weekend. It's got potential, but unless some big amount of content opens up at level 10, I think it'll just be a little diversion.
It doesn't do any of the things that I believe would really drive a MMO into a real next generation.
Im surprised Force called it a mmo
MMO fans are just desperate for new games 😝
I have a friend playing and he said it doesn't feel a mmo at all
Yeah, it doesn't
You see other players now and then, and there's a local/global chat, but that's it
Overall, it's probably worth the $20 price point right now if you need something to play, but there are a LOT of good games right now
if it was MMO it would be even worse imo
why do i want a play a game where nothing is dynamic and all combat is based on levels? with subpar crafting system, that requires 8 hours of my time a day?
I mean... you don't. That's why current MMO projects are failing.
level games are annoying and open up balancing issues, non dynamic 'go fetch' quests, where you beat that quest at level 10, and go back to that area, the same quest and npc is there breaking immersion. it's all trash, and instances aren't great either.
They aren't addressing those core issues and evolving the genre into something that is actually what players today will want to play.
and me and zerax agree on crafting being garbage in 90% of games
or at least 50% of games, and most mmos
50% is being generous, but yeah
i just remember in wow, going to war camp, and having to do a quest at level 40
at level 60, orcs defeated and war is over, in the story but you go back to that area for another quest, and you see the war camp still there, and the npc offering the same quest to level 40 people.
lol
obviously super understandable, but i want games to evolve
maybe pc hardware still has a long way to go though
I've been doing a lot of design around what it takes to create a MMO that doesn't have a level/progress driven progression. It takes a fundamental reevaluation of a LOT of game mechanics to do, but I think it's possible to do it in a compelling way.
windrose did something a bit less commonly done with the level up by visiting pois
exploration based xp IS pretty fun
yeah
kinda proves that you don't need to get xp from picking up every plant and killing every boar
btw that example i gave might have been neverwinter nights online
i don't know why i said wow, but also wow has a problem i dislike
animation based combat, with 1 million hit point bosses, and huge damage numbers as if i am in a japanese godzilla movie. 150k, in yellow/red text popping up on top of a boss i am hitting, to sensationalize the damage.
but this is because i dont think i like action adventure games in general
i want a simulation MMO
so more real world like combat, everything has 100hp... but maybe damage resistances or whatever.
I mean, I don't even think the animatio based combat is what you don't like. I think it's the disconnect between the way the game plays, what it presents you with, and what it FEELs like
The number inflation with a lot of long-term MMOs is nutty
But that's a symptom of item/level based progression as the main focus
GW2 proves that you don't need level based progression to be successful. They've never raised their item power/level cap since release
i really want to try vintage story, hopefully i can buy it soon
And their expansions have been plenty successful
Guild Wars
They have their level cap at 80, and it has been since launch. They keep releasing new mechanics, story areas, etc but player power isn't growing constantly
i wanna see if i play vintage story if i will enjoy the crafting process, and progression, and in many ways simulation aspect of reality with it, or if it will feel too grindy, or i will die to cold, or a bear too many times and start complaining in here 🤣
its not supposed to be an easy game
80 hours to iron or something
Grind for grind's sake is no fun for sure. Grind is a very interesting topic when it comes to MMOs because there's a point where "gameplay" becomes "grind" and it's when you stop thinking.
bear destroys your smelter, 160 hours to iron? oh god i hope not
i thought if you think, then you aren't enjoying the game. like if im hitting a tree and thinking what will i make for dinner? then its grind.
lol
That's kind of the same thing. When you're playing the game but thinking about other things because you aren't engaged with the game
But that happens when you're doing content that you've "solved" and there's no challenge or anything interesting about it any more
they have another update coming too
Sometimes you WANT that. But it becomes a grind when it's ALL you have
it depends on the process in vintage story i guess. one mod i really enjoyed in minecraft was the mod where you design your own weapons, make moulds for hilt, blade, etc. and build the weapon out of different materials for different damages. and you had to build the smelter block by block, and the moulds. this was a simple mod in minecraft..
vintage story is like this, just with everything, not just weapons, and it's has way more steps, which might make me feel overwhelmed.
Yeah, I keep track because I worked on it, and they're one of the only MMO teams that feels like they're really trying to innovate
I think I liked GW1 semi mmo better though
Yeah, it'll either be overwhelming, or it'll be a ton of fun because you're engaged with the whole process. It has to do with how it presents itself and the actions you have to take
GW1 preference is kind of a hot take since it's less MMO and more co-op multiplayer game
thats why I said semi mmo
Yeah, it's definitely a solid game type
But very different from the potential that a MMO has
(not that we see that potentially fully realized, lol)
A deus ex type of sci fi game in the style of gw1 wouldve been cool
im thinking vintage story will be first time overwhelming, unless the processes for making things are intuitive.
and then once i learn how to make stuff, it could feel grindy after. since an overwhelming process once learned, becomes grindy usually because it's overwhelming in part due to a lot of steps.
but this is why i want to try vintage story. i am really curious how the game will make me feel, since it's blacksmithing, and other crafting is meant to resemble the processes in real life more.
Sci-fi co-op games are a really interesting space. For RPG-type games I feel like it takes a LOT to make them feel good because sci-fi generally has so much more... freedom? than fantasy games. Like if I have a spaceship why CANT I just fly it off to some random planet instead of where the story wants me to go?
Defiance was fun
scifi has issues too
it's hard to make space interesting.
because it's empty space lol
and then vast distances open up conflicts sometimes between game mechanics for closing distances, and realism.
yeah, there's a lot of challenges with it. Theyre things that I think can be interesting if approached correctly
Every challenge with game dev is also an opportunity
and you have to make sure planets are different, if you use random gen, that it doesn't all feel the same or generic, it takes a lot of effort to have unique environments imo.
People assume that random gen makes it so you can do less work, but in reality it makes it so you have to do more. If your player lands on a planet and sees the same temple twice, they'll feel like they've already seen all the content the game has, even if they just got unlucky and saw the same thing twice.
not all scifi is space lol
i would love it games started adopting realism in flora and fauna more, so animals that hunt, hide, have personalities, different life cycles, different ways of reproduction and so on.
Yeah, a survival game that has seasons, animal migrations and mating behaviors, etc would be super cool
Aska has seasons
man that game must be a nightmare for the devs
did you aska the dev if they added seasons?
The npc workers actually do stuff too
how many daily aska puns
Yeah, Aska is probably the most interesting of that batch of releases of survival games
It was brutal preparing for the 1st winter, though I heard they toned that down some

better building than hytale and windrose imo and minecraft even, since (it's basically modded minecraft).
just feels like building something will feel way more satisfying
i get the feeling you will end up changing your mind about that later down the line
ive played hytale, and vanilla and modded minecraft with all the mods (300 something mods) before, so i'm used to that style of game/building. the main things i look for in building:
- are all the building blocks aesthetically pleasing, and not too dominantly themed?
- do a good portion of the blocks mix together in the same build and look good?
- are there any functional issues, snapping issues, qol issues?
- is there enough freedom in the build system to do what i want?
- are there enough block types?
i don't often change my mind for no reason, i'm not what i would consider flippant in my opinions lol
the only way this opinion would change is when/if hytale adds more changes and improvements to their build system. windrose by design can never have the same freedom as a block builder can.
block builders are superior games when it comes to building, voxels also

uggggghhhh I've been in a meeting and can't watch it until later
wasnt that game supposed to go free at some point
i already had 3 games i bought become free
which i feel is slightly annoying, if your game will be free in 7 years, let me know
let me have a full informed choice when i buy
I mean, POE2 has said it since they came out that it'd be free at 1.0, so you're good there.
They've been clear that the price tag is just for early access
yeah i just mean house flipper 1, and graveyard keeper are free now
oh maybe they just had free promotions
i see prices on the game now
They were for per promotion
@tepid wadi I cant wait to monk again
im installing nobara finally to check it out

Its gonna be another hour or two until I can watch the reveal
Ooo new monk ascendency. Hopefully some chalupa buffs too
Yeah. Looking forward to seeing actual patch notes. Overview of new stuff

Should've posted this, lol
I'm watching it now, the trailer looks rad
Text is easier and straight to the point xd
Martial artist looks kinda cool, though I might still prefer stormweaver monk
I def wanna mix it up and try it
I actually really like the manor hideout
i wonder if this is gonna be the last big patch before 1.0 release at the end of the year
theres your answer
They've said that not all the weapons will likely make it in before release, but my hope is that the endgame rework lands well and all they need for release is new classes and the rest of the campaign
i doubt i will play poe2 free either
i dont like games that have season passes or events where i have to be locked in for 1 week or 1 month to not miss content, and poe will probably do that when free also. plus they have to monetize somehow, so there will be something to buy in the game.
i basically quit skatecpt, for same reason, i could farm every item, within their timelines, but its much easier to stop playing and pretend the game doesn't exist. and have my free time/schedule for gaming based on my mood and convenience.
now i dont feel like i missed anything because i am not a player of the game
POE is full skins with no power for spending money, aside from some stash tabs that are very useful. They've had the same strategy forever and it's worked out well for them. There's usually 3-6 months between seasons so unless you absolutely MUST play the economy game, you have plenty of time to do whatever you want.
But also, after a season is over, your character gets rolled into "Standard" where you can keep playing there if you want. Usually most people do seasonal play, but there's no shame in just playing on standard as you feel like it.
The way their MTX works is also very friendly: They sell supporter packs each season, full of MTX usually with 3 tiers of various expense. But each supporter pack comes with both the items AND the pack's value in MTX currency. So instead of buying $90 of currency, you buy a $90 supporter pack, get a ton of MTX and $90 in currency.
But then if you don't want everything in the pack, all of the MTX in it go into the cash shop after a couple leagues and you can just buy bits individually

Luckily, Enshrouded didnt end up like another germany made videogame I rly liked.. the devs try to cast necromancy every 1~2 years with like 1, maybe 2 social media posts. It just gets worse. I just want to forget, that this game ever exist

What differentiates a story from the real world, or a simulation? A story is a series of choices, a set of moments captured, examined, and elevated. The real world goes on and on, but a story must have a clear beginning, middle, and end. And so the Talos Principle, a story Croteam worked on for more than a decade, must also come to an end.

Idk if anyone had a similar experience like this but when I heard of / found enshrouded I felt a LOT of nostalgia for the first game I really got into, Dungeon Hunter Alliance on the PS Vita. Its a very niche game that I played when it a was almost already dead game at that point (the only online multiplayer sessions I could join I would usually end up playing with Ukrainians, im Canadian, thats how little active players there was, probably around 2016?).
The game was released in 2012 and I played it religiously over and over for years. There were 3 main classes, Mage (staff, more mana skill use), Assassin (bow/daggers), and Warrior (sword/hammer). There was also a cool mechanic to merge classes, like basically making a tank mage or an assassin class that uses a lot more mana than normal (thats what I played).
The graphics were HORRIBLE, but it was so fun to play.
Enshrouded is the modern version and more of that game. Highly unlikely someone's ever heard or played DHA cuz i also have read that the other dungeon hunter games are 💩, but this one was good.
'Mini' rant/vent as i procrastinate doing more important things!! 😭

Wow what a throwback! I actually remember playing DH2/3/4 on mobile for a while and really enjoying them. They were nothing special and they were solo too but there is a reason they made it to 5, they were short but for the era, they were decent (But yes dreadful graphics all round - which is why...) when DH5 came out and completely changed the graphics, changed the world, basically changed everything and monopolised it, I quit out. DH5 was indeed 💩 and I'm pretty sure gameloft deleted the other 4 off the store as soon as it came out. scum. It was the beginning of the end for the gaming world in my eyes xD
If that was 2016, then it came out a year after DH5, which means I missed it deliberately 😆🥲 Sounds like i missed a real goodun but I hope DH:A gave you as much enjoyment as the prequels gave me. I really like the classic hack'n'slash dungeon-crawler rpg genre, especially so these ones you can just pick up and put down leave and forget for a year, come back and get that dopamine hit back like it ain't no thing.
reading that krafton may still be involved with unknown worlds, and you sign in to subnautica2 using a krafton account? and the EULA breaks established laws? you don't own the game, online play to control that you don't own the game, the game breaches privacy (they don't want you to vpn so they can track you).... annnnd you own nothing you make in game.
why is the game online only, live service? weird choice, you don't need that for coop play.
2 million copies sold? but i bet most of that is riding off the laurels of 1, i am not seeing the second game as more than a dlc/content update, rather than a proper sequel with stand out enough new mechanics.
Subnautica 2 introduces several new mechanics compared to Subnautica: Below Zero, including a DNA modification system for character progression, dynamic ocean currents that affect exploration, and a cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players.
thats it? that's not enough to justify a sequel
the building system needs to be 3x better or something hella impressive
new monsters, areas = content update, i am already bored of subnautica 1. xD
The base building system has been completely overhauled in this new title. Where the original used bespoke attachable pieces, Subnautica 2 introduces a sculptural extrusion system inspired by how clay is manipulated in 3D modeling. Players start with a core shape and use a brush, adjustable in size, to push and pull the structure into different forms. This extends to internal walls, furniture like couches, windows, and moon pools of customizable size. The base building system took a small dedicated team over a year to build. Galagos noted that the approach was chosen specifically because it maintains structural integrity.
ahh okay that is pretty cool. if only the game companies couldnt delete the game from my library in 7 years.
